 When Jeff Sutherland created
the scrum process in 1993, he borrowed the
term "scrum" from an analogy put forth in a
1986 study by Takeuchi and Nonaka,
published in the Harvard Business Review. In
that study, Takeuchi and Nonaka compare
high-performing, cross-functional teams to
the scrum formation used by Rugby teams.

 The Agile methodology employs incremental
and iterative work beats that are also called
sprints. Scrum, on the other hand is the type
of agile approach that is used in software
development. Agile and Scrum are terms used
in project management

 Scrum has not been immune to controversy, and
its history of invention is a topic of frequent
debate. Some professionals believe that Jeff
Sutherland, John Scumniotales, and Jeff
McKenna invented Scrum in 1993. And then there
are others who vouch for Hirotaka Takeuchi and
Ikujiro Nonaka as inventing Scrum in 1986.
 In 2001, much inspired by Kent Beck, Ken
Schwaber co-authored the first book on Scrum
with Mike Beedle, Agile Software Development
with Scrum. In 2002, Ken Schwaber founded the
Scrum Alliance with Mike Cohn and Esther Derby,
with Ken chairing the organization.

 Dr. Jeff Sutherland is one of the inventors of
the Scrum software development process.
Together with Ken Schwaber, he created
Scrum as a formal process at OOPSLA'95.
Sutherland helped to write the Agile
Manifesto in 2001. He is the writer of
The Scrum Guide.

 Events are used in Scrum to create regularity and to
minimize the need for meetings not defined in
Scrum. All events are time-boxed. Once a Sprint
begins, its duration is fixed and cannot be shortened
or lengthened. The remaining events may end
whenever the purpose of the event is achieved,
ensuring an appropriate amount of time is spent
without allowing waste in the process. The Scrum
Events are:
 Sprint
 Sprint Planning
 Daily Scrum
 Sprint Review
 Sprint Retrospective

sure a Scrum team lives by the values and
practices of Scrum. ... This involves removing
any impediments to progress, facilitating
meetings, and doing things like working with
the product owner to make sure the product
