Knya sees transaction volume surge by 83% after using Shopify

Founded by husband and wife duo Vanshika and Abhijeet Kaji, Knya aims to uplift India’s tireless doctors and nurses by providing high-performance, comfortable medical apparel. This journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by the desire to abate hardships faced by doctors and nurses. 

Using Vanshika's past experience and expertise in textiles, the pair embarked on a purpose-driven mission to provide functional apparel tailored specifically for medical use. Since being founded in 2021, Knya has grown quickly, transacting with over 500,000 medical professionals across all 28 of India’s states.

Amidst this meteoric growth, the pair have relied on the Shopify platform to manage and expand their business. But as Knya experienced rapid expansion, they turned to Shopify’s Plus plan and its enterprise-targeted capabilities to help them scale at pace through automation, streamlining, and optimization.

Since upgrading to Shopify Plus, Knya has seen:

  • 97% increase in overall volume of transactions

The challenge: Missing solutions made it hard to deliver bespoke bundles

With Knya’s business rapidly expanding over a few short years, the brand ran into challenges scaling to match their fast growth. For instance, the processes Knya had in place to customize garments with embroidery were largely manual. As orders grew, these manual processes led to slow fulfillment and became resource-heavy and unsustainable. 

Plus, Knya faced challenges stemming from limitations in product bundling and the vital need for a more streamlined checkout process. The integration of offline and online channels posed further logistical complexities due to the use of third-party point of sale (POS) solutions, especially as the brand worked to build their brick-and-mortar store presence. 

As a result, Knya experienced a growing number of abandoned carts, difficulty managing their inventory online and in their burgeoning physical store network, and lengthy delivery times of up to 14 days from the date of order.

The solution: Boosting scrubs sales with one-page checkout, Scripts, and POS

Transitioning to Shopify’s Plus plan proved instrumental in addressing the challenges Knya was facing, as well as propelling the business forward. Our platform offered a versatile suite of features and capabilities that allowed Knya to enhance customer experience and optimize operations. 

Using Shopify Scripts to create new product bundling rules, Knya empowered doctors to mix and match top and bottom garment sizes independently rather than having to select a one-size standard. This resulted in a more comfortable and bespoke fit—a vital offering, considering the long hours doctors and nurses spend in scrubs.

With bundling sorted, Knya turned to customization, employing the Shopify Plus plan’s higher application programming interface (API) call limits to support the bulk downloads of embroidery designs. This streamlined the customization and delivery of products with a high degree of automation and accuracy, reducing turnaround from 14 days to 3.

With the features we’re able to provide now, customers are coming to us instead of visiting Amazon or a third-party website. This is because they know they can choose the right size top and bottom separately, and that they can add embroidery to personalize their garments, all while getting their order in only three days.

Finally, Knya adopted Shopify’s one-page checkout, replacing the three-page checkout process they previously had, to facilitate smoother transactions and improve the overall experience, a particularly valuable trait in India, where automating prefilled addresses is a constant struggle for India’s online retailers.

Knya also switched their point of sale (POS) system from a third-party local provider to Shopify POS. Its native Shopify integration powers clearer inventory management and easier loyalty program synchronization across their ecommerce and brick-and-mortar outlets. In turn, this supports the business’s ambitions to expand to more locations while ensuring seamless customer service from one channel to another.

The result: Robust operations driving healthy business growth

In the months since implementing Shopify’s Plus plan, Knya has grown in leaps and bounds, driven by increased efficiency and an improved and more bespoke customer experience.

Thanks to Shopify Scripts fueling bespoke bundling, and a one-page checkout streamlining payments, Knya has recorded a significant revenue increase of 105% and a 97% surge in transaction volume, while bulk design downloads have reduced delivery times from 2 weeks down to just 3 days.

Our average dispatch time has been reduced from fourteen days to just three days, made possible because of the bulk download feature via Shopify’s API solutions. This has cut out all the manual work from the process. Today, shoppers want their product immediately, and everyone is impatient. The fast turnaround and improved customer experience have led to better customer retention.

Looking ahead, Knya plans to further use Shopify’s features to expand operations even more. The company aims to explore the B2B capabilities of our platform for bulk sales, implement additional checkout extensions for enhanced functionality, and continue innovating in product bundling to meet evolving customer needs.
