Mass media can reach a wide audience and is a primary means of communication. It includes print media like newspapers and books, as well as electronic media like radio, TV, and the internet. Mass media benefits education by giving all students an equal chance to learn regardless of attributes, and allowing distribution of information over long distances. While it can be misused, mass media is generally a useful tool for grading schools, showing their successes, and praising high-performing students. E-books are digital publications that can be read on computers and devices. They have advantages like low updating costs, multimedia capabilities, and searchability. However, they also have disadvantages like not being as convenient to read as print and risking piracy.

MASS MEDIA Mass media means technology that is intended to reach a mass audience. It is the primary means of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. TYPES OF MASS MEDIA • Print media : News papers, books, magazines and other printed materials. • Electronic media : Radio, television, internet, cinema,etc.
MASS MEDIA IN EDUCATION 1. Regardless of gender, race, age, geographic location or any disability mass media gives an equal chance for all to progress in the field of education. 2. Distribute over distances to reach the student wherever he happens to be, instead of bringing him to the teacher. 3. Give the student an opportunity to reach the material and respond in many ways.
ADVANTAGES • The mass media is a great tool in grading and inspecting schools and universities. • It is also useful in showing success in schools and universities, by praising those who get the best results out of their students. • DISADVANTAGES • It is sometimes harmful for people. They spend too much time playing games online, watching irrelevant programmes etc..
DEFENITION OF E-BOOKS An electronic book (also e-book) is a text- and image-based publication in digital form produced on, published by, and readable on computers or other digital devices.
ADVANTAGES OF E-TEXTBOOKS 1. Low update : To update the e-book, simply edits the electronic document, saves, and then informs customers about the new release. 2. Multimedia format : e-books can contain not only text and images, but also audio and even video. 3. Searchable : Search button allows you to quickly jump to the page containing the word you're interested in. 4. No shipping cost. Since we're dealing with electronic files, you can simply download them from the web.
DISADVANTAGES OF E-TEXTBOOKS 1. Not convenient to read : Sitting for prolonged periods of time can cause muscle strain, backache. 2. Printing cost : If your e-book is quite long, the printing cost will be shouldered by your readers. 3. Piracy :With e-books, your file can be easily emailed to someone living thousands of miles away. It can even be placed in a public server for anyone to download.
E-TEXTBOOKS IN CLASSROOM 1. Never out of stock and no waiting on shipping. 2. Environmentally friendly : Schools will not have to constantly buy new physical copies of textbooks as curriculum changes. 3. Storage space is reduced : Tablets can hold hundreds of textbooks on one device, this eliminates the need for physical storage of books. 4. They come with font flexibility making reading easier.
5. No trees are required to manufacture paper for the pages of e-books. 6. E-books are portable : We can carry a whole library of hundreds of books, without worrying about their weight. 7. E-books can be interactive and contain audio, video and animations, which can enhance the message that the author is trying to convey. 8. E-books are searchable : We can easily search for any information in an e-book, instead of turning pages after page.
