plant maintenance
04/05/2024

What is it?

• The Plant Maintenance module of the SAP

program includes control measures that establish
the working conditions of a technical system or
machinery. The module also includes preventive
maintenance measures and repair measures, which
are put in place to maintain the ideal condition of
each machine and restore them to their ideal state
if they have suffered damage

What are their characteristics?

• The Plant Maintenance (PM) module includes a variety of sub-modules, depending on the type of
environment in which the module is being used. There are modules for preventive maintenance,
housekeeping management, cleaning job management, warranty claim processing, information systems,
mobile scenarios and plant maintenance project planning.
• PM is a SAP solution aimed at mainly facilitating maintenance management, which will allow good
business decisions to be made based on SAP's understanding of its business processes, and the help of
its integrated components.

Masters Data

• What is it? Master data is all data critical

to running a business. It describes people
(customers, employees, and suppliers),
places (offices and locations), and things
(products and assets).

technical
location

• A functional location represents the area

in which an appliance can be installed.
The functional location represents a
location where a maintenance task must
be performed. Structuring the
maintenance hierarchy of fixed assets is
very necessary for the organization

Equipment

• Teams are groups of users who work

together on processes, business events,
and reports. Multiple teams are typically
used in decentralized processes, where
different activities must be executed by
different groups of users.

related items, which can include both
direct and indirect materials, needed to

Corrective maintenance:
• The process involved in this order type allows you to plan repair tasks when maintenance is requested,
for example, due to a breakdown or outage. Maintenance planners can create a corrective maintenance
order to plan the work activities and resources needed. Once planning is complete, you can release the
order for execution. The maintenance technician performs the work and indicates the progress of the
work. Once the planned maintenance work is performed on the order, the order is technically closed.
When no further costs are expected to be posted to the order, perform business closure of the order.

Preventive maintenance:
• The process involved in this type of order allows you to avoid the failure or downtime of an asset by
implementing preventive maintenance and using proactive measures. This ensures that assets are used
correctly and are available. Promotes optimal asset performance and reduces costs by minimizing
downtime.

Unplanned maintenance:
• The process involved in this order class allows you to manage events that require immediate
intervention. When maintenance technicians identify a problem with equipment, they can immediately
fix the problem and report the time spent and material consumed. The system automatically creates an
emergency order and confirms it.

Maintenance
scenario

• First a maintenance plan is created

• A notification is made about the failure or possible failure

• Afterwards, a maintenance order linked to a plan is created

• In this interim, work permits are managed (here the jobs, spare parts, and
costs necessary for maintenance are validated)

• Once validated

• The order is released

• To release the order you need to confirm that everything was specified
through the DM´ss and its components, everything must be aligned according
to the configuration

• The order is completed (maintenance was performed correctly)

• Finally, the work management is settled, that is, the time and cost of
maintenance are reflected.
