Animation originated from the Latin word "Animatio" meaning "the act of bringing life." It is the process of creating the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of images differing slightly from each other. An animator is an artist who creates multiple frames that give the illusion of movement when displayed rapidly. Some notable Filipino animators who have worked for major studios include Bobby Pontillas of Frozen, Ruben Aquino of The Little Mermaid, and Armand Serrano of Big Hero 6. The Philippines has developed its own style of animation incorporating Filipino culture and stories.
