Working Title:
What is it called? Super Car Magazine
Audience:
My audience is young people age 17+ because it’s a car magazine that offers advice. This is for
people who are looking for their first car or looking to change their car. The use and gratifications
the Magazine has is finding information and seeking advice on what car to buy. People might look
at the magazine for relaxation, as well as looking for information.
Why would your project appeal to this person? My magazine will appeal to this audience because
17+ is the legal age to start driving, and it will help them to make the right choice of car to buy and
which insurance company to use.
My magazine would appeal to this age group because it gives them advice and guidance, and it
tells them what to look out for when buying a car. Although most car magazines are mainly aimed
at boys, my magazine appeals to both genders because of what it’s promoting and the messages
it sends to the readers.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I decided to make a car magazine because they are something I’m really interested in and I know
a lot about them and how they work. I chose to make a magazine that gives young people advice
about buying a car because of my own experiences and what I’ve learnt from them. My magazine
will have everything people need to know. It will include articles about reliable makes/models,
Insurance and reliable insurance companies, tax and MOT etc. There will be another article which
is aimed at young people particularly because it will be a starter kit. This will include a list of
everything they need and will tell them about reliable cars for first time buyers.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I’m making a car magazine which offers advice about the best/reliable makes/models to buy and
advice on insurance. Information about the cars will include best for speed, best for comfort and
best for economy and what type of fuel it runs on. It will include what features each car has and an
explanation of what they do. I will make a separate article and talk about what the best fuel to use
is and why.
For the insurance, it will include how engine size affects the price, why its gender based, and
which insurance companies are trustworthy.
The layout of my magazine will be columns because it will look neat, organised and it won’t
confuse the readers. I will put subheadings at the top of each column/paragraph (depending on
whether an article goes into the next column) and I will place an image of the car in the same
column to let the reader see what it looks like.
For my research I will look on autotrader to find the best prices for cars for sale. This will include
information about economy and speed. I will look on various magazine websites to find information
on which car has the best comfort and what the best prices are.

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
In my evaluation I will write about what software I used, the tools I used and why I decided to use
them. I will write about how I did my research, how I planned to produce my magazine, how I
managed my time to make the magazine, technical qualities and how it appeals to the audience.
Finally, I will talk about the outcome of the magazine and whether I’m happy with it or not.
