Durkheim s theories make sense and are for me a nice and fluffy way of looking at Religion, but
I have a feeling that if he were to see the route Religion has gone down in modern society would
he still feel the same about the majority of Religions, for example the scandal s in the Catholic
church over the past forty years that are only really surfacing now. And Weber s thoughts were
more rational as that what was expected of people was to keep their heads down and they would
eventually be rewarded with Heaven.
Even if in today s society more numbers are in decline of practicing religion, Marx s views on
the subject are definitely the most valid. There expectations of people may not be as extreme as
they were back in the 1800 s of their followers as they are now, but of the three, Marx s views are
the most realistic of what Religion truly is. His ability to see what religion was actually doing to
people s lives back then is remarkable and for his words to still have such relevance now in
modern society shows that he was extremely perceptive of society. Marxism also assumes that
Religion will eventually disappear and for someone to envisage that from over one hundred years
ago is clearly someone who knew what they were talking about. And that is why I chose Marx.

Schools now provide laptops for the students to use throughout the school year for note taking and

down and address the vital information. To start off, using a laptop in class will prevent you
from learning. Many people that use laptops in class to take notes are easily distracted by the

revealed what the students were doing on their laptops during class. A majority (64%) of the
respondents reported using their laptops during at least one class session. They reported using
their laptops to take course notes (83.3%), send email (81%), send and receive instant messages
(68%), surf the internet (43%), and play games (25%). An additional 35% reported using their

thought to be extremely rare in neonates. It has been reported in several neonates and adults,
making it clear that the condition may develop in any age group. The true incidence of
pyonephrosis with other renal infections has not been reported. However, the risk of pyonephrosis
is increased in patients with upper urinary tract obstruction and with patients who are
immunocompromised or antibiotics for a long period of time (Peterson, A. Schwartz, B. 2014).

include: flank pain, fever, nausea and vomiting, little or no urine and a weak and narrow urine
stream. The symptoms of peritonitis, abdominal pain, tenderness, abdominal distension, diarrhea or
constipation with the inability to pass gas may also be present.
Sepsis is common in severe untreated cases, especially in immunocompromised patients. Apart
from the other symptoms mentioned above, there may also be rapid heart rate and a rapid
breathing rate in sepsis. When the mental status is altered and the blood pressure is very low,
severe sepsis or septic shock has arisen and death is a very likely consequence (Chris, n.d.).

presentation and the patient s medical history. When urine cannot be collected due to the
obstruction, a sample has to be removed from the collecting system of the kidney.

I liked David Almond s choice of characters. Skellig is a character that is not often found in
children s literature, he is gentle, yet spooky and human/non human. Michael the main character
grows into a stronger person by the end of the story, we watch him grow. I liked Mina as she is a
strong minded character who has certain beliefs which are explored in the story.
The narrative voice of this story is in the first person of Michael so we are automatically asked to
emphasise with him. I really liked the phrase `he laughed but did not smile . This phase was often
said throughout referring to Skellig. I thought the language used was effective however there was
swearing in the book which may not be appropriate to children and I thought it was irrelevant.
The passages that have stayed in my mind most vividly are chapter twenty where Michael takes
Mina to see Skellig and chapter thirty nine when Michael s mom described the dream she had had.
I was most touched by chapter twenty eight when Michael could not feel the heart beat, I thought
the baby had died and was relieved to find she had not.
I did not really dislike any part of this book but I did not like the pain the family had to go through
