Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn have become very popular but also come with some disadvantages. They can be addictive and cause users to spend hours online rather than focusing on work, school, or real-world socializing. This overuse of social media can negatively impact users' mental and physical health, concentration and motivation, and communication skills. Cyberbullying is also a risk, and the excessive use of social media by youth replaces time that could be spent on other activities. While social networks can help people connect, they require responsible use to avoid harmful effects.

College and university students as well as teens use it extensively to get global access. These social networking sites have become a raging craze for everyone nowadays. Social-networking sites prove more of a distraction than a useful tool. The EMOTIONAL EFFECT of friend requests and unimportant news feeds on sites like Facebook eat up valuable time that could be spent solidifying contacts in person. unfortunately in using social networking/ media we have forgotten all preventive measures. because we have addicted them, so disadvantages ratio is increasing rapidly compared to advantages.

ADDICTION • . The most common disadvantage of social networking sites is addiction. Often users of these sites get addicted to it. They spend hours using these sites and it harms their performance in other fields. It causes mental health problems and sometimes it harms their body too. Sometimes users provide their personal

• Multitasking • Students linked to activities on SNS while studying concentrate less. • Time wastage • Students while searching on net get attracted to social media sites and get distracted from their work , leading to time wastage.

• Loss of motivation in students • The student’s motivational level reduces due to the use of these social networking sites. They rely on the virtual environment instead of gaining practical knowledge from the real world. • Reduced learning and research capabilities • Students have started relying more on the information accessible easily on these social networking sites and the web. This reduces their learning and research

• Effect on health • The excessive use of these sites affect the mental as well as physical health. • They take excessive amount of coffee or tea to remain active and focused which effects negatively on their health. • Reduction in real human contact • The more time the students spend on social media sites, the less time they will spend socializing in person with others. This reduces their communication skills. The employers are getting more and more unsatisfied with the communication skills of the fresh graduates due to this reason. The effective communication skills are key to success in the real world.

CONCLUSION • We can see clearly that social networking sites are advantageous only if they are used wisely. Using these sites would be helpful, if users do not spend time there unnecessarily. Wise members never provide personal information to strangers. Use of a tool depends on users. A doctor can operate with a knife and a murderer can kill a person with the same knife.
