The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling is an 18th century novel by Henry Fielding divided into 18 books. It follows the story of Tom Jones, who was left by his mother at Squire Allworthy's home. His rival is Master Blifil, the son of Bridget Allworthy. Tom falls in love with Sophia Western, but their romance is opposed by her father Squire Western and others. The story chronicles their adventures and misfortunes as they struggle to be together against the obstacles around them.

Lord Fellamar : A peer and socialite, he tried to rape Sophia. Fitzpatrick : An Irishman who abuses his wife Harriet. Hariet Fitzpatrick :Fitzpatrick’s wife, cousine of Sophia. Jenny Jones : servent of Partridge accused to be the mother of Tom Jones. Mrs. Miller : Mother of Betty and Nancy Miller.

Nancy Miller :(later Nightingle) a good natured girl who is imposed on by Mr. Nightingle and is ruined by him. Mr. Nightingle : imposer of Nancy Miller. Partridge : Teacher of Jenny Jones. Black George :Allworthy and Westerners game keeper, a poor man and the object of Tom's charity.

Molly :Black George's second daughter and lover of Tom. She had a Basterd son, possibly by Tom. Mr. Thomas Square :partial teacher of Blifil and Tom. Miss western : Unmarried sister of Square Western who wrongly believes herself “to know the world “.
