human-environment
systems

Since humans can be found in most areas of the world it is

essential that we interact with everything that is around us and
that includes our environment

.Humans have the capacity to interact with its environment

human-environment
systems

Humans and the environment have that mutual

interaction with each other. Humans have the
capacity to change or influence the balance of
the ecosystem while the environment can also
have the capacity to influence the behavior of
the society
example
For example, humans can either destroy or recreate the ecosystem
through tampering it's natural landscape.

On the other hand, the environment can influence the culture of

the society by means of creating norms and beliefs.
Humans always depend on the environment without a
good ecosystem most humans cannot survive

In the ancient times humans always depend on rivers

because of crops without a good river drainage
system would not exist

Three pillars of sustainability

The human environment system also
known as the coupled human and
natural system or CHANS is an This theory follows the
integrated scientific framework for
idea that social and
studying the interface and reciprocal
interaction that link human to natural natural systems are
subsystems of the planet
inseparable
This researches tackle broader
investigations into complex nature of
reciprocating interactions and
feedbacks between humans on the
environment and the effect of the
environment on human
Environmental issues
(environmental action and effects)

Many of the environmental issues of today relate to humans

overuse of penit resources for economic development.
Human stand to regard the environment as a never ending
sources of materials and energy.
Changes in human lifestyle needs to be done in order to
create a sustainable society
Ways of reducing negative human impact are
environmental resources management environmental
protection and environmentally friendly chemical
engineering.

Environmental awareness consciousness and sensitivity

needs to be promoted at all times
example of these environmental issues are as follows
HUMAN ACTIONS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES/EFFECTS

·Water scarcity
·Land reclamation
·Land degradation
Human overpopulation ·Waste disposal management
·Urbanization
·Industrialization

·Intensive animal farming

·Intensive crop farming
·Pesticide drift
Intense farming ·Plasticulture
·Slash and burn
·Deforestation
·Environment effect of meat production
HUMAN ACTIONS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES/EFFECTS

·Habitat fragmentation
·Habitat destruction
·Land degradation
Exhaustive land use
·Land pollution
·Built environment
·Desertification

·Tile drainage
Hydrology ·Flooding
·Landslide
Strengths
It provides a bigger or wider view of looking at environmental
issues.

It highlights the importance of synergy and interconnection or

interdependence of human society and the environment.

It looks at the human agency as not just a user of environmental

resources but also protector of the environment and other species.
Weakness
It rests on the idea that individually and collectively humans can
result in environmental issues.

It banks on the good nature of humans to protect the environment.
