There is an increased global
awareness that a modern
economy cannot reach its full
potential without nurturing the
innovation of its entrepreneurs,
and that realization enhances
the prospects for venture capital.
I am very passionate about using investment strategies combined with leveraging political and
corporate support to create radical social transformation and new markets in the developing world.
Since past year I have been compiling a set of ideas that IF implemented with the right
partnerships - can turnaround the fate of any developing country.
Please note that in this document we take the example of Pakistan. However the thesis underlying
the suggestions embedded in this document holds true in the author's opinion for other
developing countries/regions as well. Some of the ideas listed here are inspired from my work of
consulting governments and large corporations across LatAm and China. In my years of being an
investor in the U.S venture capital industry, I have had the privilege to meet entrepreneurs, Venture
Capitalists, innovation thought leaders etc. from 50+ countries (Germany, UK, Israel, India,
Singapore,Turkey, France, China, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Iran, etc. etc.). I can safely conclude that the
secret recipe to the success of U.S. economy and military might lies, to a major credit, in the
thought leadership and effective capital market of venture capital. Most smart countries I have
worked with have figured out tailored cross border investment strategies to be involved in the U.S
innovation ecosystem. Developing countries can learn from some these examples and replicate to
achieve great outcomes

PLASTICS TO
BIOFUEL PLANTS
01
We have invested in a company called Fulcrum BioEnergy, which has developed a process to
turn certain types of household waste, such as paper, textiles, wood, plastics and food
products, into transport fuels, such as synthetic jet fuel. Proprietary catalyst gas-to-liquids
technology licensed by BP and our partner Johnson Matthey plays a key role in this process.
Transportation fuels produced this way can have up to 80% fewer lifecycle greenhouse gas
emissions than traditional transportation fuels. As well as diverting waste from land
fi
ll, Fulcrum
also recovers recyclable materials, displacing the production of new metals and plastics. The
process also produces ash that can be used in cement kilns.
The
fi
rst Fulcrum facility is currently being constructed in Nevada and the company has
announced a second facility to be built in Indiana. The Nevada plant is expected to convert
around 175,000 tonnes of household waste into approximately 11 million gallons of fuel every
year – the equivalent of more than 180 return
fl
ights between London and New York.

According to the World Energy Council, the total global
potential of wave energy is about 32 PWh/yr (petawatt hour
per year), approximately double the world’s electricity supply
in 2008. Homewer, wave power has major challenges to
overcome for it to be deployed: Mainly harnessed through

NATIONAL INCOME SHARE
AGREEMENT PROGRAM
03
We started Lambda School because we believe that the “traditional” model of
higher education is broken. Every year, people as young as 17 years old take on
tens of thousands of dollars in student debt and pray that the education they are
investing in will land them on a job on the other side.
Unfortunately, traditional colleges and universities have no incentive to ensure their
graduates get hired – they get paid regardless.
At Lambda School, we believe there is a better way to approach education.
Instead of asking our students to bet on us, we bet on them
fi
rst. Lambda’s model
is built on Income Share Agreements (ISAs) – our students pay no tuition upfront,
and agree to pay back 17% of their income post-graduation for two years, but only
once they’re making $50,000 or more. And if they don’t
fi
nd a high-paying job after
60 months of deferred payments? They pay nothing. This paradigm-shifting model
allows us to align the incentives of the school with the incentives of our students –
and we all win when our graduates succeed.

CHICKEN FARMS

Wherever there are Sikhs, there is langar. Langar is the free communal
kitchen service that is part of every single gurdwara (Sikh place of
worship and education) in the world. Langar is also served on the
streets to ensure it reaches those that may need it most. Through this
completely voluntary service funded entirely by donations (of both food
and money), Sikhs serve an estimated seven million meals a day all
over the world, according to estimates from the Sikh Press Association.

Robots, drones, and now 3D printers. Automation is coming for the
construction industry, and as I've written, the $15.5 trillion global industry
is long overdue for an e

A startup called Mighty Buildings is taking the concept to the extreme
plans to automate up to 80% of the building process in its factories
using 3D printing. It claims it can produce structures with 95% fewer
labor hours and twice as fast as conventional construction.

A NEW SERIES OF
PARAMILITARY LAW
FIRMS THAT WORK
WITH EQUITY MODEL
IN LEGAL CASES FOR
MASS POPULATION
In developing countries there is a big room in the legal
model of equity legal representation - whereby law
fi
rms
take equity in the cases of mass population and go after
big interest groups where civil liberties have been
violated. This is fairly common in the United States of
America. Why we add the paramilitary angle is because in
developing countries - big money and big politics has
tremendous amounts of power and can employ barbaric
means to crush individuals who take up matters against
them. If a new legal
fi
rm tries to do the same - chances are
things will get ugly as well. Hence we need to begin with
this realization and cater to the cost and possibilities of
bringing retired military and in
fl
uentials with a good
conscience to employment into the proposed new legal
fi
rms in order to be able to go after legal pursuits in a way
where you actually stand a chance of winning because
you have leveled the power dynamic playing
fi
eld.

SUSTAINABLE
AGRICULTURE -
GROWING FRESH
FRUITS AND
VEGETABLES USING
RENEWABLE INPUTS.
Sundrop Farms in Port Augusta, South Australia is a pioneer of sustainable agriculture, with the
ability to grow fresh fruits and vegetables in a place previously considered too barren to grow
anything.
Given the lack of freshwater and its harsh climate, traditional horticulture isn’t feasible in this area.
Using technology, they have been growing delicious produce using seawater and sunlight instead.
Their 20-hectare greenhouses require no soil to grow the food and since there is no freshwater, the
company has built a 115m high solar tower with 23,000 mirrors pointing to it to power up a
desalination plant.
The facility processes over 1,000,000 liters of water per day, turning the Southern Ocean seawater
into fresh irrigation water, to produce 17,000 tons of tomatoes, accounting for 15% of Australia’s
annual produce.
The hydroponic farm with the desalination plat is ideal for places with no freshwater, inhospitable
land or harsh climate. It requires
fl
at land, access to seawater and sunlight to grow tomatoes,
cucumbers, peppers, and more.

09 CREDIPESA
(Easy access to credit for businesses and individuals)
Giving store owners credit lines that can used only to purchase
goods from partner network of CPGs. Shopkeepers pay back the
loan once they have sold the inventory of goods - repayments
come from pro
fi
ts; essentially de risking the capital of the
shopkeepers who live on daily wages (meagre as $2 per day).
By creating an ecosystem around small merchants this proposed
solution eventually moths into a b2c payments solution and a new
fi
n-tech ecosystem itself that leads to provision of value to
individuals, businesses alike.

and data. We supply both permanent installations and experiential
activations and can power o

capture and transmission, and environmental monitoring. Each
footstep on a Pavegen walkway generates 2 to 4 joules of o

electrical energy or around 5 watts of power for the duration of a
footstep. Bluetooth beacons in the system connect to smartphones,
rewarding users for their steps and generating permission-based

it’s venture capital industry (think: Google, Intel, Uber, and practically all companies mentioned
