5 TIPS FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS Entrepreneurs are intriguing and inexplicable conjurers of innovation. Regardless of their industry, idea or goal, all serve to teach lessons through their experiences and unique vision.
5 TIPS FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS LESSON 1. BE UNIQUE You will never succeed as an entrepreneur without clearly identifying the point of difference your product or service offers. What is your unique value proposition? What makes you a better alternative to your competitors? If you lack this sense of identity or don’t celebrate it loudly enough, you may also lose your competitive edge and longevity. So find it fast and set yourself apart. Do it Tomorrow Re-evaluate your value proposition. Try using a competitor’s brand name instead of your own. If it still makes sense you’ve got work to do.
5 TIPS FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS LESSON 2. BE PURPOSEFUL You don’t often hear of accomplished entrepreneurs emulating their success by accident. While it can be argued that it is not a science, there is certainly a mentality all successful entrepreneurs share that focuses on backing yourself and proceeding with purpose - even against paralysing uncertainty. Goals are incomplete without hurdles and deadlines. Are you determined enough to take risks and work hard on the long road to achieve them? Do it Tomorrow Set goals for the next 6 months right through to 5 years. Keep these goals in a spot where you will see them every day.
5 TIPS FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS LESSON 3. BE RESILIENT Reinvention. Entrepreneurs are addicted to it. They fail fast, they adapt and learn from the experience. But they can’t reinvent themselves without developing a steely resilience. If you fall down, get back up and move forward with motivation and a positive attitude. Your audience is more likely to get on board the journey with you if they know you’ve had to fight for it. Do it Tomorrow Make a list of challenges you have overcome. Build resilience by acknowledging these successes and taking comfort in the fact that you know how to bounce back.

The biggest innovations in our history have come from entrepreneurs and visionaries that have refused to accept ‘impossible’, so why should you? Do it Tomorrow Before breakfast, write down five ideas that are impossible. Not only will it be a great exercise to overcome blocks in your business, it might just lead to an idea that changes everything.

Specifically, why it’s going to disrupt the status quo and add value to your future investors, team members, board etc. At the core of being able to do this is an understanding of how to build rapport with a range of personalities. A good exercise for becoming a great communicator is challenging yourself with personalities you don’t get along with or people who don’t buy into your product idea. If you can convert your biggest critics then you stand a much better chance of converting everyone else. Do it Tomorrow Disagree with someone you know who has great interpersonal skills. Take note of the methods they employ to get you on-side.
