60 Second Pitches
Jessica Underwood
Pitch 1: Film Trailer
• I aim to make a film trailer of the horror/thriller genre because I enjoyed
creating a film opening sequence of the same genre as part of my AS
coursework.
• Technical conventions I will use include canted angles, extreme close ups,
depth of field and sudden sounds within quiet scenes to build tension
within the audience.
• The trailer will feature a chase scene which will be continued throughout
the duration, however I will cut to flashbacks of the events that took place
beforehand. She will have been experiencing supernatural things happen
in her house OR there could be an intruder.
• The chase scene will build suspense as well as conform to genre
conventions.
• Non diegetic sound of her breathing heavily and panicking throughout
• Target audience of both genders aged 15 and upwards
Pitch 2: Film Trailer
• Psychological Thriller
• Themes of reality, death and identity are key conventions of this particular
genre.
• Girl is being followed in the woods shortly after a murder has taken place
there/nearby, unaware that she is being stalked. She gets abducted by her
stalker. The ending scene will show the antagonist stealing the girls
identity, however their own identity will not be revealed to the audience.
• Props that are distinct to the victims appearance (e.g. glasses)
• Incorporate elements of action and mystery (the stalkers identity would
not be revealed to the audience)
• Target audience of both genders ages 15 and upwards
Pitch 3: Film Trailer
• Also a thriller with a sub-genre of horror
• Set in a house during the night time (more sinister setting)
• A group of friends are sat watching tv and begin to hear noises, they
search for the source of the sound but come back to find that things have
been moved
• Theme of the supernatural – poltergeists, demons?
• Target audience of both males and females aged 15 and upwards
• Conventions used will be typical of the horror thriller genre; dark lighting,
dark colouring (colours such as red and black)
