Best Practices in Integrating Analytics into Your Environment
Agenda
 Prerequisites
 Deployment
 Customization
 Real Life Experience – Pinnacol Assurance
 Expansion
 What’s Next? Training and Preparation
2
Prerequisites
Be Prepared! – Prerequisites
Define the appropriate users
 Knowledge of underlying Kofax data/processes
 Roles and responsibilities
Create functional workflow
 When and where are analytics
used in my process?
 Segmentation by functional area,
geography, etc.
Review out-of-the-box components
 Start with what’s there
 Fit/gap against actual requirements
4
System Requirements - Installation
Obtain correct versions of underlying Kofax software
 Kofax Analytics for Capture™
 Kofax Capture™ 9 or 10
 Kofax Transformation Modules™ 5.5 FP16
 Kofax Analytics for TotalAgility®
 Kofax TotalAgility 7.02
Hardware
 Processor, RAM
 Dedicated server(s)
5
System Requirements - Software
Software
 .NET 4.5
 IIS
 Metadata repository (database)
 Dashboard client (web browser)
 Insight software
 Connection to Kofax data
6
Kofax Analytics for Capture - Event Listener/Sender
Event Listener:
 Web Service connection to Kofax workflow agent
 Each Kofax Capture workstation that processes data, including
remote sites, must have access to Event Listener
 Runs on IIS; can be secured with SSL
 Note: on Windows 2012, must enable .NET Framework 4.5
and HTTP activation
Event Sender:
 Every workstation at central/remote sites
 Sends data from Kofax Capture to Kofax Analytics for Capture
 Analytics tab added to Kofax Capture administration module
7
Deployment
Environment Considerations
 Get license key – analytics is separate install
 Which environments are in use?
 Data needs to come from a “live” environment
 Example use:
 Use development environment
 Run sample batches through system
 Produce reports in Kofax Analytics for Capture
 Push changes to next environment and re-test
 Use import/export within Insight to manage deployments
9
Creating a New Project
 Projects contain built-in data sources, views and dashboards for
Kofax Analytics for Capture
 Configure connections
 Load data – define frequency
 Create and assign users and roles
 Assign data filters
 Define email settings
10
More on Deployment
Admin user
 Set data filtering preferences
 Define execution plans
 Set and manage alerts
User configuration
 Manage projects, users, role settings
 User authentication
 Alerts
 Projects and DB access
 Log files
11
Customization
Dashboard Designer
What’s it for?
 Reuse and combine dashboards
 Filter, aggregate or animate charts and grids
 Customize templates
How to use it?
 Save off predefined views to make your own edits – keep
original project “pristine”
 Create filters to restrict data by dimension(s)
 Define alerts – messages sent in response to certain
conditions
More Dashboard Customization
 Embedded views
 Custom images – logos and branding
 Pivot tables
 Data markers
 Process charts
 Time options
 Drill-downs

Lean, Continuous Process Improvement — and KPIs
 Reporting only one part of the equation
 New directives to comply with Lean Six Sigma
 Continuous process improvement
 Must have Key Performance Indicators
 Must have visibility to identify bottlenecks before they become
business problems
 Must have visibility to identify business process trends and usage

User Productivity Reports
22
System Configuration Accuracy
23
System Usage and Trending
24
Expansion
Expanding Further...
 Analytics can be extended to bring in new data sources
 Operational data (other capture-related systems)
 Quality control
 Financials
 HR
 CRM
 And more
 Full insight platform required
 Segmentation of environments – projects by functional area
