   Counseling is a discussion of an emotional
    problem with an employee so that he can
    cope with the problem in a much better way.
    Counseling tries to improve the mental health
    of the employee .
   Counseling doesn’t mean just talking about
    a certain problem and finding a solution
   It’s a long and lengthy procedure
   In fast moving society an employee is facing
    several problems which is related with the
    job.
   Every management desires that their
    employees should not only physically fit but
    also mentally alert.

   “Counseling is a relationship between the
    counselor and counselee characterized by the
    trust and openness in one to one or in a
    small group relationship whereby the
    counselee is helped to work through his
    interpersonal and intrapersonal problems and
    crisis”
 There  are also three types of counseling—
  directive and participative, non-directive
  counseling .
 In directive counseling, the counselor
  identifies the problem and tells the person
  being counseled what to do about it.

 BOTH PARTIES PLAN HOW THE PROBLEM WILL
  BE ANALYSED & SOLVED
 In
   non-directive counseling, the person being
 counseled identifies the problem and
 determines the solution with the help of the
 counselor. The counselor has to determine
 which of the two types, or some appropriate
 combination, to apply to each situation
 Identifythe problem. Counselor have to
  make sure that he/she really knows what the
  problem is.
 Advice guide him to the desired
 Analyze the forces influencing the behavior.
 Determine which of these forces you have
  control over and which of the forces the
  employee has control over.
 Determine the force which has to be
  modified, eliminated, or enforced.
  Plan, coordinate, and organize the session &
  Determine the best time to conduct the
  session
 Clarified Thinking (in realistic &rational to
  solve the emotional problems)
 Counselor can write a plan for an action
 Allot a session at least for 30 minutes
 Remove all the distractions (Phone , Visitors,
  etc)
 Set a date for follow up.
 Communication
Communication gap should not take place.
 Ask the employee how you ,the supervisors ,
  can assistance.
 State the consequences for not correcting
 Be clear about the reasons and define your
  goals.
 Give the employee notice and time.
 Remove the physical barriers (Don’t sit
  behind the desk)
 Write out what the plan what you are going to
  say and rehearse
 Plan to take documents and develop a record
  of corrective action.
 During the session, determine what the
  employee believes causes the counter
  productive behavior and what will be required
  to change it.
  Provide a support or resources when
  appropriate.
 Using all the facts, make a decision and/or a
  plan of action to correct the problem. If more
  counseling is needed, set a firm date and
  time for the next session.
 Counseling   is a way of working with people
 who have reached a crisis in their lives. This
 can take in many forms either relationship
 difficulties , lack of self esteem, mental
 health problems etc. Counseling is a way to
 help you find your own way to lead a more
 satisfying and fulfilling life
