Society is an interactive system
composed of people within a
particular geographic space.
Culture refers to the different
principles, beliefs and practices
that shape the values and
regulate interactions between
people and within a group.
Society refers to a larger, more
encompassing entity that often
involves multiple communities and has
a broader geographical, cultural, and

group of individuals who share
common interests, values, and goals

direct contact with people, helping them
understand their issues so that individually
or collectively they can find solutions to the
problems of their community.
In doing such task social workers must be
equipped with knowledge on how to
understand community problems and needs
using perspectives and theories that will help
in the processing of information gathered
from the ground.
Take it from the Journalists
Helping poor people understand their
present conditions and bringing it up to the
attention of the government are big
challenges for journalists.
Aside from presenting those issues
through the news stories, many journalists
produced documentaries that feature the
plight of the people from the vulnerable
classes.
Journalist hope that by doing so
appropriate actions may be taken by
authorities or sectors concerned.

Counseling is another discipline
under the category of applied social
sciences.
There are different forms of
counseling in which some requires
certain level of professional
intervention and the others merely
require familiarity on the issues at
hand like peer counseling.

those in the vulnerable sectors like
children, women, persons with
