Have you ever heard about the 
Past Progressive ? Yes!! it’s a tense used to 
describe an action that was 
happening at an specific 
time in the past.
I MUST REMEMBER: In order to form the Past 
Progressive, I have to use the AUXILIARY VERB “TO BE” 
in the past form: WAS/WERE and the ING form of the 
verb

HEY ! 
You can also use Past Progressive To describe 
an action that started in the past and was 
interrupted by another one, or to describe two 
actions that were in progress at the SAME 
time in the past 
Example: 
He was writing an e-mail when the 
phone rang. 
I was preparing dinner while Melanie was 
working upstairs.
Remember to use this words to 
create Past Progressive Sentences 
When 
& 
While 
What is the difference 
between when and while? 
WHILE  We use while when there are two 
long actions. 
WHEN:  We use it when one action is longer 
than the other one .
