White blood cells and red blood cells have different structures and functions.
White blood cells are irregularly shaped with extensions, have a nucleus, and move throughout the body to fight infections. Their nucleus and granules allow them to slip between cells and engulf bacteria.
Red blood cells are biconcave discs without a nucleus and carry oxygen. Their shape maximizes surface area for gas diffusion while preventing getting stuck in small blood vessels.
