Burj Al Arab is a 321m tall hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the second tallest hotel in the world. Construction began in 1994 and was completed in 1999 at a cost of $650 million. The hotel is built on an artificial island 280m off the coast of Jumeirah Beach and is connected to the mainland by a private bridge.

11. It took less than three years to construct the building. The building contains over 70,000 m 3 of concrete and 9,000 tons of steel.
