Teen Rebellion In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Teen Rebellion is a common theme throughout movies, literature, and song lyrics. Teen rebellion is a
normal action through teen years. Teen rebellion is caused by wanting to prove a point and a craving
for freedom. During teenage years you always want prove a point weather to an authority figure or
even to yourself. Also teens are growing into adults and tend to grave freedom. In Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet both Romeo and Juliet rebel against their families. The two families of Romeo and
Juliet are the most bitter enemies and only care for murdering the other family. Romeo of the
Montagues and Juliet of the Capulets are now falling in love with each other but know that the war
being families will be a complication to their love. Romeo

Self-Destruction In Macbeth
Mesha Singh
December 9th 2016 Macbeth s Self Destruction *BA BOOM !!
Period 1 Morals , Self control ,emotion: like these make us humane. Morality is essential to humanity.
Self control allows us to resist the greed and power. Emotion makes us feel , feelings are humane and
without them these things would mean nothing, without these things humanity drifts away from the
soul. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth loses his self control, and he makes rash and quick decisions, like
killing his own best friend. Making quick and rash decisions, blinded by greed and power, leads to one
s own self destruction . Power is super important; without power we would be defenseless and fall
prey to the superior. Self control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morals are the base of our own beliefs and personality . In the play Macbeth it is expressed that One
cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other,/ As they had seen me with these hangman s hands. /List ning
their fear, I could not say Amen, / When they did say God bless us . Methought, I heard a voice cry,
Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . (2.237 47) . This is so important he is filled to the top
proximity of shame and guilt he can t even say the word Amen fearing god will punish him for saying
such thing out of a disgusting human being. He is torn between on sleeping and not being able to talk
to god to let out all frustrations , he can t talk to his wife because he fears of his manhood being
taunted . He knows he has done something extremely bad showcasing his morals . The next quote how
in Act 4 towards the end of the book how he as absolutely no care in the world except money I grant
him bloody Luxurious, avaricious, false, deceitful, Sudden, malicious, smacking of every sin That has
a name. (4.3.70 73). The part when Macduff realizes how cruel and greedy macbeth is . For someone
to say that it is horrible to show how you showcase your humane behavior . This is a prime example
how he was blinded and lost everything he doesn t care . What this play really teaches is that being
blinded by power is a mistake most

Reviving the razor and blade system market means higher gross profit margin for the company
b. It goes well for the innovativeness of the company.
c. The company can practice its expertise to it.
Cons a. Developing a strategy to impede the growth of disposable razors entails huge amount of time,
money effort.
b. The possibility of successful outcome for this strategy is very low as the disposable razors are the
wave of the future.
c. The decrease in the market for disposable razors would mean a decrease in profits from disposable
razors as well.

The Power Of Russia
The Russian Federation has been one of the world s greatest Super Powers and it has been for well
over a century. However, is Russia still considered the once great powerful nation that it once was?
Although, prior to 2009, Russia was using weapons that were decades old, the superpower continued
to maintain one of the largest militaries in the world. Russia s economy suffered a dramatic hit due to
a recession that it is slowly emerging from. The unwavering support of its allies has gradually
dwindled due to recent actions Russia s key leaders have taken; even so, there have been some key
improvements over the last few years that prove Russia may be moving towards a brighter future.
These few factors weigh into the debate and each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, until the equipment and weapon arsenal have reached a complete state of improvement, the
Russian military will continue to fall behind the rest of the World Super Powers. The state of the
Russian economy does not make the situation any better. Oil makes up two thirds of the total exports
from Russia, despite multiple discussions to diversify resource reliance (David, 2017). The global
financial crisis of 2009, coupled with falling oil prices, international sanctions, and structural
limitations pushed Russia into a deep recession in 2015, with the GDP falling by close to 4%. (CIA
World Factbook, 2017). The contracting economy continues into 2016, with the GDP falling another
0.6%, expecting to fall by another 5% in 2017 if oil continues below $40 per barrel. Without an
immediate negotiation to either lift trade sanctions or find an alternative resource dependence, the
economic decline will continue. Trade sanctions emplaced after the Crimea incident in 2014 were
implemented by the European Union (EU) and the United States to target the Russian financial,
energy, and defense sectors (Lee, 2016). The continued devaluation of the Russian ruble multiplied the
effect of strain on the fledgling nation. Currency values fell approximately 50% since the middle of
2014; in turn, making it more expensive for Russia to import from other countries. The future of
Russia s economy is uncertain. Unless their leadership

Flexible Racial Identity
Racial identity and flexibility may be interpreted in a variety of ways. However, in reality they go
hand in hand. Racial identity is defined as a sense of collective identity based on one s perception that
he or she shares a common heritage with a specific racial group. On the other hand, racial identity can
be considered as flexible or easily modified. Racial identity and flexibility intertwine because without
each other, self identifying would not be possible. In Hua Hsu s essay, The End of White America? he
argues in support of racial identity and flexibility complementing one another. This specifically shows
that as society further evolves from being ignorant of race and culture, the closer mankind gets to
eradicating the idea of a dominant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Understanding the concept of racial identity and flexibility is imperative in order to see the gray areas
of life that help avoid the hardships that humans like McBride encountered. But sometimes different
minorities and white Americans tend to believe that by clinging on to the dominant race one may
move ahead. Not only does this promote racial supremacy, but clinging on to the idea of a dominant
race also promotes anti miscegenation. Racial supremacy is the belief that race is responsible for the
differences in human character and that a specific race is superior to others. This belief alone is bad,
however, paired with anti miscegenation which is a law from McBride s time period that prohibits
interracial relations or marriage, it has a synergistic effect which can be seen throughout his
experiences growing up as a black Jewish boy with a white mother. In the 1960s it was bad enough
being an African American because of the amount of judgment that was received for one s skin tone,
but even worse because of those who believed in white supremacy. Naturally, McBride has many
questions for his mother in regards to his identity and who he belongs to or should classify himself
with. This, in turn, causes a gap between McBride and his mother. A clear example can be seen when

Crime Victims Rights Act
Crime Victims Rights Act
According to the United States Department of Justice (2014), a crime victim has the following rights:
(1) the right to be reasonably protected from the accused, (2) the right to reasonable, accurate, and
timely notice of any public court proceeding, or ay parole proceeding, involving the crime or of any
release or escape of the accused, (3) the right not to be excluded from any such public court
proceeding, unless the court, after receiving clear and convincing evidence, determines that testimony
by the victim would be materially altered if the victim heard other testimony at that proceeding, (4)
the right to be reasonably heard at any public proceeding in the district court involving release, plea,
sentencing, or any parole proceeding, (5) the reasonable right to confer with the attorney for the
Government in the case, (6) the right to full and timely restitution as provided in law, (7) the right to
proceedings free from unreasonable delay and (8) the right to be treated with fairness and with respect
for the victim s dignity and privacy.
The Crime Victims Rights Act has had an incredible impact on the Justice Department and one at a
time, on victims of federal crime. Ever since the CVRA s passage, there has been a dramatic change in
the role that the victims play within federal criminal cases. Victims are now participating in cases in
larger numbers than they did before by, exercising their right to be heard, receiving notifications of

The Nature Of People s Beliefs
Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs. Throughout history people s beliefs
have differed. At one time people may believe one idea and decades later people may completely
disagree with that idea. Not even the ideas of the law are exempt from this occurrence. Since the
spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Seeing law in different
ways people can come to different conclusions about specific cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a
controversial law in American history. The Fugitive Slave Law allowed slave owners to capture their
slaves who have fled North to free states. In United States v Morris, the emancipators challenged the

Philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas describes the Natural Law theory as a theory coming from the
eternal law which is God s law imprinted on us. People determine moral issues from what is right and
wrong. Aquinas did think the answers for the moral issues were clear; however, he still asserted that
sometimes it is hard for people to decipher what was right and wrong. Aquinas thinks laws come from
the conclusions made from basic human knowledge knowing right and wrong. The law of nature
derives from morality Aquinas would say that morality and justice are serve from the moral law and
justice, and is what morality requires of us (Aquinas). Morality requires us to act righteously. If a law
is not moral, thus it is not a law I don t see that you have explained why Aquinas thinks that. The
Fugitive Slave Law goes against the laws of nature. Humans have their own free will and the law of
nature does not permit one human to claim another human. People are not property and have their own
free will. Obviously, morality says people are not possessions. One cannot approach a person and say,
I own you. It is not morally justifiable. According to Aquinas, the Fugitive Slave Law is not a real law
because it does not follow morality. At the time of the Fugitive Slave Law, people knew slavery was
wrong; so, the jurors in Morris did conduct in the appropriate manner. As stated before, natural law
theory states a law requires morality. The jurors

Nursing Mobility And Safety
Mobility and safety are two nursing topics that are very related. Safety is the key to ensure that the
patient can remain mobile. It is important that the patient has ways to move around without fear of
falling. It is also imperative that the patient knows how to move safely and use mobility devices. The
nurse needs to understand how these two topics go together to ensure that the patient will remained
unharmed at the hospital and in the home. As stated earlier, safety is so important to make sure that
patient keeps their mobility. The surroundings need to be safe to prevent falls. When falls are
prevented, the patient remains mobile. One safety precautions to ensure that falls do not happen is to
have a clear area for the patient to be able to walk around. This means not having objects in their
pathway or rugs in their walkway. Having these objects in the way can cause the patient to have a fall.

There might be certain movements that can affect mobility in the future or could re injure they
surgical site. For example, after a hip replacement surgery patients are given and abduction pillow.
According to Hip Rehab After Surgery , the pillow is used to prevent the patient from dislocating their
new hip. After the surgery for safety reasons their mobility must be restricted while it heals. When
they do the surgery, they cut through muscles and those have to grow back. This will prevent further
injury and the patient will be able to get back their normal mobility after it is healed. Although there
are certain actions that post operation patients cannot do they still need to be mobile. The patient is
moved as soon as the patient is able to handle it. Getting the patient up will prevent blood clots in their
legs and promote blood circulation. Proper blood flow to the legs will mean that they can remain

Is America An Improbable Idea
An improbable idea statistically means something that is unlikely to happen. Some people could
describe America as an improbable idea because the abundance of freedom American citizens possess
could possibly cause chaos. Another reason why people might say that America is an improbable idea
is because, the idea of numerous groups of people coming together into one country might be thought
of as disorder but in reality, America succeeds through devastating events of terrorism and common
religious beliefs, for the majority of the people, despite being an improbable idea. America succeeds
through common religious beliefs of citizens. In Lincoln s second inaugural address, he states that the
majority of American citizens pray to the same God

Proposed Changes Of Medicaid Expansion On Florida And...
Proposed Changes There have been a few proposed changes to Medicaid Expansion in Florida and
other states. These proposed changes have included 1915 and 1115 waivers, including long term care
programs. Florida has an uninsured rate of 20 percent (Rose, 2015). This represents a great need for
insurance coverage expansion and cost savings in Florida. Previous proposed changes have been
successful in some aspects, but do not answer all of these elements.
Many forms of 1915 and 1115 waivers have been proposed and implemented in Florida and other
states in the past. According to Holahan, Coughlin, Lipson, Rajan (1995), the section 1115 research
and demonstration waivers are designed to allow states to develop new solutions to health and welfare
problems. The federal government may waive some standard Medicaid rules if the change is deemed
to be budgetary, no higher than it would have been expected without the waiver (Holahan et al., 1995).
States using these waivers have proposed to save money by using managed care plans for current
Medicaid patients, and limiting the cost of new Medicaid enrollees (Holahan et al., 1995).
These proposals often focus on using hospital DSH payments to expand coverage rather than using
these sums to make payments to hospitals, using savings from reductions in other programs, or
proposing new revenues (Holahan et al., 1995). The goal is to expand coverage at small new costs to
the government (Holahan et al., 1995). The key features of

Art Reflection Paper
When I visited the Tampa Museum of Art, I walked around looking at all of the beautiful artwork on
display. I chose a piece that stuck out to me and reminded me of the carnivals and fairs I went to
growing up in my hometown with family. Choosing just one piece to write about was a difficult
decision, but I chose to write about Carrousels by Don Jacot. This piece was created with oil on linen
in 1992 and is 50x72 . I believe the subject matter of this piece has to do with childhood and
memories. I noticed in this piece that there were not many people on the rides or around the picture at
all. This interested me, so I decided to look at other artworks he has created and most of the others are
empty as well. I feel this has something to do with him having an empty childhood, but still has the
memories of him going out. He also tends to lean more towards using the brighter primary colors such
as red, blue, and yellow. I figured he chose these because a child would be more fascinated in
something bright and colorful instead of dull and plain. One of the formal elements that stood out to
me the most was color. I chose this because color is such a big aspect in this piece of work. Blue, red,
and yellow are the most used in this work and are brightly intensified. The vibrant colors caught my
eye right away when I saw the picture. The second formal element that is shown in this picture is line.
I feel this element goes with the picture because there are many geometrical shapes and lines that
direct you to certain aspects. One of the main eye catching features is the Ferris wheel in the
background. The wheel catches the eye because all of the lines in the middle draw attention to it. The
tents on top of the rides in the back, the fence, and poles/bars on the ride are all very clean cut. Overall
the lines in the work lead your eye all around the composition of the piece. Another element that I
thought this picture has is shape. Shape is significant as well because the lines in the picture form
these figures. For example, the lines that are used on top of the ride tents form triangles, which lead
back to shape. This picture includes many geometrical forms all around the work such as the
rectangular benches, the

Fundamentalist Islam Essay
The key issue in the Middle East, increasingly, has less to do with the Arab Israeli conflict and more to
do with fundamentalist Islam. What is fundamentalist Islam? On the one hand, it manifests itself as a
new religious conviction, reaffirming faith in an awe inspiring God. On the other hand, it appears as a
militant ideology, demanding political action now. One day its spokesmen call for a jihad (sacred war)
against the West, evoking the deepest historic resentments. Another day, its leaders appeal for
reconciliation with the West, emphasizing shared values. Its economic theorists reject capitalist greed
in the name of social justice, yet they rise to the defense of private property. Its moralists pour scorn
on Western consumer culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But if Muslims now return to the original Islam, they can preserve and even restore their power.
That return, to be effective, must be comprehensive. It is not merely a religion, in the Western sense of
a system of belief in God. It possesses an immutable law, revealed by God that deals with every aspect
of life, and it is an ideology, a complete system of belief about the organization of the state and the
world. This law and ideology can only be implemented through the establishment of a truly Islamic
state, under the sovereignty of God. The empowerment of Islam, which is God s plan for mankind, is a
sacred end. It may be pursued by any means that can be rationalized in terms of Islam s own code. At
various times, these have included persuasion, guile, and force.
What is remarkable about fundamentalist Islam is not its diversity. It is the fact that this idea of power
for Islam appeals so effectively across such a wide range of humanity. Fundamentalists everywhere
must act in narrow circumstances of time and place. But they are who they are precisely because their
idea exists above all circumstances. Over nearly a century, this idea has evolved into a coherent
ideology, which demonstrates a striking consistency in content and form across a wide expanse of the
Muslim world. [2]

Logical Appeal Of A Political Cartoon
The political cartoon uses a logical appeal because if many people followed the election, they would
understand that both Hillary and Trump were not ideal candidates. The cartoon illustrates logical and
accurate message that can be backed up by evidence. The cartoon also uses emotional appeal. The
worker in the picture is quoted saying I m Not Happy! , which evokes the feeling of anger and
frustration. I think the cartoonist succeeded in conveying his/her message because when I looked at
the cartoon, I immediately understood the meaning behind it. Overall , the cartoons message
corresponds with how the many people felt about the campaign. The second political cartoon above is

Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker Essay
Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker
Imtiaz Dharker s poem can be read in two ways. A straightforward reading might suggest that the
poem is simply a description of an incident when a pipe bursts and people run excitedly for the water.
A more considered reading, however, would see the poem as being more ominous and disturbing.
Under the apparent good fortune and excitement of the scene are darker ideas about the poverty and
superstition of the people in the poet s native country.
It is the second reading we will be exploring in this revision programme. Either way, the attitude to
water in the poem should make us in the
West wonder at how much we all take for granted, and how too often we squander the earth s
resources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the analysis only offers a mostly positive reading of the poem: That the burst pipe is a stroke
of good fortune.
Quote:
What it tells us:
Effect:
The skin cracks like a pod
That there is very little water, and that the burst pipe is therefore a bit of luck.
The skin could refer metaphorically to the earth. In this case an image of broken drought stricken land
comes to mind.
Imagine the drip of it . . . the voice of a kindly god.
The people are devout and religious, appreciating what s given to them. We are made to see something
we think of as ordinary as something precious. Silver crashes to the ground
The water is precious
The water is seen as being very positive it is like winning the lottery. From the huts,/ a congregation
The people are orderly and religious
They appreciate what God has done for them
Naked children
The society is not embarrassed by nudity
The children are excited, exuberant and are enjoying the water
Highlights polished to perfection
The children have expensive hair cuts
This is an image of brightness and energy
As the blessing sings/ over their small bones
The people are happy and singing. Children are small
They need the water and count it as a blessing.
Frantic hands
They all want the water
They are all excited
Notice how the poem builds from its first two line stanza to the central incident and the commotion.

The War in Iraq Essay
In April of 1920, Allied Nations coming out of World War I met at the San Remo Peace Conference. It
was here that a mandate involving France s desire to hold Syria and Lebanon and Great Britain s
desire to hold the lands of Palestine, Transjordan, and Mesopotamia was born. Britain s holdings were
renamed Iraq, which was created out of the Ottoman provinces of Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra. In
October of 1932, Iraq gained formal independence under Faysal I and through the League of Nations
becoming its own separate country. In the years to follow, the Iraqi Oil industry flourished providing

`` Our Story `` By Susan Griffin
In many places throughout the world there are rigid top down cultures and theories on education.
These cultures have been seen in World War II Germany, in literature, and in education. It has been
shown throughout history that these cultures can and will cause many problems to fester as a result.
These issues include the manufacturing of sheep like masses that simply follow what they are told and
taught, the culture losing its ability to distinguish between what is morally right and wrong, and the
forced masking of emotions and true feelings. The only way to prevent a culture from simply
manufacturing sheep like masses is by encouraging people to not be afraid to stand out in a crowd and
allowing, and even embracing, free thinking.
In Our Story by Susan Griffin there is a complex story involving Heinrich Himmler that she uses to
explain exactly how rigid top down societies and an expectation to be normal can cause a culture to
lose its ability to think critically on a subject. Her first example describes how Himmler grew up in
German in the early 20th century, and how it affected his life and the course of history. In that time the
culture of Germany was of strong patriarchal values and held an expectation of men to be a strong and
masculine image. The problem with this expectation and Himmler is that Himmler did not fit this
image. As a child he was labeled frail and vulnerable, which was not acceptable in German culture at
this time. Because of this he always felt

Essay On I Have The Right To Bear Arms
Within the past half century, gun control has become a heated debate topic between Americans.
The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of
a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is
understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a
cautious manner. This amendment was written under the intentions of protecting Americans from
dangers, both foreign and domestic. After experiencing the tyranny of Britain, Americans wanted to

At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington
D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the
Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and
continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District
of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This
statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in
decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban
in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims
to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these
regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the
overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of
Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control

Ethics of Human Cloning and Genetic Engineering Essay
INTRODUCTION
When the Roslin Institute s first sheep cloning work was announced in March 1996 the papers were
full of speculation about its long term implications. Because of this discovery, the media s attention
has focused mainly on discussion of the possibility, of cloning humans. In doing so, it has missed the
much more immediate impact of this work on how we use animals. It s not certain this would really
lead to flocks of cloned lambs in the fields of rural America, or clinically reproducible cuts of meat on
the supermarket shelves. But it does force us to ask questions about the way we are using animals with

The amount of animals and the amount of milk is very small compared with conventional meat or bulk
milk production. Imagine you are a commercial breeder of cows or hogs, and over many generations
you have bred some fine and valuable animals with highly desirable characteristics. One possible
application of Roslin s work could be to clone such animals from the cells of one of them, and sell the
cloned animals to finishers those farmers who simply feed up the animals for slaughter, rather than
breed them to produce more stock. Again, the breeder might want to clone a series of fast growing,
highly productive animals in a breeding program, in order to test how the same genotype responded to
different environmental changes.
ANALYSIS
Would cloning narrow genetic diversity too far? Before we look at the ethics, there are some practical
problems to consider. One of the fundamental rules of selective breeding is that you must maintain a
high enough level of genetic variation. The more you narrow down the genetic pool to a limited
number, the more you run two risks. One is that you could also have accidentally selected for some
other not so desirable characteristic along with the one you wanted. (Klug, 1996) The selected lines
could have certain disadvantages in some other genetic trait. These would be evened out in normal
genetic diversity of selective breeding, but if animals were cloned, there would be no selection. The
second risk is that

Wound Assessment
Wound characteristics Location of the wound A wound assessment was performed on perineal area of
the patient. It was considered as a chronic wound due to delayed in the healing. Level of Exudate An
extensive amount of seropurulent discharge was present when a dressing was removed. Peri wound
skin The skin around the wound was slightly moist. A slight maceration on the edge of the wound was
also noted with a lightly sloping border. Erythema was also present around the wound. According to
Carville (2012, p 31) erythema occurs with vasolidation of capillaries in the skin as a result of
blushing, temperature changes, thermal injury, an inflammatory response to healing or the presence of
infection . Depth/Wound measurements The wound was measured, where the length was
approximately 8 cm with a width that varies from proximal to distal, 0.5 cm and 0.45 cm, respectively.
Moreover, a depth of the incision was between 4 and 5 cm from the time it was measured without
undermining. Wound odour Skin was not well approximated and there was a presence ... Show more

The wound was initially cleansed with water or normal saline. The principle of aseptic technique was
applied. The soaked gauges was used to clean the surrounding skin. Moreover, when cleaning the
depth of the wound, a circular motion was observed, to allow the removal of suspected biofilms.
According to Carville (2012, p 78), a gentle cleansing technique is used to remove excessive exudates,
whilst a more vigorous approach may be required to remove foreign bodies or suspected biofilms
which retard healing . The wound was lightly dressed with large combines and secure with Transpore.
Due to an identified Staphylococcus infection, intravenous antibiotics were commenced; and at times,
the dressing was changed to mesorb, a super absorbent non adherent dry dressing used to allow
absorption and to contain large amount of

Religious Discrimination In The Kite Runner By Khaled...
In a world where the news is always about corrupting education, poverty and increasing violence,
religious discrimination is the man behind the curtain. As an ancient issue accompanying mankind,
religious discrimination has driven humans to commit many wrongful sins. With differences, come
conflicts. The difference in people s religion has The book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini,
displays the issue of religious discrimination as a main conflict throughout the whole book. Hazaras,
Shi a Muslims are often oppressed by the Pashtuns which are Sunni Muslim. They use the Hazaras as
slaves and later on, even mass murdered them. However, in today s society, religious discrimination is
still not rare among people and it is causing unnecessary harm to the society. To prevent further
damage, religious tolerance must be built as religious discrimination worsen the education condition
for students, brings huge economic loss through conflicts, and takes away countless innocent lives.
That way, people can save their energy and progress as one.
The education condition has been and is being negatively affected by religious discrimination, creating
inequality to students. Although it is unseen and not talked about, religious discrimination is affecting

Alternative to Animal Testing Essay
Alternatives to Animal Testing
Animal testing has become a controversial issue among many people in the world today. Some of
these people involved in this controversial debate believe that animal testing is unethical and should
be replaced by other methods. The other group of people in this debate believe that animal testing is
necessary in order to research new products that cannot be tested on humans. Traditional animal
testing forces animals to undergo numerous experiments for different forms of research. Medical,
cosmetic, and many other types of research experiments use animals to provide the results on how the
new product may affect humans. There are many people that support the use of alternative methods to

Even if the chemical is shown promising for helping the animals it does not automatically mean that it
would be safe for humans.
Using animals for research is not reliable in predicting the outcome of new chemicals on the human
body system. According to American Anti Vivisection Society, Nine out of ten drugs that appear
promising in animals studies go on to fail in human clinical trials. That indicates that almost ninety
percent of traditional animal experiments fail in human trials. Although humans are similar to animals,
they still do not have the exact genetic make up as animals. American Anti Vivisection Society claims
that, Even the same species have similar differences that can be found among different genders,
breeds, ages and weight ranges, and ethnic backgrounds. For example, humans react to new products
differently because nobody is genetically the same. Some people experience the therapeutic effect of a
drug and then others may have an allergic reaction to the drug. Even in the human species researchers
see that not all drugs or products produce the same ideal results that are expected. If there were such
wide variations of results between the same species why would it be logical to test products intended
for human use on animals? This is a question that most advocates for alternative methods to animal
testing would ask.

A novel by Alexander Pushkin adapted for opera by Pytor Tchaikowsky in 1825
Arranged for flute and piano by Guy Braunstein; edited and revised by Emmanuel Pahud in 2009
Performed by Emmanuel Pahud and Fuminori Tanada
As does any opera, Tchaikowky s Russian Opera Eugene Onegin portrays a storyline overrun with
tragedy. Eugene Onegin has inherited his uncle s estate giving him access to acres of hunting ground
on which he meets Lensky, whom he becomes rather good friends with. The friendship does not last
long however, as a vast misunderstanding comes between them. Lensky had recently been engaged to
Olga, a neighbor of Onegin s, and finds himself incredibly joyful and very much in love. Lensky sees
Onegin dancing with his fiancé , and takes Onegin to be attempting to seduce his fiancé, yet this is not
the case. Onegin was only dancing with Olga to be cruel to her younger sister Tatyana who has
recently expressed her love for Onegin. Lensky will not here of Onegin s explanation and challenges
Onegin to a duel. It is in the scene of the duel where Lensky performs his aria. The aria is the last
lyrical piece in the opera at the end of Act 2. The aria is heard by the audience just before the battle
and just before Onegin loses his life.
Lensky s Aria has been performed by many vocalists both on stage and as a solo work accompanied
only by the piano. The lyrics tell of how Lensky wishes he were young again and had only

Pathophysiology Of Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a disorder caused by reoccurring seizures. This occurs because of excessive firing of the
neurons and fast spread of these impulses over the brain. There are two pathophysiology phenomenon
of a seizure: Hyper excitability of a neuron and hyper synchronization (Prayson, Jordan, 2015). Hyper
synchronization is the hyper excitable neuron that leads to increased excitability of a large surrounding
area of neurons. Basically, a large electrical impulse is generated in one part of the brain from this
excessive firing in the neurons. Seizure is defined as an involuntary alteration of behavior with or
without loss of consciousness accompanied by an abnormal electrical discharge in the brain (Offringa,
Moyer, 2011). The key part of

The Age of Enlightenment encouraged writers to break away from conventional thought and express
their ideas and opinions through reasoning. Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights of
Women and Marquis de Sade s Philosophy in the Bedroom examine the conventional norms in their
respective author s contemporary societies. In both accounts, Wollstonecraft and Sade prescribe the
path humanity should take in order to improve the human condition. Marquis de Sade develops an
unconventional philosophy by claiming that cruelty is nature s most basic quality. He supports the idea
that humans are born with the notion of cruelty and thus, should embrace their destructive instincts.

was a virtue since it empowered the mind to think freely and independently. Reason allowed one to

both men and women should be educated for the betterment of society as a whole since both sexes

expected to lead domesticated lives and become dependent on men. They were considered as
housewives, not expected to contribute to society or stand out in anyway. Therefore, women did not
have the same amount of access to a proper education as men did since they were not expected to be
involved with forming their own reasoning and opinions. As a result, women only learned what they
perceived and experienced from the world, left to play guess work rather than make observations and

Fahrenheit 451 Vs Today
Albert Einstein once said, I Fear the Day That Technology Will Surpass Our Human Interaction and
that is exactly what happened in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451. One of the biggest theme shown by
Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451 is the role of technology in the coming future. Fahrenheit 451 is similar to

difference between the 2 societies, Fahrenheit 451 and our present, is that in Fahrenheit 451, the

The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Psychology serves a Role Kids who have been a victim of maltreatment are often times hindered in

in kids an odd and unpleasant feeling. The constant exposure to depressors and bring me downs that

extraordinary stories and even more impressive characters. In Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, we can

The way kids are raised by their parents effects their decision making and their values, beliefs and self
image until the day they die. If a kid grows up figuring things out herself or is neglected etc., that kid
is forced to do what is necessary to develop as fully as possible. Hamama and Arazi describe family
relationships as being crucial in the development of the child. The article specifies that two direct
ways that kids are hurt is through family cohesion and subjective well being. Family cohesion, in this
article, is defined as the connections between family members that each family has, while subjective
well being talks about people s understanding of the life they live and how they react to everyday
situations and how all that effects their emotional and cognitive mind. These two factors have shown
to be directly correlated to children acting aggressively or unpleasant, according to Hamama and
Arazi. Children s aggression behavior includes three parts, according to Hamama and Arazi. 1. A
cognitive dimension hostility;2.an emotional dimension anger; and 3. A behavioral dimension physical
and verbal violence is how they defined aggressive behavior. Those two factors are largely what
influences children and their development, in Hamama and Arazi s eyes(Hamama and Arazi). This
article lays a great foundation for the explanation of Into the Wild. Into the Wild is the non fiction

The Story Makers
Family members can be a person s greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives that
can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their
relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and
stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful memories
that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they do and can
be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek Pincher. The
Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill Sergeant in
the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children s behavior disorder) and has
a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking attention to the manners
of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone s mistakes. When the Sergeant

because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the dinner table, she stares down each

Sensory Registers
Discussion 1 Sensory registers relate to the memory formation in the following ways. By looking
slowly around the room, each glance takes in an enormous amount of visual information, including
colors, shapes, texture, relative brightness, and shadows. At the same time, you pick up sounds,
smells, and other kinds of sensory data. All of this raw information flows from your senses into the
sensory registers, which are like waiting rooms in which information enters and stays for only a short
time. Whether we remember any of the information depends on which operations we perform on it
(Morris Maisto p. 192). Attention is related to the memory formation in the following ways. Attention

Part of the answer has to do with the biology of memory, and another part has to do with the
experiences that we have before and after learning (Morris Maisto p. 209). Focus on it. So many
people get caught up in multi tasking that we often fail to do the one thing that will almost always
improve your memory, paying attention to the task at hand. This is important, because your brain
needs time to encode the information properly. If it never makes it into your memory, you won t be
able to recall it later. If you need to memorize something, quit multitasking (Grohol, J. (2010)).
Smell, touch, taste, hear and see it. The more senses you involve when you need to encode memory,

Empty Nest Syndrome Research Paper
Understanding Empty Nest Syndrome As a 20th century phenomenon the post parental phase of
development, also known as the empty nest period, has been commonly used to describe a specific
phase of the adult life cycle that occurs when children leave home for the first time. Within the past 40
years it has represented a key developmental and unbearable stage in parents lives. For some parents,
often mid life mothers who are the primary caregivers, the end of formal childbearing can be a
traumatic stage of life, during which they are forced to cope with many life transitions. Since
motherhood is considered to be a primary family role, the advent of the empty nest places them in a

Midlife stresses are the result of a combination of personal, familial, social and biological variables, in
which many depressive feelings and reactions are frequently thought to occur in conjunction with the
empty nest period. Some of these variables include depth, breadth and personal meaning of the
maternal role, level of self esteem, and the opinion regarding their children s success or lack their of
(Raup Myers 1989). Consequently, the post parental transition is a normal life occurrence that is
primarily normative of stress. All mothers are potentially vulnerable to the effects of this period.
However, the empty nest period also offers women the reestablishment of marital relationships,
investments in other roles and other life satisfactions. It can be viewed as a time of pleasure, rather
than a time of trauma. The empty nest period, with its entire negative potential, can represent a
positive time of major life change for parents. Henceforth, it is a mother s coping skills and lively
reactions that are of greater significance to the effects of an empty nest. Healthy attitudes allow
mothers to adapt and confidently facilitate the transitional process from active

The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM
Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst
other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within
Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years.
Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it
does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can
be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc.
Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that
informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent.
Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder.
Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a
deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in
Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always
possible.
Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the
Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated
time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times.

The Work Of Louis Pasteur
In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the son of leather tanners provided the clarity needed to
understand the behavior of microbes and applied this understanding to improve people s daily life.
This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his interest,
despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteur in the areas of
chemistry and microbiology provided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of immunology
and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures involved in
medical treatment.
Background
On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As a
child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent for art,
and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for detail in his
later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s footsteps. As time
progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from this point in his life,
Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even though he was the son
of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. Through many strenuous years of
hard work supplemented with encouragement from his father, Pasteur began to study at the French
University. It is here, as Cohn notes, that Pasteur

king do one of two things. Either decrease amount of tax and expenditures or to put more money into

measures to promote economic development in France and to do so urging him to cut down the
amount of money spent on war that is draining the wealth. This memorandum shows the juxtaposition

Differentiation as a Strategy to Reach English Language...
Review of Literature Every student has their own story, set of experiences, and abilities. Overtime,
teachers have quickly realized that they cannot reach all students with a one size fits all approach to
instruction. Therefore, the goal of a differentiated classroom is to maximize growth and individual
success of each student by providing different avenues for the students to learn the content, to process
the information and ideas, and to create a final product. Differentiating instruction needs to be a daily
component of my planning and teaching. Some of students need to be challenged with opportunities to
expand their mind with advanced learning activities. Other students need extra scaffolding and support
in order to understand the basic concepts of the course. Differentiation can be an extremely effective
instruction strategy for teachers as they work to meet the needs of English Language Learners.
Chamot O Malley (1994) explored how differentiation can best be used when instructing ELL s. They
examined direct language instruction, culturally inclusive environments, and differentiation. When
differentiating or modifying instruction teachers it is helpful if teachers activate or build background
knowledge, provide scaffolding, include authentic experiences, and simplify language. Regardless of
the subject area, teachers need to take a unified stance in regards to identifying and working to support
a student s language needs. Establishing a

Thomas Campion depicts the typical description of women in his poem, There is a Garden in Her

lives her life by her own rules and standards. The people in the town notice that except for a funny
shaped finger and that evil birthmark, she was free of any normal signs of vulnerability (115). Again,
the rose symbolized Sula s growth and carefree way of life. However, the stemmed rose is more than
just a mark that changes shades. First of all, the rose represents a part of the whole that has been cut
off from the original bush. Hence, Sula does not fit in with the people from the Bottom, and she
knows that she leads a different way of life. Sula explains that the women of the Bottom will die like a
stump, [while she will go down] like one of those redwoods (143). Everyone of the Bottom is alike

standards, the women of the town believed they were leading better lives because of they did not live
like Sula. In reality, however, the women were denying reality and used Sula to get over their guilt.
Sula feels she is on a different level entirely her own, and she never competed; she simply helped
others to define themselves (95). Society needs her in order to unite against her. Sula cuts herself from

Negative Impact Of World Bank Structural Adjustment Program
NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF WORLD BANK S STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM (SAP)
IN GHANA
INTRODUCTION:
Writing about the negative impacts of The World Bank Structural Adjustment Program in Ghana, my
country of origin is something I can do with my eyes closed, because being an ordinary Ghanaian,
born and raised in Ghana, I do not need a research to know what these institutions have done to the
developing countries they impose their ill intended programs on. Even the blind can feel hunger, lack
of access to good health care, high tariffs on basic utilities such as electricity and water which is as a
result of privatization. This paper is going to highlight on the negative impacts of the World Bank s
sponsored Structural Adjustment Program implemented by the government of Ghana from 1982 to
2008.
STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM 1982 2008
This is what a researcher could say about this program to paint the big picture for readers, Clearly, the
World Bank s structural adjustment of Ghana is a textbook example of how to ruin a country. The
ruthless denial of mineral wealth, food, medical care, education and even water has made the
population destitute spectators to the plunder of Ghana by foreigners. (Ismi. July, 2004).
This program has been repackaged and renamed over the period under different government
administrations but they say a decorated donkey is still an ass. At the beginning under the PNDC/NDC
administration it was called The Structural Adjustment Program which aim was

The First Woman Out Of Three
Ever since Darwin proposed the hypothesis that man and apes have common ancestry, the study of
Primatology has been a main focus in the world of science. Wether or not the scientist were studying
the relationship between ape and human or studying the basic way of life of apes, the study of
Primatology has proven to be controversial and the subject of ridicule to its early pioneering scientists.
In the past century, technology severely limited the study of primatology which means the scientist
had to resort to gorilla tactics to study apes, and go into the jungle themselves. So, scientist like Jane
Goodall, Birute Galdikas, Eugene Dubois, and Raymond Dart endured much ridicule at the time for
their groundbreaking discoveries, but still paved the way for modern day anthropologists. Scientists
current understanding of apes and their relationship to humans would not be the same today had it not
been for the valiant efforts put forth by these firsts few.
Jane Goodall is the first woman out of three, known as the Trimates, to be sent by Louis Leakey, to
study primates in their natural habitat. During her expedition, Goodall studied chimpanzees. She was
the first person in history to ever to record the way chimpanzees act in their natural habitat. She
observed them eating animals they hunted, eating other monkeys, and using tools to acquire more
food. After, announcing her major discoveries Goodall was met with criticism by other researchers
because of her lack of using

Essay on Naturalism and Realism
Beginning in the late 19th century, two separate movements spread across America know as realism
and naturalism. While the two were very similar in their beliefs and ideals there were still many
apparent distinctions to differentiate the two. Realism and naturalism showed themselves in many
aspects of life, from art and sciences to new math techniques and even religion. However, above all
else these movements may have been most evident in the literature of this time. Reading through
American literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it becomes perceptible which short
stories portray realism and which represent nationalism. Mark Twain s humorous tale, The Notorious
Jumping Frog of Calaveras Country, clearly shows Twain s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As Bierce explains, The man who was engaged in being hanged was apparently about thirty five years
of age. He was a civilian, if one might judge from his habit, which was a planter. An attention to
specific details is given especially in Part I when the setting is being described. Countless adjectives
are used, giving the reader the understanding of the scene so that they can feel as if they are sitting in
and watching everything mentioned take place. Again, diction is used although not in the same way as
Twain had used it. Instead, a type of southern slang is used, denoting people from the North as Yanks
and to flax as tow. Finally, the last part of this story is made up on the lead character s daydream
which shows that Bierce was focusing on the psychology of the character, another very realist thing to
do in literature. Stephen Crane s ideas varied from those of Twain and Ambrose as shown in his short
story, The Open Boat. In the story, the crewmates of a diminutive boat are caught in a storm. This is
clearly more depressing than the stories of the other two authors cited but it also sanctions nature to
play a substantial role. In naturalism, nature often acts as a force that humanity cannot control. The
storm represents Crane s belief in

Essay On Prison Reform
In America, crime rates are going up and prisoners are being released from prison with a wrong sense
of direction resulting in their finding themselves back behind bars within a short period of time after
being released for an action that could have been prevented if the proper precautions had been taken.
Prisons need to put forth the effort to resolve these issues and make America s streets secure again.
The criminal justice system in prisons is a rising concern in this country that is affecting many and it is
time it was improved by reforming the inside of prisons, providing prisoners with more when released,
and keeping them under surveillance after release to help ensure they will not return to prison, thus
keeping crime at a lower rate.

Punishments are no longer as cruel, the death penalty has been lifted in multiple states, and prisoners
are being treated in a more equal manner, but the system should continue to be improved even more to
accomplish what needs to be done in order to make the streets safer. Crime has changed from what it
once was in the past. Rates have gone up and people appear to be behaving in a more difficult manner.
The government cannot afford to continue treating prisoners the way they once did in the past. Reform
is not just for the prisoners. Reform is for the people in the communities of America. But there appears
to be a few setbacks when it comes to reform, and one of those setbacks is cost. Though according to
Gary C. Mohr, Criminal justice systems can be people oriented, evidence based and cost effective
while remaining focused on the safety and well being of those living in the different communities.
Therefore, cost should not be an excuse as to why the system cannot be reformed, especially when it
comes to public safety. In fact, there should be no excuses when it comes to public safety. Prisons

Elite Polarization And Economic Inequality
Downward Spiral of Elite Polarization and Economic Inequality
Our nation has been continuously plagued with both an increase in elite polarization as well as an
increase in economic inequality. The reason that they are so strongly correlated to each other is
because economic inequality is leading to elite polarization and then elite polarization allows no laws
to be passed leading to greater economic inequality. So the question being posed is, why has there
been an increasing correlation between elite polarization and economic inequality in the past four
decades and what steps do we need to reverse this trend? Leading off, I will show how the connection
between economic inequality and elite polarization became an issue in the United States, then I will
divulge into how to potentially fix the downward spiral of the issue, and finally I will refute why there
is correlation between polarization and inequality even though some say that there is not.
The relationship between the two has become known by all citizens, not only those that heavily
involved in politics: The extent of political polarization, as measured by the average difference
between the parties, is positively correlated with the extent of inequality. (Bonica, McCarty, Poole,
and Rosenthal 2013). Research shows that there is a strong correlation between the two issues, by why
is that? It is thought that the two are caught in a vicious downhill cycle creating even more separation
as time goes on. Research proves

The Factors Of The French Resistance In World War II
The French Resistance The French Resistance was a collection of resistance groups that fought against
Nazi Germany and its puppet state of Vichy France. They were mainly comprised of men and women
who fought the Nazis through sabotage, ambushes, and hit and run tactics; disrupting power grids,
transport lines, and telecommunications. In addition to guerilla warfare, they also published
underground newspapers, collected intelligence, and helped Allied soldiers trapped behind enemy
lines to escape. Furthermore, they also played a large role in Operation Overlord (invasion of northern
France) and Operation Dragoon (invasion of southern France) by providing the Allies with locations
of Nazi fortifications and defenses. The French Resistance was extremely crucial to winning World
War II and saving the lives of Allied soldiers.
The surrender of France to the Nazis in June of 1940 was a major blow to French nationalism. Many
believed the government had let the people down by fleeing Paris and through the creation of Vichy
France, a French puppet government supported by the Nazis. The assurance by the French government
that the Maginot Line was more than strong enough to resist a Nazi attack was of course, proved false.
The Maginot Line also had a glaring weakness: there were very little fortifications bordering Belgium.
France did not want to offend its ally, so the Maginot Line stopped at the Ardennes Forest, which was
considered impenetrable. However, the Nazis bombed French

Racial supremacy is the belief that race is responsible for the differences in human character and that a specific race is superior to others. This belief alone is bad, however, paired with anti miscegenation which is a law from McBride s time period that prohibits interracial relations or marriage, it has a synergistic effect which can be seen throughout his experiences growing up as a black Jewish boy with a white mother. Aquinas thinks laws come from the conclusions made from basic human knowledge knowing right and wrong. These proposed changes have included 1915 and 1115 waivers, including long term care programs. Florida has an uninsured rate of 20 percent (Rose, 2015). This represents a great need for insurance coverage expansion and cost savings in Florida. Previous proposed changes have been successful in some aspects, but do not answer all of these elements. Many forms of 1915 and 1115 waivers have been proposed and implemented in Florida and other states in the past. According to Holahan, Coughlin, Lipson, Rajan (1995), the section 1115 research and demonstration waivers are designed to allow states to develop new solutions to health and welfare problems. The federal government may waive some standard Medicaid rules if the change is deemed to be budgetary, no higher than it would have been expected without the waiver (Holahan et al., 1995). States using these waivers have proposed to save money by using managed care plans for current Medicaid patients, and limiting the cost of new Medicaid enrollees (Holahan et al., 1995). These proposals often focus on using hospital DSH payments to expand coverage rather than using these sums to make payments to hospitals, using savings from reductions in other programs, or proposing new revenues (Holahan et al., 1995). I chose a piece that stuck out to me and reminded me of the carnivals and fairs I went to growing up in my hometown with family. Choosing just one piece to write about was a difficult decision, but I chose to write about Carrousels by Don Jacot. This piece was created with oil on linen in 1992 and is 50x72 . I believe the subject matter of this piece has to do with childhood and memories. I noticed in this piece that there were not many people on the rides or around the picture at all. This interested me, so I decided to look at other artworks he has created and most of the others are empty as well. I feel this has something to do with him having an empty childhood, but still has the memories of him going out. He also tends to lean more towards using the brighter primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow. I figured he chose these because a child would be more fascinated in something bright and colorful instead of dull and plain. One of the formal elements that stood out to me the most was color. I chose this because color is such a big aspect in this piece of work. Blue, red, and yellow are the most used in this work and are brightly intensified. The vibrant colors caught my eye right away when I saw the picture. The second formal element that is shown in this picture is line. I feel this element goes with the picture because there are many geometrical shapes and lines that direct you to certain aspects. One of the main eye catching features is the Ferris wheel in the background. The wheel catches the eye because all of the lines in the middle draw attention to it. The tents on top of the rides in the back, the fence, and poles/bars on the ride are all very clean cut. Overall the lines in the work lead your eye all around the composition of the piece. Another element that I thought this picture has is shape. Shape is significant as well because the lines in the picture form these figures. For example, the lines that are used on top of the ride tents form triangles, which lead back to shape. What is fundamentalist Islam? On the one hand, it manifests itself as a new religious conviction, reaffirming faith in an awe inspiring God. On the other hand, it appears as a militant ideology, demanding political action now. One day its spokesmen call for a jihad (sacred war) against the West, evoking the deepest historic resentments. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But if Muslims now return to the original Islam, they can preserve and even restore their power. That return, to be effective, must be comprehensive. It is not merely a religion, in the Western sense of a system of belief in God. It possesses an immutable law, revealed by God that deals with every aspect of life, and it is an ideology, a complete system of belief about the organization of the state and the world. This law and ideology can only be implemented through the establishment of a truly Islamic state, under the sovereignty of God. The empowerment of Islam, which is God s plan for mankind, is a sacred end. It may be pursued by any means that can be rationalized in terms of Islam s own code. At various times, these have included persuasion, guile, and force. What is remarkable about fundamentalist Islam is not its diversity. It is the fact that this idea of power for Islam appeals so effectively across such a wide range of humanity. Fundamentalists everywhere must act in narrow circumstances of time and place. But they are who they are precisely because their idea exists above all circumstances. Over nearly a century, this idea has evolved into a coherent ideology, which demonstrates a striking consistency in content and form across a wide expanse of the Muslim world. • 16. Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker Essay Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker Imtiaz Dharker s poem can be read in two ways. A straightforward reading might suggest that the poem is simply a description of an incident when a pipe bursts and people run excitedly for the water. A more considered reading, however, would see the poem as being more ominous and disturbing. Under the apparent good fortune and excitement of the scene are darker ideas about the poverty and superstition of the people in the poet s native country. It is the second reading we will be exploring in this revision programme. Either way, the attitude to water in the poem should make us in the West wonder at how much we all take for granted, and how too often we squander the earth s resources. ... In this case an image of broken drought stricken land comes to mind. Imagine the drip of it . . . the voice of a kindly god. The people are devout and religious, appreciating what s given to them. It was here that a mandate involving France s desire to hold Syria and Lebanon and Great Britain s desire to hold the lands of Palestine, Transjordan, and Mesopotamia was born. Britain s holdings were renamed Iraq, which was created out of the Ottoman provinces of Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra. In October of 1932, Iraq gained formal independence under Faysal I and through the League of Nations becoming its own separate country. • 19. `` Our Story `` By Susan Griffin In many places throughout the world there are rigid top down cultures and theories on education. These cultures have been seen in World War II Germany, in literature, and in education. It has been shown throughout history that these cultures can and will cause many problems to fester as a result. These issues include the manufacturing of sheep like masses that simply follow what they are told and taught, the culture losing its ability to distinguish between what is morally right and wrong, and the forced masking of emotions and true feelings. The only way to prevent a culture from simply manufacturing sheep like masses is by encouraging people to not be afraid to stand out in a crowd and allowing, and even embracing, free thinking. In Our Story by Susan Griffin there is a complex story involving Heinrich Himmler that she uses to explain exactly how rigid top down societies and an expectation to be normal can cause a culture to lose its ability to think critically on a subject. Her first example describes how Himmler grew up in German in the early 20th century, and how it affected his life and the course of history. In that time the culture of Germany was of strong patriarchal values and held an expectation of men to be a strong and masculine image. The problem with this expectation and Himmler is that Himmler did not fit this image. As a child he was labeled frail and vulnerable, which was not acceptable in German culture at this time. Because of this he always felt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a cautious manner. At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control ... • 23. Ethics of Human Cloning and Genetic Engineering Essay INTRODUCTION When the Roslin Institute s first sheep cloning work was announced in March 1996 the papers were full of speculation about its long term implications. Because of this discovery, the media s attention has focused mainly on discussion of the possibility, of cloning humans. In doing so, it has missed the much more immediate impact of this work on how we use animals. It s not certain this would really lead to flocks of cloned lambs in the fields of rural America, or clinically reproducible cuts of meat on the supermarket shelves. But it does force us to ask questions about the way we are using animals with new technology, and the kinds of assumptions we make. To create Dolly (the cloned sheep), Scottish researchers simply took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of animals and the amount of milk is very small compared with conventional meat or bulk milk production. Imagine you are a commercial breeder of cows or hogs, and over many generations you have bred some fine and valuable animals with highly desirable characteristics. One possible application of Roslin s work could be to clone such animals from the cells of one of them, and sell the cloned animals to finishers those farmers who simply feed up the animals for slaughter, rather than breed them to produce more stock. Again, the breeder might want to clone a series of fast growing, highly productive animals in a breeding program, in order to test how the same genotype responded to different environmental changes. ANALYSIS Would cloning narrow genetic diversity too far? Before we look at the ethics, there are some practical problems to consider. One of the fundamental rules of selective breeding is that you must maintain a high enough level of genetic variation. The more you narrow down the genetic pool to a limited number, the more you run two risks. One is that you could also have accidentally selected for some other not so desirable characteristic along with the one you wanted. (Klug, 1996) The selected lines could have certain disadvantages in some other genetic trait. These would be evened out in normal genetic diversity of selective breeding, but if animals were cloned, there would be no selection. The second risk is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Empty Nest Syndrome Research Paper Understanding Empty Nest Syndrome As a 20th century phenomenon the post parental phase of development, also known as the empty nest period, has been commonly used to describe a specific phase of the adult life cycle that occurs when children leave home for the first time. Within the past 40 years it has represented a key developmental and unbearable stage in parents lives. For some parents, often mid life mothers who are the primary caregivers, the end of formal childbearing can be a traumatic stage of life, during which they are forced to cope with many life transitions. Since motherhood is considered to be a primary family role, the advent of the empty nest places them in a transitional period, at risk for another mysterious occurrence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Midlife stresses are the result of a combination of personal, familial, social and biological variables, in which many depressive feelings and reactions are frequently thought to occur in conjunction with the empty nest period. Some of these variables include depth, breadth and personal meaning of the maternal role, level of self esteem, and the opinion regarding their children s success or lack their of (Raup Myers 1989). Consequently, the post parental transition is a normal life occurrence that is primarily normative of stress. All mothers are potentially vulnerable to the effects of this period. However, the empty nest period also offers women the reestablishment of marital relationships, investments in other roles and other life satisfactions. It can be viewed as a time of pleasure, rather than a time of trauma. The empty nest period, with its entire negative potential, can represent a positive time of major life change for parents. Henceforth, it is a mother s coping skills and lively reactions that are of greater significance to the effects of an empty nest. • 38. The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years. Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc. Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder. Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always possible. Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times. • 39. The Work Of Louis Pasteur In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the son of leather tanners provided the clarity needed to understand the behavior of microbes and applied this understanding to improve people s daily life. This man, Louis Pasteur, succeeded in his medical investigations and continued to pursue his interest, despite objections given to him by his peers. The timeless work of Louis Pasteur in the areas of chemistry and microbiology provided the necessary foundation for the scientific study of immunology and stressed the importance of possessing a thorough understanding of the procedures involved in medical treatment. Background On December 27, 1822, Louis Pasteur was born to a family of leather tanners (Lamont, Cohn). As a child, Pasteur showed no scientific potential whatsoever (Cohn). However, he did have a talent for art, and it is possible that this particular interest could have influenced his appreciation for detail in his later years (Lamont). Many of his teachers suggested that he follow in his father s footsteps. As time progressed, Pasteur developed an interest in the field of science. Starting from this point in his life, Pasteur demonstrated the characteristic of rising above his expectations. Even though he was the son of a leather tanner, Pasteur did not give up and live a simple life. Through many strenuous years of hard work supplemented with encouragement from his father, Pasteur began to study at the French University. It is here, as Cohn notes, that Pasteur ... First examining the past nine year to see that even though taxes were lowered he claims revenues have increased due to improved collection strategies(page,92). Colbert tells the king that he feels that the current ratio of taxation to the amount of money in circulation is too high. Therefore, he suggests the king do one of two things. Either decrease amount of tax and expenditures or to put more money into circulation in the realm. Colbert s goal in the memorandum was to incite the king to introduce measures to promote economic development in France and to do so urging him to cut down the amount of money spent on war that is draining the wealth. This memorandum shows the juxtaposition of having a king in power who believed in extending his glory through warfare and later on the palace of Versailles. Therefore, much of Colbert s suggestions were never implemented or he was even unable to achieve what he hoped they did. To further exasperate this tension between Colbert and the king who had opposing views on economic policy their was a major flaw in the king s taxation policies that were not uniform throughout France. Revealing the absolutism of the king s policy on taxation was one were on any given year all he had to do was declare in council how much he would tax for that year. • 41. Differentiation as a Strategy to Reach English Language... Review of Literature Every student has their own story, set of experiences, and abilities. Overtime, teachers have quickly realized that they cannot reach all students with a one size fits all approach to instruction. Therefore, the goal of a differentiated classroom is to maximize growth and individual success of each student by providing different avenues for the students to learn the content, to process the information and ideas, and to create a final product. Differentiating instruction needs to be a daily component of my planning and teaching. Some of students need to be challenged with opportunities to expand their mind with advanced learning activities. Other students need extra scaffolding and support in order to understand the basic concepts of the course. Differentiation can be an extremely effective instruction strategy for teachers as they work to meet the needs of English Language Learners. Chamot O Malley (1994) explored how differentiation can best be used when instructing ELL s. They examined direct language instruction, culturally inclusive environments, and differentiation. When differentiating or modifying instruction teachers it is helpful if teachers activate or build background knowledge, provide scaffolding, include authentic experiences, and simplify language. Regardless of the subject area, teachers need to take a unified stance in regards to identifying and working to support a student s language needs. Establishing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Toni Morrison s Sula The Character of Sula as a Rose nbsp; Authors developed the canon in order to set a standard of literature that most people needed to have read or to have been familiar with. The works included in the canon used words such as beautiful, lovely, fair, and innocent to describe women. The canonical works also used conventional symbols to compare the women to flowers such as the rose and the lily. Thomas Campion depicts the typical description of women in his poem, There is a Garden in Her Face. The people in the town notice that except for a funny shaped finger and that evil birthmark, she was free of any normal signs of vulnerability (115). Again, the rose symbolized Sula s growth and carefree way of life. However, the stemmed rose is more than just a mark that changes shades. First of all, the rose represents a part of the whole that has been cut off from the original bush. Hence, Sula does not fit in with the people from the Bottom, and she knows that she leads a different way of life. Sula explains that the women of the Bottom will die like a stump, [while she will go down] like one of those redwoods (143). Everyone of the Bottom is alike and united in their hatred and fear of Sula. Because Sula is promiscuous and improper by the Bottom s standards, the women of the town believed they were leading better lives because of they did not live like Sula. In reality, however, the women were denying reality and used Sula to get over their guilt. Sula feels she is on a different level entirely her own, and she never competed; she simply helped others to define themselves (95). Society needs her in order to unite against her. Negative Impact Of World Bank Structural Adjustment Program NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF WORLD BANK S STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM (SAP) IN GHANA INTRODUCTION: Writing about the negative impacts of The World Bank Structural Adjustment Program in Ghana, my country of origin is something I can do with my eyes closed, because being an ordinary Ghanaian, born and raised in Ghana, I do not need a research to know what these institutions have done to the developing countries they impose their ill intended programs on. Even the blind can feel hunger, lack of access to good health care, high tariffs on basic utilities such as electricity and water which is as a result of privatization. This paper is going to highlight on the negative impacts of the World Bank s sponsored Structural Adjustment Program implemented by the government of Ghana from 1982 to 2008. STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM 1982 2008 This is what a researcher could say about this program to paint the big picture for readers, Clearly, the World Bank s structural adjustment of Ghana is a textbook example of how to ruin a country. The ruthless denial of mineral wealth, food, medical care, education and even water has made the population destitute spectators to the plunder of Ghana by foreigners. (Ismi. July, 2004). • 47. The First Woman Out Of Three Ever since Darwin proposed the hypothesis that man and apes have common ancestry, the study of Primatology has been a main focus in the world of science. Wether or not the scientist were studying the relationship between ape and human or studying the basic way of life of apes, the study of Primatology has proven to be controversial and the subject of ridicule to its early pioneering scientists. In the past century, technology severely limited the study of primatology which means the scientist had to resort to gorilla tactics to study apes, and go into the jungle themselves. So, scientist like Jane Goodall, Birute Galdikas, Eugene Dubois, and Raymond Dart endured much ridicule at the time for their groundbreaking discoveries, but still paved the way for modern day anthropologists. Scientists current understanding of apes and their relationship to humans would not be the same today had it not been for the valiant efforts put forth by these firsts few. Jane Goodall is the first woman out of three, known as the Trimates, to be sent by Louis Leakey, to study primates in their natural habitat. During her expedition, Goodall studied chimpanzees. She was the first person in history to ever to record the way chimpanzees act in their natural habitat. She observed them eating animals they hunted, eating other monkeys, and using tools to acquire more food. • 48. Essay on Naturalism and Realism Beginning in the late 19th century, two separate movements spread across America know as realism and naturalism. While the two were very similar in their beliefs and ideals there were still many apparent distinctions to differentiate the two. Realism and naturalism showed themselves in many aspects of life, from art and sciences to new math techniques and even religion. However, above all else these movements may have been most evident in the literature of this time. Reading through American literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it becomes perceptible which short stories portray realism and which represent nationalism. As Bierce explains, The man who was engaged in being hanged was apparently about thirty five years of age. He was a civilian, if one might judge from his habit, which was a planter. An attention to specific details is given especially in Part I when the setting is being described. Countless adjectives are used, giving the reader the understanding of the scene so that they can feel as if they are sitting in and watching everything mentioned take place. Again, diction is used although not in the same way as Twain had used it. Instead, a type of southern slang is used, denoting people from the North as Yanks and to flax as tow. Finally, the last part of this story is made up on the lead character s daydream which shows that Bierce was focusing on the psychology of the character, another very realist thing to do in literature. Stephen Crane s ideas varied from those of Twain and Ambrose as shown in his short story, The Open Boat. In the story, the crewmates of a diminutive boat are caught in a storm. This is clearly more depressing than the stories of the other two authors cited but it also sanctions nature to play a substantial role. In naturalism, nature often acts as a force that humanity cannot control. The storm represents Crane s belief in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prisons need to put forth the effort to resolve these issues and make America s streets secure again. The criminal justice system in prisons is a rising concern in this country that is affecting many and it is time it was improved by reforming the inside of prisons, providing prisoners with more when released, and keeping them under surveillance after release to help ensure they will not return to prison, thus keeping crime at a lower rate. The government cannot afford to continue treating prisoners the way they once did in the past. Reform is not just for the prisoners. Reform is for the people in the communities of America. But there appears to be a few setbacks when it comes to reform, and one of those setbacks is cost. Though according to Gary C. • 50. Elite Polarization And Economic Inequality Downward Spiral of Elite Polarization and Economic Inequality Our nation has been continuously plagued with both an increase in elite polarization as well as an increase in economic inequality. The reason that they are so strongly correlated to each other is because economic inequality is leading to elite polarization and then elite polarization allows no laws to be passed leading to greater economic inequality. So the question being posed is, why has there been an increasing correlation between elite polarization and economic inequality in the past four decades and what steps do we need to reverse this trend? Leading off, I will show how the connection between economic inequality and elite polarization became an issue in the United States, then I will divulge into how to potentially fix the downward spiral of the issue, and finally I will refute why there is correlation between polarization and inequality even though some say that there is not. The relationship between the two has become known by all citizens, not only those that heavily involved in politics: The extent of political polarization, as measured by the average difference between the parties, is positively correlated with the extent of inequality. (Bonica, McCarty, Poole, and Rosenthal 2013). Research shows that there is a strong correlation between the two issues, by why is that? • 51. The Factors Of The French Resistance In World War II The French Resistance The French Resistance was a collection of resistance groups that fought against Nazi Germany and its puppet state of Vichy France. They were mainly comprised of men and women who fought the Nazis through sabotage, ambushes, and hit and run tactics; disrupting power grids, transport lines, and telecommunications. In addition to guerilla warfare, they also published underground newspapers, collected intelligence, and helped Allied soldiers trapped behind enemy lines to escape. Furthermore, they also played a large role in Operation Overlord (invasion of northern France) and Operation Dragoon (invasion of southern France) by providing the Allies with locations of Nazi fortifications and defenses. The French Resistance was extremely crucial to winning World War II and saving the lives of Allied soldiers. The surrender of France to the Nazis in June of 1940 was a major blow to French nationalism. Many believed the government had let the people down by fleeing Paris and through the creation of Vichy France, a French puppet government supported by the Nazis. The assurance by the French government that the Maginot Line was more than strong enough to resist a Nazi attack was of course, proved false. The Maginot Line also had a glaring weakness: there were very little fortifications bordering Belgium.
