The document discusses casting choices and plans for costumes, props, and setting for a film project. It selects Oscar Jenkinson and Georgia Stickley for the lead roles due to their acting experience and ability to portray realistic emotions. Fifteen supporting actors are also chosen who have drama experience through school productions. Costumes will reflect the era's Britpop fashion for youthful scenes and more conservative neutral colors for older scenes to show the characters have become boring over time. Props like a mirror, hairspray, alcohol will establish characters and story elements like getting ready, relationships, and age-appropriate beverages for teenage and adult party scenes.
2. I have decided to cast Oscar Jenkinson as the protagonist
because, with his background in background in performing in
all of the school productions, he will be able to present the
variety of emotions in a very realistic way. I need the acting of
this character to be realistic in order for the video to be
effective which is something that I think Oscar can easily bring
to the role. Also, my intended target audience of 30+ will have
been around Oscar’s age (17) when Disco 2000 was released
which means that they will be able to relate to his character as
they know what it’s like to be a teenager in this era.
I have decided to cast Georgia Stickley as Deborah. Once
again, she is of the same age as Oscar which will be relatable
to my target audience. Through doing drama A level, I believe
that Georgia has the acting skills necessary for this role. I got
the chance to watch Georgia’s A Level piece for drama and she
demonstrated a realistic acting technique that will be perfect
for this role. As well as this, Oscar and Georgia are good
friends which means that they will have a believable
relationship which will work well with the narrative.
3. Supporting Actors
This group of people have agreed to act as party guests in my
film. The group consists of: Isabella Rix, Jake Adams, Matilda
White, Rosie Mabb, Sophie Bradwell, Eve Soloman, Beth Swan,
Sarah Brooks, Sam Whittingham, Rowan Ellwell, Dexter Gibson,
Mabel Collins, Faegan White, Toby Matthews and Stanley
Gulliford.
They all have acting experience having either done GCSE Drama, A
Level Drama or been in the productions. They will be convincing
actors and are already a group of friends so will have a believable
friendship relationship on camera.
4. In my target audience research, I discovered that 100% of my
intended target audience (30+) agreed that the song made
them feel nostalgic. Therefore, in order to adhere to this, I have
decided to incorporate elements of the era into my video. One
of the ways I will do this is through the mise-en-scene of the
dress code. In the first party scene where all the characters are
in their youth, I intend for them to be wearing fashion which
resembles Britpop fashion. Therefore, girls will be in A line skirts
and boots and boys will be in mod cut suits or shirts with larger
collars. This part of my video will be in black and white so it’ll
be difficult to convey colour, therefore, I would like to use lots
of patterns to allude to the youth and energy of the characters.
5. In order to accentuate the idea that the people have
grown up and got boring, I plan for my cast to wear
more boring, conservative clothing in the second
half of my video. This part will be in colour so I
intend to use a lot of neutral colours in order to
further comply with the idea of boringness.
6. Above are examples of props I will be using in my video. The mirror will be vital for the bedroom scenes
where the protagonist is getting ready. In this scene he will also use hairspray to do his hair. On the mirror will
be pictures of him and Deborah which are also important factors to the story because it anchors the idea of
Deborah being a love interest for the protagonist. At the party there will be alcohol. In the first party scene
where they are all young, the alcohol will consist of beers and alcopops because these are cheaper options
which will be more likely to be consumed by teenagers. However, in the second party scene where everyone
is grown up, the alcohol will consist more of win and champagne because people will be more likely to have
stable jobs and, therefore, more money to spend on alcohol.
