Learning Styles:
I will be incorporating a variety of teaching strategies through
the utilization of graphs and timelines for my categorical
learners; videos and virtual tours to benefit my audio-visual
learners; as well as role-play and cooperative learning groups for
my kinesthetic learners (including those with ADHD).
State Objectives
• My fifth grade students will describe the major issues
and events that led to the Civil War and identify the key
battles that influenced the war’s outcome by utilizing
cooperative learning groups, timelines, graphs,
interactive maps, videos, reenactment, blogs, online
research, and journaling by the end of the week with
95% accuracy.

• Day One: Economic and Cultural Differences between
the North and South
• Day Two: Political Issues and Southern Secession
o “Bleeding Kansas”
o Election of 1860

• Day Four: Key Battles and Strategies
