EVALUATING QUALITY CARE
To begin with ; quality of care is the
degree to which services to individual and
populations increase the likelihood of
desired health outcome
To be able to promote quality care, health
care services should be:
1. Effective; providing evidence-based
health care services to those who need
them
2. Safe; avoiding harm to people for whom
the care is intended.
3. People-centered ; providing care that
responds to individual preferences,
needs, and values.
To realize the benefit of health care , health
service must be ;
1. Timely; reducing waiting times and
sometimes harmful delays
2. Equitable; providing care that does not vary
in quality on account of gender, ethnicity
geographic locations and socio-economic
status
3. Efficient; maximizing the benefits of
available resources and avoiding waste.
Monitoring quality care
Monitoring quality care involves the ongoing
assessment and surveillance of health care
services to ensure that the meet established
standards and desired outcomes. It involves
systematically collecting data, analyzing
performance, and taking actions to address
any identified issue or areas of improvement.
Patient point of view
Patient point of view; this also plays an important role
in quality care evaluating. The patients point of view
also know as patients ,centered care, recognizes the
importance of considering the individual experience,
preferences, values, and needs in health care decision
making and service delivery. It places the patients at the
center of care and emphasis their active participation in
their own health and health care journey .
Below are some key aspects of patients point
of view;
I. Respect for autonomy ;the patient point of
view acknowledges the patient right to
make informed decision about their health
care . Health care providers should provide
the necessary information, support shared
decision making, and consider the patient
values and priorities
II. Communication and information sharing, effective
communication is a crucial element of the patients
point of view. It involves clear and opening dialogue
between healthcare providers and patients. Provider
should communicate in a way that is understandable to
the patients, provide relevant information about their
condition, treatment, options and risk and encourage
patient to ask questions and express their concerns.
Timely and accurate information helps patients to make
informed decision and actively participate in the care.

III. Emotional and psychosocial support ; the
patient point of view recognize that
healthcare extends beyond physical treatment
and acknowledge the importance of
addressing the emotional and psychosocial
needs of the patients which includes
providing empathy , compassion and support.

IV. Feedback and patient engagement: Patient centered


care encourages patients feedback and engagement. It
recognizes the value of actively involving patients in
quality improvement initiatives, policy development
and health care planning. Engaging patients in their
care and seeking their perspective helps healthcare
providers and organizations. Understand and address
their needs more effectively.

V. Individualized care: Patient – centered care
recognizes that each patient is unique and has
specific needs, circumstances, and preferences. It
emphasizes tailoring healthcare services to meet
individual requirements which includes values,
goals, and understanding their beliefs to provide
care that aligns with their needs and respect their
individuality.
Summary
In summary, the concept of patients point of view shifts
the focus of healthcare from a provider-centered model
to a patient- centered one. It recognize the importance
of considering the patient experience, preferences,
values ,and needs to provide individualized, respectful
and effective health care services. By incorporating the
patients perspective, healthcare can be more responsive,
patients focused and ultimately improve patients
outcomes and satisfactory.
Medical providers point of view
Medical provider point of view ;from the
medical providers point of view, evaluating the
quality of care involves assessing various
aspects of health care delivery. This can include
factors such as adherence evidence-based
practices, the accuracy and timelines of
diagnosis, the effectiveness of treatment plans
and the overall patients outcomes.

Medical providers may also consider metrices such as patients
readmission rates, infections rates and mortality rate to
evaluate the quality of care providers. Medical providers play a
critical role in monitoring quality healthcare since the are
responsible for the delivery of care they can use clinical
outcome measures to monitor effectiveness of treatment
provided to their patient. By trapping patients
outcomes ,providers can determine if they are meeting the
expected standards of care and identify areas of improvement.
Hospital managers point of view
Hospital management point of view; they are responsible for ensuring
that clinical and non-clinical process are inline with expected
standards of care.
As a hospital manager my responsibility is to oversee the overall
operations and administration of hospital ensuring the delivery of high
quality healthcare services to patients. Below are some key aspect of
hospital managers goals.

i. Staff management ; he oversees the recruitment, training and


performances evaluation of hospital staff. He aims to foster a positive
work environment that promotes team work , professional growth,
and employees satisfactions.

ii. Patients satisfactions; he recognize the
importance of patients satisfaction and strive
to ensure positive patients experience
throughout their journey in the hospital. This
include improving communication addressing
patients concerns and continuously seeking
feedback to identify areas for improvement.

iii. Financial management; as the hospital manager, he is
responsible for financial sustainability. This involves monitoring
revenue streams, controlling cost, negotiating with vendors
and exploring opportunities for revenue generation.

iv. Technology integration; the manager recognize leveraging


technology to enhance health care delivery. He oversee the
implementations and integration of technology solution such
as electronic health records, telemedicine, and digital health
platforms to improve efficiency, patients safety and access to
care.
In conclusion the goal of the hospital
manager is to create an environment
that promotes excellent patient
care, operational efficiency , and
employee satisfaction, while also
ensuring financial stability and
community engagement.
