Welcome to this amazing and exicting presentation about Coronation Street- the
Uk’s leading soap opera for Itv.
In this presentation, I will show you 7 incredible moments throughout
the last 53 amazing, fun, joyful and talent years on Wetherfield.
We have had highs, lows, tantrums, drama, deaths, marriages and
births brought to life on set in Manchester England. This is one of
England’s great soap operas.
Beginnings of the Street
Coronation Street began on December 6th 1960 on Itv. The original plan for the
soap was that it was only to have a 2 week placement on air. After a
couple of wekks, the soap became a fixture on ITV.
The very first actor to play a key role in the soap was William Roache
who has played Ken Barlow for 53 years.
Between 1960-1972, their was not enough actors and actresses to play
the role until Helen Worth, Sally Webster and many others came into
the street.
Rovers Returns
The Rovers Return is the local pub used in Coronation Street. It has
been owned by Steve who is played by Simon Gregson, Liz who is
played by Bev Callard and Michelle who is played by Kym Marsh.
Their has also been other staff members working here such as Gloria
Price, Stelia and Karl and Eva who is a member of the pub.
The famous dish Betty’s hotpot was made by Betty Turner who was a
regular member of the street until 2011 when she died.
Nick’s Bistro
In Coronation Street, Nick Platt owes a restaurant which has been run
up by members of staff involving Gail and his ex Leanne working for
him in the bar.
The first bistro was up and running until the tramic crash in December
2010, afterwards, the bistro was built again to let members of the
street come in for a bite to eat on a night time.
Their have been a lot of scenes recently between Leanne, Gail,
Michael’s son Gavin and his new friend working with him on the street.
Roy & Hayley
Roy and Hayley Cropper were a great couple on the street for 17 great
years. They both ran Roy’s Rollence Café in the street until 2013 when
Hayley was dignosed with cancer. This would be here last scenes on
the street as she was about to leave Roy and die in their home at the
back of the café.
After Hayley death, Roy now owns the café with Anna, Gary and
sometimes Mary. The café is also another hospitality place for the
street members to have a bite to eat if they don’t want to go to Nick’s
Bistro.
The Platt’s Family
The Platt’s family are one of the most inconic street families. The
family consist of Gail, Audrey, David, Nick and his two children Max
and Lilly.
Gail MC’Ytre is a well known face played by actress Helen Worth who
has been on the street for 40 amazing years. She has looked after
David and had numerous bad fathers who died except Michael who is
played by Les Dennis.
Audrey Roberts is played by Sue Roberts, she owns Audrey’s hair
which is across the road from Number 1 where they all live.
Nick Platt owes the bistro which I have mentioned in another slide
previously. He works with Leanne and Steph with his new fiancée
Gavin.
David & Family
David Platt is a well known actor played by Jack P
Shephard. He was introduced in 1998 as a child to Gail.
Between the years of 2000-2010, he was a naughty
teenager causing problems for Gail and his family.
After 2010, David got engaged to Kylie who became his
wife who had a child called Max and gave birth to a little
girl called Lilly.
The Barlows
The Barlows consisted of Ken, Dedire, Blanche, Tracy,
Peter, Amy and Simon. Ken and Diedre were the most
famous characters on the street played by William Roache
and the legend Anne Kirkbride.
Blanche was played by Maggie Jones who became another
part of the family. She would annoy Dedire and make fun
of her. She died In 2010 and had her funeral played on the
street.
Tracy and Peter are siblings of the family. They look after
Amy and Simon who became regular fixtures between 2010
and 2009.
Ken, Blanche, Deidre
Ken, Deidre and Blanche were the first 3 to play the main
roles in the Barlow Family. Ken has been the longest
serving member of the street since 1960.
Blanche was played by Maggie Jones who came into the
soap after Ken, She played his mother and loved to
entertain people around the family. She would interact
with Ken and Deidre.
Deidre was played by Anne Kirkbride who came onto the
street in 1982, she played Ken’s daughter until October 8th
2014.
Tracy & Peter
Tracy & Peter are the siblings of Ken and Deidre. They
have played roles since 2000. Tracy has been played by
Kate Ford who got into trouble when she killed Charlie
Stubbs. She was sentenced for 15 years in prison before
coming out in December 2011. She is the mother to Amy.
Peter has been played by Chris Gascoyne who had 2 affairs
with Carla and Leanne. He had a son called Simon who is
been looked after by Leanne and Carla as he left in 2014.
Becky M’C Donald
Becky M’C Donald was introduce to the street by being
jailed in a cell, after this scene, she became one of the
most important people on the street.
She owned the Rovers with Steve before leaving on a high
by high tracking Tracy and Steve’s wedding and telling him
the truth about Tracy affair to Peter. She was also the
mother of Max who gave it to Kylie after she left the
soap.
Underworld
Underworld is a factory for some of the street residents
to go and have work on nickers.
The office is owned by Carla Connor with Michelle Connor
who is played by Kym Marsh. The factory is open every day
for the residents to come and nicker in the factory.
Carla & her men
Carla Connor is a main character in Coronation Street, in
her time on the street, she has had men who have made
her cross, angry and also made her take lots of sacrifcies
and risks for her businesses such as Frank and Tony.
Kabin Shop
The Kabin is the main shop in Coronation Street. It is
owned by Rita, Norris and Emily and Mary
The shop supplies local goods such as newspapers, sweets
and magazines.
Norris is very cheeky to Rita and plays a good actor and
actresses in the street.
