Josh Murdock is known as Professor Josh to many on social media and in the classroom. He
currently works at Valencia College as an instructional designer helping build online courses,
train faculty on technology, and solve the Blackboard problems of the world. He’s an Associate
Faculty teaching Educational Technology in the EPI program, Social Networking for Job Search
and Student Success.

education for over fifteen years. He also has a Master of Arts in both Educational Leadership for

Bess AuerBess Auer is a certified teacher who is also an award-winning blogger. A 17-year veteran in the
classroom, she went on to start the Florida Blogger and Social Media Conference, which is a one-
day gathering of the state’s largest bloggers and social media pros. A frequent guest speaker
and blogger on social media issues, parenting and education, Bess was asked to create the high
tech curriculum for Park Maitland School’s first “Smart Tech” class, which focused on teaching
students to blog and use social media to expand learning beyond the classroom walls.

An MIT grad with two masters’ degrees, Christine Ortiz spent her high school years working on the
national, teen anti-smoking Truth Campaign and advising corporate executives on engaging youths
for social change. At the age of 18 she founded her first company, Allen Ortiz Consulting, through
which she developed youth empowerment curriculums, designed marketing and branding
strategies for social change initiatives, launched state and country-wide change campaigns, and
spoke in front of hundreds of thousands of youth and adults.

Christine opened a tutoring and test prep center, a stepping-stone to her most recent venture,
Knowledge Commons, an Innovation lab that is rapidly prototyping solutions to education related
issues. The Commons include The Ampersand School, a K-12 independent school, with mixed- age
classrooms, an integrated and thematic curriculum design, and a constant focus on individuality
and Blank Schools, a radically different approach to new school model development. Locally she
organizes events like Startup Weekend, EdCamp, GiveCamp, edtech meetup and anything that
