As politics over dengue outbreak grows, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has jumped
into the fray to do some firefighting. He has put all AAP MLAs on the ground to deal
with the problem and written letters to Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and
Leader of the Opposition Vijender Gupta of BJP asking them to unite with the
government to deal with the crisis.
The state has been under fire from BJP and Congress over the rapid spread of
dengue.
“At this point, it's incumbent upon us to rise above politics and serve the people.
Through this letter I want to invite you and your party members to assist us in our
anti-dengue efforts. Whenever you have time, come to my office so that we can sit
together and chalk out a strategy to fight dengue,“ Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal has asked all Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs to keep checking their
constituencies on availability of medicines, testing kits and cleanliness in hospitals.

In a meeting called by Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia at his Civil Lines residence,
the chief minister directed the 21 MLAs attached to the managing committee of hospitals to visit
the institutions daily and keep checking for vacant spaces where additional patients could be
accommodated.
The chief minister briefed the MLAs on the dos and don'ts of dengue. They were also asked to deal
with the fear of dengue that has gripped people after cases mounted to over 2,000 and death toll
reached 17.
“We have been asked to visit JJ clusters to search for dengue patients and ensure their proper
treatment. People are currently living under fear psychosis, so we have raise awareness about the
disease and ask them to consume more water. We have also been asked to ensure proper fogging is
done in the area,“ said an MLA who attended the meet.
AAP had on Thursday announced that it would press into action private practitioners to deal with
the dengue problem and open free clinics across the city . Party volunteers have been asked to visit
households to raise awareness.
In case the volunteers find a dengue patient, they will report it to the local malaria inspector and
ensure fogging in the area.
