3:1 Model of Service For SLP, OT, and PT services
What is the 3:1 Model? 3 weeks of direct therapy services in individual/group settings 1 week of collaborative indirect therapy services, which may include:  *  consultation  with team members,  * student  observation ,  *  data  collection and analysis,  *  development  of materials  * development of  assistive technology
Why Use the 3:1 Model? Supports  carry over  skills into the classroom because it encourages students to use new  skills in a  meaningful context Supports the  classroom teacher Increases  student achievement
Changes in Documentation: Summary of Services Page Will Indicate 3:1 Service Model  Prior Written Notice Will Report Change to 3:1 Model Notification Letter Will Be Sent to Parents
Students Will Benefit By… Improved classroom performance More time spent in the classroom Shorter duration of therapy needed Faster generalization of skills to a wider variety of settings
Teams Will Benefit By… More time to problem-solve and collaborate Time to develop innovative therapy materials and techniques A chance to see modeling in the classroom of prompts and cues Data collection in everyday settings (e.g., classroom, playground) Higher level of support to students
Anticipated Timeline for Implementation October 3 rd :   SLP/OT Meeting to Share with Therapists October 17 th :   Presentation to Special Education Teachers at Job Alike Meeting. October 18 th -29 th : Presentation to staff members at school sites by SLP/OT/PTs.  Work on updating IEPs and sending out letters to inform parents. October 29 th :  Information sent to parents Week of November 19 th -21 st :  First Collaborative Week
