 Introduction:
 Local Name:Baash
 Family:Poaceae
Natural occurance: It is native to warm and moist tropical and warm temperate climates. However, many species are found in
diverse climates, from hot tropical regions to cool mountainous regions and highland cloud forests.
 Scientific classification:
Kingdom-Plantae

Subclass-Monocots
Superorder-Commelinids
Order-Poales
Family-Poaceae
Subfamily-Bambusoideae
Tribes-Olyreae (herbaceous bamboos)Bambuseae (tropical woody bamboos)
Arundinarieae (temperate woody bamboos)
There are many species of bamboo, and there scientific name s incudes Phyllostachys, Bambusa arundinacea ,
chusquea, borinda, fargesia and himalayacalmus. Other species are brachystachyum, chimonobambusa,
dendrocalamus and schizostachyum.

but often doesn't grow well on the dry soils

Uses of Bamboo:
 Culinary: It is concerns with young shoot use to consume as different delicious dish .In
Nepal a delicacy popular across ethnic boundaries consists of bamboo shoots fermented with
turmeric and oil, and cooked with potatoes into a dish that usually accompanies rice (alu tama
(आलु तामा) in Nepalii).
 It is used as Medicine: It is used as traditional Chinese Medicine
 Construction: True wood ,Composite material,Simpe suspension bridge,nipe hut,
 Textiles: Fibers of bamboo to short (royan)
 As writing documents: Bamboo was in widespread use in early China as a medium for
written documents.
 It is used as weapon.
 It is used in musical instruments.
