Business related stories and situations that can be analyzed for understanding and exploring options in the same. Case study reflects the situations and complex problems faced by managers, staff, HR, CEO, etc. Description about how employees or an organization dealt with a difficult situation.

HOW IS THE CASE METHODS ANALYSIS ?


The trainee is given with some written material, and the some complex situations of a real or imaginary organization. A case study may range from 50 to 200 pages depending . Trainees are given time to digest the information. If there is enough time left, they are also allowed to collect relevant information that supports their solution

Once the individuals reach the solution of a problem, they meet in small groups to discuss the options, solutions generated.
Here the emphasis is upon that what actually happened rather than personal opinion of the facts.

Then, the trainee meets with the trainer, who further discusses the case. Trainerr asks, in some manner , what is the issue or the problem in this case ? After discussion with trainer the strongest proposal is chosen , sometimes it becomes apparent that more than one decision is best.

Identify the problems in case and uncover the probable causes. Make a SWOT analysis Develop alternative course of action. Define the controls needed to make the action effective.

Advantages
It promotes analytical thinking and develops a persons problem solving ability. It encourages open mind and serves as a means of integrating the knowledge obtained from different disciplines. As the cases are based on real life situation they are interesting to the trainees. It helps trainees become aware of observation. Contradictions and uncertainties they encounter in their business careers and need the remedial action.

Disadvantages
The cases are that happened already which may differ from future situations. Use of already prepared , fictional cases may limit the realism of case sitiation. Cases become permanent predicates in the minds of trainees who might use them indiscriminately. The preparation of case involves a deal of time and money.
