Review/ Reader’s Log Connecting to literature- I took a chance when I went to college. I didn’t know that I would be successful, but I went anyways. Background - In the 1950’s, there were no photocopiers or computers. Literary analysis- Suspense- tension or uncertainty that keeps you guessing. Rising action- A story’s rising action begins when the central problem is introduced, and it continues until the climax, or high point is reached. Reading strategy- rereading a passage to clarify details

Review/ Reader’s Log Vocabulary Development Latin root –term means end Prefix- in- means “without end” Spelling strategy- When adding a word ending that begins with a vowel to a word that ends in a silent e , you usually drop the e and add the suffix. Grammar Lesson- Nouns- a noun is a word that names a person, place, thing or idea. Concrete nouns- Abstract nouns

Prepare to Read- View from the Summit/ The Dream Comes True Connect- Describe a time when you worked really hard on something and you had to convince yourself that it was worth the effort Background- Read the paragraph and write down one item that you feel is an important point to remember.

Literary Analysis Read and write the following What is “Author’s perspective”? What do you do when you compare literary works? What are the benefits of comparing literary works? What do you do when you distinguish “fact from opinion”? Create a “FACT from Opinion” Chart Write down the vocabulary words.
