Action Research is a
research of the teacher,for
the teacher and by the
teacher.

OF ACTION RESEARCH
According to Stephen M
Corey , “Action Research is
a process for studying
problems by practitioners
scientifically to take decision
for improving their current
practises”.
PECULIARITIES OF ACTION RESEARCH
• It is concerned with school problems and is carried on
by school personnel toimprove schoolpractice.
•Compared with other kinds of educational research it is
simple and easier to conduct.
•It is organised investigative activity aimed towards the
study leading to constructive change in the qualitative
improvement of the work of the endeavour concerned.
•It is research designed to solve a felt problem that have
a direct application in the setting in which the research is
conducted.
•Action research is a type of applied research or
decision-oriented research .The researcher is the
practitioner himself,who will take the decision and enjoy
its benefit.
•It is undertaken to solve an immediate practical
problem and the goal of adding to scientific knowledge
is only secondary.
OBJECTIVES OF ACTION RESEARCH
1. To improve the working conditions of various
infrastructural components of a school.
2. To develop scientific attitude among teachers where by
they are motivated to study problems scientifically before
taking decisions.
3. To develop democratic attitude among studentsand
teachers while understanding and solving their problems .
4. To bring excellence in school working.
5. To develop the ability and understanding among
administrators toimprove and modify school conditions
with a scientific out look.
6. To root out the conservative and static environment
prevailing in most schools.
7. To make the school system effective for generating a
healthy environment conducive to learning.
8. To raise the levelof perfomance and the level of aspiration
of the students.
