I began my working life as an English teacher, then moved into specialising in children's literature. I have worked as an editor of children's fiction, poetry, plays and non-fiction in magazines and books. I have extensive experience in developing and delivering book-based projects to children and teenagers. I developed educational support materials for the children's creative writing program Nestle Write Around Australia, and I have written teacher's notes for various publishers. I have been a judge on the NSW Premier's Literary Awards 4 times, and have worked with Sydney Writers' Festival as a presenter and coordinator of the School Days program in 2012-2013.
