Silvicultural
Characteristics refer
to the different
features of the trees
including its
tolerance, sensitivity,
nature of growth and
survival
SILVICULTURAL
CHARACTERISTICS
1. Light
2. Frost
3. Drought
4. Fire
5. Coppice
6. Browsing
7. Nature of
Trees
8. Soil type
9. Root System
10. Associated
species
Following Characters are considered while
defining silvicultural characteristics
Terminalia chebula
Introduction : Terminalia chebula is a species of Terminalia native to Southeast Asia, and
found within the altitude of 1100 m . It occurs in the deciduous and semi deciduous forests . It
is mainly known for its medicinal benefits
Light Light demander…….........................3
Frost It is fairly frost hardy……………………..2
Drought Drought resistant to some extent………2
Fire Fire tolerant and can recover well after burning…………1
Coppice It coppices well, but pollards badly , does not produce root suckers ……1
Browsing Browse sensitive. Seedlings are heavily damaged by browsing………3
Tree Nature A medium to large deciduous tree………………………..2
Soil PH Best grow in 5.5. to 6.5 soil PH (Acidic)……………………1
Root System Tap root system………………………………………………..1
Associated
species
It is associated with other species of Termialia spps. and Shorea robusta Forest .
SILVICULTURAL CHARCTERISTICS (322113211Shorea )
Kingdom: Plantae

BOTANICAL CLASSIFICATION
Uses of Terminalia chebula
 It is used for Liver disease and intestinal diseases
 It is used to heal wounds and respiratory diseases
