Analysis Of Quotes From Young Men By David Zusak
Quote #1: A snowball in the face is surely the perfect beginning to a lasting friendship. (Zusak 48)
This quote demonstrates the use of irony by the author. Getting hit in the face with a snowball isn t
exactly the most pleasant thing. The author describes this unpleasant thing as the start of something
wonderful: a lasting friendship. Quote #2: I ve seen so many young men over the years who think they
re running at other young men. They re not. They re running at me. (Zusak 174) The quote
demonstrates the slight ignorance of the young men that are indicated in the quote. They are unaware
that in running at other men, they are also running towards death. Quote #3: Imagine smiling after a
slap in the face. Then, think of doing

A Live Action Documentary Of The History And Its Impact On...
The film contains two narratives, a live action documentary of the history of textile mills in the United
States and a cartoon drama about people dealing with the struggles typical in the early years of this
industry. Although they are interwoven with each other in the film, these narratives will be
summarized separately in this essay for the sake of clarity, first the documentary section, and second,
the cartoon, but reflected upon as a unit to better focus on the impact of the film as a whole. The
documentary section details the evolution of technology in the era and its impact on society, beginning
with a description of what things were like in the United States prior to the appearance of mills, noting
that everything had to be done manually. In New England, the creation of clothing typically involved
shearing sheep for their wool, followed by cleaning and carding the wool, making it into slivers,
spinning the slivers into thread, and weaving the thread into cloth, and sewing the pieces of cloth
together into clothing. Tools such as the loom and spinning wheel aided in the process, but they had to
be operated manually. Water wheels had previously been used to power the grinding of grain.
Eventually, in Europe, they also came to be used to power machines that handled carding, then
machines called water frames that spun multiple slivers at once, thus drastically increasing the
production of yarn. Spinning mills were established, generating numerous jobs. Although, in the

Eperanza In Mango Street
Rafaela is another neighbor of Esperanza s. On Tuesdays, Rafaela s husband goes out to play poker
and locks her in their apartment because afraid that she will run away since she is so beautiful. She
waits alone all day, leaning outside a window, listening to the music from the bar across the street, and
wishing she could dance while she is still young. Rafaela is similar to Esperanza s grandmother in the
sense that neither lived the lives they truly wanted. Instead, they were staring out the window in
dismay. Both women were in restrictive marriages that suppressed them from being themselves as
well as their intelligence and creativity. Esperanza is not like the other girls on Mango Street. She

make a wish, and then tell her that it will come true. One of the sisters pulls Esperanza aside and tells
her after she leaves Mango Street, she must remember to go back for those who cannot leave as easily.
She has guessed Esperanza s wish, both amazing her and making her feel guilty for wishing something
so selfish. The woman then tells her, You will always be Esperanza. You will always be Mango Street.
You can t erase what you know. You can t forget who you are. Even though Esperanza hates Mango

Diagnostic And Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders (...
Definitions
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) defines substance abuse as addiction.
Addiction is defined by abuse and dependence. Abuse is use that impairs an individual person s ability
to function. Dependence is physical withdraw, and centering one s life around obtaining and using the
substance (Kaye and David, 2014). Like a lot of populations those individuals who suffer from
substance abuse have terms they are referred to that are offensive to them and their disease. Terms like
addict, abuser, and junkie are seen as demeaning to them because it labels the individual by their
disease. Preferred terms would be a person in active addiction, a person with a substance issue
disorder, or a person experiencing an alcohol/drug problem. Habit or drug habit denies the medical
nature of the condition instead individuals with substance issues prefer substance misuse disorder,
active addiction, and alcohol and drug disease ( National Alliance , 2008). There are no holidays that
are specific to people with substance issues however in Alcohol Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics
Anonymous (NA) there are chips given to individuals who remain substance free. The chips are given
out after 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months after that it is by year.

The Paradox Of Gladiators
Often seen as working class heroes, Roman Gladiators have become an icon to the it is nearly
impossible to think of the Roman Empire without the association of
Gladiators were a paradox within Roman society. They were viewed both as the superstars of their day
, but also ranked in the lowest tier of Roman society (Baker, 2000, pg.3). This unique relationship of
being held in contempt while also being adorned made the relationship of gladiators to Roman society
very interesting because it influenced why people might participate in the games. Although the
majority of gladiators were slaves, some were volunteers, women and political figures. Slaves were a
part of the gladiator games because they didn t have much say. Their owners there was a general

This was done in grades of gladiator training called Palus . The highest attainable grade for a gladiator
was Prime Palus . At this point, the gladiator was not only a huge asset to the ludus, but also viewed as
teacher who could pass along wisdom to other gladiators.
The paradox of gladiators continues within the school because they live in prison like conditions and
are still viewed as slaves, but because they had the potential to earn large profits for their masters they
were well taken care of in many areas. They usually received three meals a day, and the best gladiators
were also privy to treats. After examining bones from gladiator graveyards, evidence suggest
Gladiators ate a largely vegetarian diet. Hollywood movies often misinterpret gladiators as travelers.
Gladiators didn t travel from city to city for combat, they usually just fought in the cities they lived in.
Another misconception is that the gladiators fought as a team because that is depicted in movies. Each
man or woman was on their own unless they were specifically participating in a style of fighting
where there was more than one

Loan Of Student Loan Consolidation
Student Loan Consolidation May Be The Response To Your Financial obligation Concern
With this, the loans stay overdue for 270 days or end up being 270 days past due at any time, leading
the loans to default condition.
Federal student loans are more beneficial compared to personal student loans. The interests on federal
loans are tax deductible and on certain kinds of service, the student loan might be forgiven. In
consolidating your student financial obligation, it is suggested not to blend the federal and personal
loans together. Be sure to consolidate every one of your federal student loans.
Student loan consolidation might be the response to your heavy financial obligation problem and the
lots of problems that have needing to make numerous loan payments monthly.
Although aware of such truth, lots of customers still fall to the trap of strolling away from student loan
financial obligation which then results to series of repercussions. With this, the loans stay overdue for
270 days or end up being 270 days past due at any time, leading the loans to default condition.
Student loan consolidation should be a reliable option to prevent default and the inconveniences that
influence your credit and monetary future for several years.

Premises Liability Case
Trip and fall or slip and fall cases are also referred to a premises liability. A claim such as this
generally arises due to a defect in the property s floor that causes an individual to trip or slip and fall.
The act of tripping or slipping on someone s property does not automatically trigger liability. The fact
that the defect exists is irrelevant unless evidence establishes that the property owner was aware of the
defect and neglected to fix it. The question in an Illinois liability claim is notice. Because notice is the
most important issue in a premises liability case, the definition of notice is difficult to define;
however, there are standards that the court has set to assist lawyers and their claimants to determine
whether a premises liability case exits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a defect is not obvious or only appears under certain conditions obtaining adequate
pictures for evidence may be challenging. No previous complaints or prior inspections of the property
also make establishing defects difficult. In situations such as this, the attorney will conduct an
investigation to determine whether or not the property owner should have been aware of the defect
responsible for causing the slip and fall. Defining Notice Notice refers to what a property owner
knows or should have known at the time of the incident. One of the classic notice situations involves a
property owner knowing about a defect, but neglects to fix it. Evidence must be presented showing the
number of times an owner was informed of the defect and ignored it. Exceptions to Premises Liability
Claims The Illinois courts have ruled that water tracked into a property by visitors on a rainy day is a
natural occurrence; therefore, a property owner is not considered liable in the event of a slip and fall.
In addition, a property owner is not liable if a slip and fall is caused by other natural occurrences, for
example ice and

The Epidemic Of Obesity And The United States
Kole Dugger

6 February 2014
The Epidemic of Obesity In the beginning, it was just a few grains of sand. Now, those grains have
seemed to triple in amount. The 1960 s were great, as many might recall. New rock bands from other
countries were jamming out making number one hits on the billboards. Times were actually changing
in more than just that one way though. Hiding behind the curtains, an epidemic, was about to break
out. Unlike many epidemics, this one only pertained to the United States. The United States of
America is very unique in many ways compared to most other countries of the world. Ranging from
activities and the way they live, to the way its government is ran and how different the means of

It was designed for quick service, yet having great food to eat. That right there, will come back years
later to haunt Americans. With a small menu of only 9 items, there was one food item that stuck out
like a sore thumb when it came to the sales charts. That item would be the delicious fifteen cent
hamburger. By 1958, McDonalds sold 100 million hamburgers. Over the years, they opened many
more restaurants. Not only were they selling, they were expanding. Business was booming, so they
had no choice rather than to expand their services. In the very next year, they had opened their 100th
McDonalds restaurant. All this was in just four years, if time could tell how quickly things change, lets
skip ahead another three years. The year 1962 truly marked an era of how Americans are today. Lazy
and arrogant! A Denver, Colorado McDonalds introduced indoor seating for their McDonalds
restaurant. This seems like everyday dining for most of everybody reading this. With just one food
chain opening up, surely it could not be the only cause of obesity rates in the United States. Please
remember, McDonalds is not the only fast food chain around. They inspired others along with their
success. Burger King, Checkers, Hardees, Wendys and Sub Way are just a few example of fast food
chains that have began to dominate the food industry. Americans live in a wonderland of food, and
they take advantage of it! With many varieties of fast food chains

When Cybersecurity Policy Is Discussed The Topics Often
When cybersecurity policy is discussed the topics often focus on technology, corporate culture, and
security awareness. The success of an organization in defending its most valuable asset, data, depends
on the proper implementation of several security practices. Ensuring that the human aspect of cyber
security is addressed is vital, for the culture of an organization can greatly impact both the security
posture and defense of information networks.
This paper addresses the human aspects responsible for SCADA System vulnerabilities and provides a
holistic solution to ensure a solid defense. Then we will explore Zero day exploits and how they are
employed as both military and economic tools. Next the topic of bringing your own device ... Show

The NIST, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), establish performance
goals that should be met to enhance cybersecurity (The White House, 2013). Because compliance is
voluntary, the standards set by the NIST came from industry best practices to appease private
operators and ensure that the cybersecurity of the nation s critical infrastructure was improved through
compliance. SCADA Systems are pervasive throughout our nation s critical infrastructures which
govern many aspects of the population s daily life. Travel, the movement of goods, essential utilities
and basic life sustainment necessities are all dependent on properly functioning SCADA Systems.
Executive order 13636 ensures that SCADA systems are integrated with and function in conjunction
with other devices that report real time health of operations. Should these systems be compromised,
national security would be placed at risk. An example of vulnerable infrastructure are Very Small
Aperture Terminals (VSATs) which are used for remote transmission of credit card transactions, and
the transfer of data from SCADA systems to government classified systems (Storm, 2015). If these
VSATs are compromised, they provide

The Importance Of Andrew Jackson And The Common Man
Imagine if we didn t win the War of 1812 or if the common people felt unwanted? Where would we be
without Andrew Jackson? Andrew Jackson s presidency should be admired because he supported the
common man and thought the rich were overrated, he also a well known war hero. This topic is
relevant because Andrew Jackson made it so the people were treated as equals, and how different
groups shouldn t be treated better just because of their money status. It also is relevant because our
country wouldn t have double without the War of 182 or our success during the Revolutionary.
Andrew Jackson wasn t born into the richest family, in fact he lived out most of his life an orphan.
President Jackson always thought that the rich were over privileged or didn t deserve what they were
given. Andrew Jackson wanted to make sure the common people felt just as equal as the rich. Jackson
also was a well renowned war hero for his victory during the War of 1812 which gave the United
States the ability to double in size or it wouldn t have given us the social status that was
desired.Because Andrew Jackson was a common man himself, how did he put towards that part of his
life into his acts as president?
Andrew Jackson wasn t just a president, he was also a common man. Jackson was most famous
because he believed in the common man, and that s what he fought for and how he wanted to model
the country. The common man started as almost the lowest of the system until Jackson helped them

The Rise Of Pollution Levels
There I was in Shanghai, China, staring at the sun as if I were trying to look at a lamp behind a
curtain. The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even cared
about the environment before. The People s Republic of China is now the largest emitter of CO2 in the
world. But of course, this a global phenomenon: a global phenomenon that in no way started with
China as Alanna Mitchell would agree to. By the end of the 19th century, the powerful duo that was
industrialization and imperialism spread industrial growth from Great Britain to Southeast Asia. From
the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s, China has been
incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know, modern
manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of international
pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. But sustainable development needs
to start not just with China, but with all major players in the global economy. Mitchell s statement, the
idea that the planet s future might come down to China s choices is hard for the West to fathom (102)
is not only ironic, but a dangerous idea to accept. An historical context of China s industrialization and
urbanization will show you that Western interests in China led to its massive carbon emission. Further,
the root of the problem must be solved the way it started, with help from the West.

Cyber Stalking
Cyber Stalking Defined
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately one in four stalking victims reported
some form of cyber stalking such as e mail (83%) or instant messaging (35%) and nearly three in four
stalking victims knew their offender in some capacity (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2012). Cyber
stalking has many classifications, most include the use of threats and stalking via email, social media,
or texting. Cyber stalking defined is the repeated used of electronic communication to stalk or harass
someone. Cyber stalking can have many faces and can involve more than one person, ultimately
cyberstalking is still a misconduct that often goes unnoticed in the social media realm.

Intimate Cyber stalkers primary objective was to launch a relationship with an intentional target that

Speech On Mass Shootings
I have been a student at the Thomas County School System ever since I started pre school. I have
loved every minute of it. I have learned and had great experiences here but over the last four years of
my high school experience, I have noticed that there have been more and more scares of bombings
and shootings. Even though we do have a safe school and take precautions, there is still room for
error, I am proposing that we make the school a safer place for kids to learn by installing bulletproof
glass and each class having a door stopper. Most history about this subject really only goes back 70
years ago. Before that, no one knew what mass shooting were. These events were not committed
during these times. This subject is a relatively new concept that is mainly found in the U.S. In a recent
study, it shows that we are the leading country for mass shootings (Willingham). Following our
country is the Philippines, with a difference of 72 (Willingham). But it does not stop there, these
events are counting with new mass shootings like the Las Vegas Shooting, which is now the largest
one in our country s history with over 50 deaths and over 500 injuries (Yan, et. al.). Even though these
shootings are not near Thomasville. They are everywhere. They could easily strike in our town and no
one would be able to plan. Most of these events are mainly located in California, Florida, and Illinois,

Presidential vs. Parliamentary Political Systems Essay
Presidential vs. Parliamentary Political Systems
There are two main types of political systems, one being a presidential system and the other being a
parliamentary system. Both of them have their own benefits as well as their own disadvantages. No
political system can be perfect or can always have stability, but shown in history there are successful
countries that use either one. Also there are countries that have failed with one of the two systems.
Firstly there is the presidential system. There are many characteristics to a presidential system. The
first main part of a presidential system is how the executive is elected. The executive is a president
who is elected to a fixed term. Also a president is not only head of ... Show more content on

The monarch is a figure head and does no decision making. The voters of a parliamentary system elect
parliament who then elect the prime minister and the cabinet. The prime minister is normally the
leader of the most popular party in parliament. The PM even being the head of government is not as
powerful as the head of government in a presidential system. The parliament of the system withholds
the most power. They make or break any law. Compared to the separation of powers as in a
presidential system there is only a separation of functions. Each part of government has its own
function to perform, but there is no system of checks and balances. An example of the overlapping of
powers is the need of a vote of confidence. A vote of confidence is proposed by a party and needs
backing from the other part of government. With no system of sorts there is more likely of upheaval
and change of rule. There is not as much stability in a parliamentary system as there is in a
presidential. Lastly there is no judicial rule as there is in a presidential system. A parliamentary system
has had success in the past but still is seen as not as successful as a presidential system.
Most European countries have a parliamentary political system. Britain has a parliamentary system.
Britain s system starts at the voters who vote for Parliament. Parliament then elects and can oust the
executive branch, which is headed by a prime

Back then, the all mighty gods removed salt from ocean waters whenever humans needed to use it. In

Pros And Cons Of Case Studies
1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of
performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study
design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple
sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need
to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations.
In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case
studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean
that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients
are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of
disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if
you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to
stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if
the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a
different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and
management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that

Argumentative Essay On The Second World War
The Second World War As stated by Albert Einstein, As long as there are sovereign nations possessing
great power, war is inevitable. A German dictator s political manipulations before the Second World
War began secured him absolute power. The invasion of Poland during the war, and the formation of
the United Nations after the war. World War II was essential for the historical events that occurred in
that time. Even before the war started, pain and suffering were already widespread. Adolf Hitler s rise
to power was a monumental moment in history. According to the book, The Life and Death of Adolf
Hitler, Hitler rose to power as the result of sordid intrigues, gifts of money to wealthy industrialists,
and because soldiers of Germany terrorized the population (Giblin 231). Years after Hitler secured
power, the Nuremburg Laws were set in place and this is iconic because this is how the Nazis
discriminated the Jewish people. According to the Holocaust Symposium, The Nuremberg Laws
excluded the Jewish from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from having sexual relations with
German people (Glied 3). This discrimination escalated during Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken
Glass, which was the largest pre war hate attack on the Jewish. During Kristallnacht, synagogues,
Jewish homes, and Jewish businesses were attacked and plundered by the violent anti Jewish pogroms
throughout areas occupied by German troops (Glied 4). These variables are what will eventually start
World War II. John Steinbeck once said, All war is a symptom of man s failure as a thinking animal.
The invasion of Poland is momentous because this action marked the start of World War II. According
to History.com: Germans invade Poland, Germany invaded Poland because Hitler thought the
conquest of Poland would bring lebensraum, meaning living space, for the German people (History,
par. 1). A few years after the start of the Second World War, The Final Solution was implemented and
it was an imperative event since it is what lead to the Jewish people being killed by the Nazis. The
Final Solution involved the Jewish people being systematically murdered in killing centers through
mass deportation (Glied 6). On June 6, 1944, D Day occurred and it was

Mr. Smith And His Burglary Charges
I still mostly agree with my initial post on Mr. Smith and his burglary charges, but I challenge my idea
that justice is not served because he only pleaded guilty to two counts. Since the evidence is
circumstantial and the defendant has no prior record, the plea deal does serve justice. Just because you
believe a person to be guilty of X amount of crimes does not mean he is guilty. If the evidence is
shaky and the defendant is clean, justice is determined through what is presented. I also noted in the
initial post that the defendant could have burglarized more homes, but not caught. This is a stretch and
should never come into the decision process, unless evidence can be provided. With regards to Mr.
Smith, he might seem to be getting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, he is high figure in the organization, but there are many other ways of going after the mob bosses
without giving Jimmy immunity. Couldn t Jimmy be used to gain more information from the mob
bosses? For example, offer him a less severe sentence, but make him wear a wire or some sort. He
might have information to give, but make it earn it. Murdering someone should not give you a free
pass. Feedback to the Mr. Smith case: I still come back to the idea of the circumstantial evince and
that the prosecution should try the case in court or offer him a better plea for the victims. Yes,
resources are better used if the case is pleaded out, but I still believe you cannot over look how many
homes he burglarized. I believe a pattern has evolved and he could be more dangerous than perceived.
I would agree that if Mr. Smith had something to offer, the plea deal for guilty on two counts could be
fine. It all comes down to how many homes he burglarized. Twenty is a lot and shows more than I
believe is being taken into account. To Jimmy and the mob bosses, I agree with the statement that the

Emotional Neglect And Abuse From My Past
By the time I am 21 I will be able to move past my emotional neglect and abuse from my past. I never
dealt with earlier in my childhood by finding a technique that can help me deal with my past trauma,
so now I am serving my consequence in my early adult life. Lately I ve been feeling angry and can t
find the reason why some people say it is because I never dealt with my past and now it is catching up
to me. My goal is to find techniques and heal myself by the time I reach 21 because at 21 I will no
longer be in state s care and get the assistance I need to move forward with my life. I will be covering
my personal experience with this from the beginning as a young child to where I am at now in the life
and other things I see myself struggling with on a day to day basis. The purpose of me writing about I
tired of feeling the way I do and I need to find a way to handle it.
Because their emotions were not validated as children, they may have difficulty knowing and trusting
their own emotions as adults. Jonice Webb said this October 12, 2012. Trust plays a big role in anyone
s life so if a child can t trust their own feelings and emotions as a child how would you expect them to
trust and understand their feelings and emotions as adults when they have experienced neglect and
abuse that and not love and care.
It s time to get some reparenting to compensate for the parenting you never had. As an adult you can
take charge of your life and make your future better than your past.

Bronchiolitis Case Study
1. Urticaria, unspecified (ICD 10 L50.9) Drug reactions are a major health concern. These reactions
usually occur on the skin. Most reactions occur as maculopapular or urticarial. Some reactions can
also cause eosinophilia. The rash usually appears on the trunk and will expand to the extremities.
These reactions can be caused by antihistamines, antibiotics, digoxin, steroid hormones, and
acetaminophen (Hoetzenecker et al., 2016). S/S rash that started on the trunk and abdomen, now on

Do not give OTC cough medications. The FDA does not recommend giving cough medications under

Is Hamlet Angry With His Father s Father
From Uncle to Stepfather From Mother to Auntie
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, the main character is angry and expressed his anger
through the medium of allusion. An allusion refers to a mythological person, place, or thing. Many
things around the city of Denmark are changing for the worse. Hamlet is angry with his mother
because he fills betrayed that she would merry another man after two months of his father s death. The
allusion Hamlet expresses those feeling is when he said, With which she followed my poor father s
body, / Like Niobe, all tears. Why she ever she (1.2.148 149). Hamlet is comparing his mother to
Niobe. Niobe is a woman who turned into a stone and weeps for her fourteen children, which Hamlet s
mother only cries for his father for only two months. Hamlet s expression of his mother shows the
reader that she is a gold digger and was not truly in love otherwise she would have grief longer.
Furthermore, these lines can only mean that he was the only person who truly care and loved the ex
king of Denmark. Meanwhile the others had already forgotten about him. All in all, Hamlet though
that maybe his mother would be more impacted by the death of the King, but instead traded him up for
his Uncle. Moreover, Hamlet was in denial that his Uncle was going to be the king and his new father.
For him, the only true king was his father and no more. As he said, So excellent a king, that was to his

Music Is An Important Part Of Life
Music will always be an important part of life. Music can help soothe people, think better, get people

been given the chance to go out and listen to live music outside of our normal range. For my concert
report, I went to see a band called Unity The Band. They were pretty good. The genre they played was
reggae. My experience started with my reactions, the style of it, and the things I liked most about the

t have real instruments playing them. To experience music like this was a privilege. Lastly, my
experience was based on the things I liked or enjoyed about the band. There were multiple things that
I liked about it starting with the solos. I think the best solo was from the electric bass player. I had
never seen a bass player play a solo, but it was really good. It was a fast solo so he had to be a great
guitarist to play it that fast. Then, of course, the lead guitar solos, piano, drummer, and my friend s
solos. This type of music is something you can have fun with. The musicians can have fun, but the
audience can also have fun and groove out listening to it. Another thing I liked was how friendly the
band is. After the band performed, they were happy to officially meet my friend and everyone else at
our table. Although I didn t remember each of their names, I did search the band online. One of the

A. S. Byatt s The Pink Ribbon
A. S. Byatt s story The Pink Ribbon is a story about change in a marriage as a result of a traumatic
experience, as well as how the struggle between duty and love manifests themselves. In this story, a
man doing what he thinks is his duty becomes overwhelmed with feelings of anger, fear, and
resentment after his transition from spouse to caretaker. Through seemingly imagined encounters with
a beautiful young woman, this man is reminded of his wife and what it is like to have meaningful
contact with another person that is not consumed by taking care of someone else, which causes him to
make a choice in the name of mercy, both for himself and his wife. Byatt shows the changes in James
and Madeleine s relationship through the use of diction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James believed the doll Dipsy was equivalent to Mado, so the use of the word suffocating suggests
that he thought Mado was suffocating or trapped and the only way to help her was to give her release
through death, although it also could be hinting at the method he was going to use. Byatt wrote that
every time James went outside he took huge gulping breaths, which suggests that James felt trapped
himself and might have thought that if Mado were no longer around he would be able to breathe again.
James visits from the fetch (234) ,Dido, also foreshadow Mado s death. A fetch in folklore is an omen
of death. Since Dido reminded him of his wife and what their relationship used to be like, it makes
sense that Mado s death was forthcoming. The last instance of foreshadowing is in the final paragraph
of the story, ...the Teletubbies were sitting on the end of the casket shaped cradles,... (236), which,
again, goes back to the symbol of the Teletubbies doll. The idea of the Teletubbies going to beds that
were shaped like coffins proposes a parallel to where Mado was going to spend her last moments,
which is emphasized by James telling Mado to Come to bed,...Just a rest, for a while, (236). So, are
duty and love really different things? Merriam Webster defines duty as something that is done as part
of a job; something that must be done because it is morally right, and love as a feeling of strong or
constant affection for a person. James sense

Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church is the second oldest church located 1307 14th Street SW in Downtown Westside
in Calgary, Canada. It is founded in 1910. There are two main complexes in this architecture, the older
complex that is constructed in 1910 and an additional edition in 1930. Throughout the years, the
Sacred Heart Church has constantly been adding additional architectural structures and expanding its
size. Both complexes in the Sacred Heart Church are rectangular in plan. They both are red brick
structure with dull green tiled roof. The roof does not cantilever over the structure hence the shadeless
entrance, sides, corridors and gardens. The newer structure is larger in size, with the longer axis
perpendicular to 14th street, whereas the second complex s longer axis is parallel to it. Even though
the two complexes are placed adjacent and perpendicularly to one another, it does not create a typical
Catholic transept plan as it is not a symmetrical cross. The short rectangular structure is offset towards
the main entrance of the church as supposed to the back end. There is approximately 8 stories tall
tower located in the longer structure, towards to the back end of the plan. It has a square base with the
top section extruding upwards to a singular point, forming a pinnacle. The main entrance is accessible
from the 14th street and is at the front façade of the larger complex. Upon entry, visitors will be lead to
the longest path within the church, the nave. Visitor can also

Change. No one wants to accept it; no one wants to live with it. Why is it? Is it because we lack the
willingness to change ourselves or is it because we don t want it? None of it, it is mainly because we
fear change. But the fact is we can t stop it from happening. We either adapt to change, or we get left
behind. But here s the fun fact: Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And
sometimes, change is excellent. Sometimes, change is everything we want. Its funny how things
appear the same every passing day but when we look back, many things have changed! To perform a
Greek drama we need three things; they are audience, performers and something to perform. I must
exclaim that it is the same with modern theatre. All the three elements are required today also. So does
it means nothing has changed in past twenty five hundred years? I don t think so. From presentation of
a particular subject to the elitism in the drama, everything has changed over period of time.
I choose to write about the transformation in status of women from Greek drama to Victorian Era
because it is a form of triumph. Along with progress in field of science and technology, the inevitable
revolution in the field of literature shouldn t be disregarded. In Prometheus Bound, the character of Io

The Issue Of Canadian Fisheries

Natural resource economics is greatly concerned with solving a phenomenon referred to as the
Tragedy of the Commons , also known as a situation that results in the overuse of open access
resources by independent agents, looking to retrieve as many resources as possible without giving
regard to other users of the common property. This essay focuses on the issue of Canadian fisheries as
a common example of the issue and a topic subject to much academic research.

Specifically, two main categories of common property source regulation price and quantity regulation.
The goal is to explain what properties of a resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economists efforts to create a regulatory infrastructure have led to certain key policy assumptions.
The first step towards determining the effects of the fishing industry is to calculate the amount of
fishing capacity per season, based upon anticipated prices, costs, biomass level, and the regulations set
by the regulatory agency (Homans Wilen, 1997, p. 3). The government assumes a regulatory stance in
light of environmental goals, anticipating an amount of fishing activity, which is acceptable. The
combination of the government and the industry should theoretically result in an equilibrium between
the companies and the regulatory sector. Their main task is to characterize an equilibrium between the
fishing industry and the regulatory infrastructure so that various situations related to fishing are taken
into account. The cycle of biomass growth between seasons is dependent on the corresponding
harvest, biological growth, environmental effects and the predetermined quota. Ultimately, it is
assumed a full steady state can be reached. The goal of quantity regulation is to achieve a steady state
of biomass in the long run, given constant industry and regulatory behaviour (Homans Wilen, 1997, p.
9). PRICE REGULATION
Using economic incentives to conserve fisheries must occur under a regulatory framework that is
enforceable. Price regulation as a result of taxes leaves many

Sympathy In The Phantom Of The Opera
The first thing that comes to someone s mind when they think about a phantom or a ghost, usually
does not involve a real human or the word sympathy. In the novel, The Phantom of the Opera by
Gaston Leroux, this actually is the case. A deformed human, who lives deep under the opera and is
stuck in a love triangle, causes problems for the people of the opera. The real definition of sympathy
is: feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else s misfortune (123). Which does not apply to the
Phantom because ultimately he is not a sympathetic character. He had a bad past and he doesn t care
about others which leads him to kill and torture people for no apparent reason. The Opera Ghost isn t
just unsympathetic while he lives in the Opera, but he was also unsympathetic as a child and younger
adult. Back when he was in Mazenderan working for the Little Sultana, he murders many people: He
had lived in India and acquired and incredible skill in the art of strangulation. He would make them
lock him into a courtyard to which they brought a warrior usually, a man condemned to death armed
with a long pike and a broad sword. Erik had only his lasso... Erik tightened the noose round his
adversary s neck and, in this fashion, dragged him before the little sultana and her women, who sat
looking from a window and applauding (Leroux 140). Yes, all the men that he kills have already been
condemned to death, but he mercilessly kills them without knowing their story or feeling any sorrow
or pity for the person he is about to kill. This shows that the Opera Ghost, Erik, is a very
unsympathetic character in the novel. Children learn from their parents and as they get older they tend
to do a lot of the same things, in the same way, that their parents do. ... My mother, daroga, my poor,
unhappy mother would never ... let me kiss her ... she used to run away ... and throw me my mask!
(167). His mother never felt sorry for him, and she never had any sympathy for him. He might have
learned from her that you don t have to feel bad for people, or possibly he just thought that his
situation is the worst and no one has it has bad as he does; so why should he take his time to feel bad
for them? The fact that he has a torture chamber in his

Introduction
The Smartphone market is emerging and growing. This is a well known fact. However, this report
primarily focuses upon what goes on behind the scenes in producing a Smartphone that is at par with
the customers needs. The Smartphone market moved from producing sets with an alphanumeric
keyboard to a qwerty keyboard, to a touch screen, to intelligent voice commands, to biometric
securities, etc. Nevertheless, the diversity in needs of the consumer, increasing demand levels, the
Smartphone industry hasn t ceased to grow.
The conventional product strategies which used to focus upon costs, differentiation, and customer and
technology orientations doesn t seem to fulfill the ever growing need of better technology. The
Smartphone market is more focused on innovation and product development rather than the

Peter Stockman And A Villain
What is the difference between the hero in a story and the villain? The hero is supposed to do the good
and the villain is supposed to be against it. When it comes down to saving the day or ruining it, there
always has to be a strategic plan that tackles all the odds. If there isn t a realistic plan to accomplish a
goal then there might be risks and consequences in the process of trying to achieve the objective.
Although Peter Stockmann is not as charismatic a leader as his younger brother Tom, Ibsen seems to
support the mayor s view of how organization and political systems must work to control the
population and prevent chaos. He is much more effective and strategic in dealing with the press and in
conducting public meetings.

Stockman and his brother had some kind of rivalry. When Dr. Stockmann got feedback about his
investigation, he was eager to show off the news at the administration for not listening to him. He
thought the town was going to praise him for the discovery and think of him as a hero for saving the
town. He was not mindful of keeping quiet until he had all his fact right. Dr. Stockmann affirmed, Of
course I warned them. When they started the damn thing I told them not to build it down there! But
who am I, a mere scientist, to tell politicians where to build a health institute! Well, now they re going
to get it, both barrels! Dr. Stockmann couldn t wait to tell the people, so they could see how successful
of a scientist he was. He basically felt like rubbing his discovery on all the politicians faces for not
listening to him. He was blinded by all the praises he thought he was going to get and thought
everything would be so easy to do. Mr. Kiil claimed You admit there s some doubt in your mind about
the water, you admit there may be ways to disinfect it, and yet you went after your brother as though
these doubts didn t exist (Act III). Ibsen reveals that there might be other reasons for Mr. Stockmann
to act this way. Ibsen reveals some kind of rivalry of superiority between these two brothers. Tom did
try to negotiate asking his brother to not say something about the spring and they ll work on it later on.

The Pros And Cons Of Allied Health
According to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, Allied Health professionals
partake in the delivery of health care related services (What is Allied Health?, 2018). Allied health
professions are typically acquired in a relatively short amount of time through an accredited school.
Education can take anywhere from 8 weeks to 8 years, depending on what allied health profession is
being completed. Minorities typically seek allied health professions that can be completed in as short
as 8 weeks but not longer than 2 year. This choice is typically economical for minorities, however, the
question remains as to whether job security outweighs the low income an allied health position often

There are many ways to provide incentives for employees. They do not necessarily need to be a
financial incentive. There could be programs developed on a national scale to provide free education
for high school seniors to be able to complete a certificate program as part of their high school
education. The requirements can be a GPA of 3.5 or above and a letter of recommendation from their
guidance counselor. Another type of incentive can be to have a job secured once they complete their
education. Sign on bonuses always yield great outcomes.
Professional growth is most certainly important to individuals in any allied health profession. Often,
the limitation on the level of education required for an entry level allied health profession can hinder
professional growth. Tuition reimbursement is a great way to promote continuing education that
would lead to professional growth (Buchbinder Shanks, 2016). On the job training is also another way
to promote professional growth. Providing in house training sessions, mentorship programs or

When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded the program.

What the Stamp Act Really Meant Essay
The central thesis of my paper is the Stamp Act and how it was brought about and what it meant to the
American Colonies. As well as why it was necessary. February 6th, 1765 George Grenville came forth
in Parliament to propose his Stamp Bill. Not knowing that it would forever be a significant part of
history. The Act was a tax on every piece of printed paper the colony used. Including, legal
documents, licenses, and even playing cards. The tax also had to be paid with British currency.
Colonial paper money was not valid. This made it more difficult for the colonists to even pay the tax.

Except this method had never worked before and Great Britain had already had success with the
Stamp Act method in Great Britain. So it made more sense to them to impose the Stamp Act. However
it did not make much sense to the colonists because they argued that their rights as Englishmen were
being taken away because they were being taxed without representation. Benjamin Franklin said it
best when he said That it is suppos d an undoubted Right of Englishmen not to be taxed but by their

Act as soon as it was passed. He wrote seven resolutions for the Stamp Act all of which were very

Julius Caesar Thesis
Gaius Julius Caesar, a man of honor, born on 13 July 100 BCE, is currently on the look to be our next
supreme ruler of the Roman Republic. He has been offered the crown three times to become our
Republic s new emperor after his astounding victory at the Battle of Munda. Even though most
prestigious generals would gladly accept the offer to rule this civilized republic, he did not. Not only is
Julius Caesar a great general, but he has also claimed descent from Ascanius, King of Alba Longa; son
of Trojan Prince Aeneas; son of Prince Anchises and goddess Venus. Julius Caesar, as he is most
commonly known, had a moderately tough childhood just like any other civilian out there. When he
was just sixteen years old, his father, Gaius Julius Caesar(Sr.), ... Show more content on

His first marriage was with Cornelia Cinna minor, daughter of Lucius Cornelius Cinna, Roman consul
that has served four terms under the political party known as the Populares. Caesar was ordered to
divorce Cornelia immediately by Lucius Cornelius Sulla, who was, at the time, Roman consul. Caesar
denied to divorce her and proceeded with his regular life. Cornelia was also Julia Caesaris mother.
Julia is the only biological and undisputed heir of Julius Caesar. After Cornelia died in the year 69
BCE, Caesar instantaneously remarried to Pompeia, daughter of Quintus Pompeius Rufus. Caesar later
divorced Pompeia because of rumors going around that are not known. After this, Caesar married
Calpurnia, daughter of Lucius Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus.Caesar and Calpurnia are still married to
this day. Enough about Julius Caesar s personal life; now let s talk about Julius Caesar s rise to being
offered the crown. In 73 BCE he was elected into the Pontifex, or the College of Pontiffs. Then, in 72
BCE he was elected into the military tribune, where he gained a lot of fame and recognition. He
obtained a seat in the senate around the same time he married Pompeia. In the year 63 BCE, when he
was only 37 years old, he was elected as the Pontifex Maximus. The Pontifex Maximus as most of you
are aware is the highest and most prestigious title when it comes to Roman polytheism.

The film contains two narratives, a live action documentary of the history of textile mills in the United States and a cartoon drama about people dealing with the struggles typical in the early years of this industry. Although they are interwoven with each other in the film, these narratives will be summarized separately in this essay for the sake of clarity, first the documentary section, and second, the cartoon, but reflected upon as a unit to better focus on the impact of the film as a whole. The documentary section details the evolution of technology in the era and its impact on society, beginning with a description of what things were like in the United States prior to the appearance of mills, noting that everything had to be done manually. In New England, the creation of clothing typically involved shearing sheep for their wool, followed by cleaning and carding the wool, making it into slivers, spinning the slivers into thread, and weaving the thread into cloth, and sewing the pieces of cloth together into clothing. Tools such as the loom and spinning wheel aided in the process, but they had to be operated manually. Water wheels had previously been used to power the grinding of grain. Eventually, in Europe, they also came to be used to power machines that handled carding, then machines called water frames that spun multiple slivers at once, thus drastically increasing the production of yarn. Spinning mills were established, generating numerous jobs. Although, in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even cared about the environment before. The People s Republic of China is now the largest emitter of CO2 in the world. But of course, this a global phenomenon: a global phenomenon that in no way started with China as Alanna Mitchell would agree to. By the end of the 19th century, the powerful duo that was industrialization and imperialism spread industrial growth from Great Britain to Southeast Asia. From the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s, China has been incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know, modern manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of international pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. • 18. Pros And Cons Of Case Studies 1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations. In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that ... • 19. Argumentative Essay On The Second World War The Second World War As stated by Albert Einstein, As long as there are sovereign nations possessing great power, war is inevitable. A German dictator s political manipulations before the Second World War began secured him absolute power. The invasion of Poland during the war, and the formation of the United Nations after the war. World War II was essential for the historical events that occurred in that time. Even before the war started, pain and suffering were already widespread. Adolf Hitler s rise to power was a monumental moment in history. According to the book, The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler, Hitler rose to power as the result of sordid intrigues, gifts of money to wealthy industrialists, and because soldiers of Germany terrorized the population (Giblin 231). Years after Hitler secured power, the Nuremburg Laws were set in place and this is iconic because this is how the Nazis discriminated the Jewish people. According to the Holocaust Symposium, The Nuremberg Laws excluded the Jewish from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from having sexual relations with German people (Glied 3). This discrimination escalated during Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which was the largest pre war hate attack on the Jewish. During Kristallnacht, synagogues, Jewish homes, and Jewish businesses were attacked and plundered by the violent anti Jewish pogroms throughout areas occupied by German troops (Glied 4). • 20. Mr. Smith And His Burglary Charges I still mostly agree with my initial post on Mr. Smith and his burglary charges, but I challenge my idea that justice is not served because he only pleaded guilty to two counts. Since the evidence is circumstantial and the defendant has no prior record, the plea deal does serve justice. Just because you believe a person to be guilty of X amount of crimes does not mean he is guilty. If the evidence is shaky and the defendant is clean, justice is determined through what is presented. I also noted in the initial post that the defendant could have burglarized more homes, but not caught. This is a stretch and should never come into the decision process, unless evidence can be provided. With regards to Mr. Smith, he might seem to be getting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes, he is high figure in the organization, but there are many other ways of going after the mob bosses without giving Jimmy immunity. Couldn t Jimmy be used to gain more information from the mob bosses? For example, offer him a less severe sentence, but make him wear a wire or some sort. He might have information to give, but make it earn it. Murdering someone should not give you a free pass. Feedback to the Mr. Smith case: I still come back to the idea of the circumstantial evince and that the prosecution should try the case in court or offer him a better plea for the victims. Yes, resources are better used if the case is pleaded out, but I still believe you cannot over look how many homes he burglarized. I believe a pattern has evolved and he could be more dangerous than perceived. I would agree that if Mr. Smith had something to offer, the plea deal for guilty on two counts could be fine. It all comes down to how many homes he burglarized. Twenty is a lot and shows more than I believe is being taken into account. To Jimmy and the mob bosses, I agree with the statement that the government is at fault for not finding evidence to convict higher up mob bosses and giving Jimmy immunity. If the government cannot put together a case against the mob bosses without giving immunity to a killer, than the mob bosses haven t done anything illegal or they are so good at what they do, they do not leave a trace. Byatt s story The Pink Ribbon is a story about change in a marriage as a result of a traumatic experience, as well as how the struggle between duty and love manifests themselves. In this story, a man doing what he thinks is his duty becomes overwhelmed with feelings of anger, fear, and resentment after his transition from spouse to caretaker. Through seemingly imagined encounters with a beautiful young woman, this man is reminded of his wife and what it is like to have meaningful contact with another person that is not consumed by taking care of someone else, which causes him to make a choice in the name of mercy, both for himself and his wife. James believed the doll Dipsy was equivalent to Mado, so the use of the word suffocating suggests that he thought Mado was suffocating or trapped and the only way to help her was to give her release through death, although it also could be hinting at the method he was going to use. Byatt wrote that every time James went outside he took huge gulping breaths, which suggests that James felt trapped himself and might have thought that if Mado were no longer around he would be able to breathe again. James visits from the fetch (234) ,Dido, also foreshadow Mado s death. A fetch in folklore is an omen of death. Since Dido reminded him of his wife and what their relationship used to be like, it makes sense that Mado s death was forthcoming. The last instance of foreshadowing is in the final paragraph of the story, ...the Teletubbies were sitting on the end of the casket shaped cradles,... (236), which, again, goes back to the symbol of the Teletubbies doll. The idea of the Teletubbies going to beds that were shaped like coffins proposes a parallel to where Mado was going to spend her last moments, which is emphasized by James telling Mado to Come to bed,...Just a rest, for a while, (236). Is it because we lack the willingness to change ourselves or is it because we don t want it? None of it, it is mainly because we fear change. But the fact is we can t stop it from happening. We either adapt to change, or we get left behind. But here s the fun fact: Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And sometimes, change is excellent. Sometimes, change is everything we want. Its funny how things appear the same every passing day but when we look back, many things have changed! All the three elements are required today also. So does it means nothing has changed in past twenty five hundred years? I don t think so. The first step towards determining the effects of the fishing industry is to calculate the amount of fishing capacity per season, based upon anticipated prices, costs, biomass level, and the regulations set by the regulatory agency (Homans Wilen, 1997, p. 3). The government assumes a regulatory stance in light of environmental goals, anticipating an amount of fishing activity, which is acceptable. The combination of the government and the industry should theoretically result in an equilibrium between the companies and the regulatory sector. Their main task is to characterize an equilibrium between the fishing industry and the regulatory infrastructure so that various situations related to fishing are taken into account. The cycle of biomass growth between seasons is dependent on the corresponding harvest, biological growth, environmental effects and the predetermined quota. Ultimately, it is assumed a full steady state can be reached. The goal of quantity regulation is to achieve a steady state of biomass in the long run, given constant industry and regulatory behaviour (Homans Wilen, 1997, p. 9). • 34. Sympathy In The Phantom Of The Opera The first thing that comes to someone s mind when they think about a phantom or a ghost, usually does not involve a real human or the word sympathy. In the novel, The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, this actually is the case. A deformed human, who lives deep under the opera and is stuck in a love triangle, causes problems for the people of the opera. The real definition of sympathy is: feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else s misfortune (123). Which does not apply to the Phantom because ultimately he is not a sympathetic character. He had a bad past and he doesn t care about others which leads him to kill and torture people for no apparent reason. The Opera Ghost isn t just unsympathetic while he lives in the Opera, but he was also unsympathetic as a child and younger adult. Back when he was in Mazenderan working for the Little Sultana, he murders many people: He had lived in India and acquired and incredible skill in the art of strangulation. He would make them lock him into a courtyard to which they brought a warrior usually, a man condemned to death armed with a long pike and a broad sword. Erik had only his lasso... Erik tightened the noose round his adversary s neck and, in this fashion, dragged him before the little sultana and her women, who sat looking from a window and applauding (Leroux 140). Yes, all the men that he kills have already been condemned to death, but he mercilessly kills them without knowing their story or feeling any sorrow or pity for the person he is about to kill. This shows that the Opera Ghost, Erik, is a very unsympathetic character in the novel. • 40. What the Stamp Act Really Meant Essay The central thesis of my paper is the Stamp Act and how it was brought about and what it meant to the American Colonies. As well as why it was necessary. February 6th, 1765 George Grenville came forth in Parliament to propose his Stamp Bill. Not knowing that it would forever be a significant part of history. The Act was a tax on every piece of printed paper the colony used. Including, legal documents, licenses, and even playing cards. The tax also had to be paid with British currency. Colonial paper money was not valid. This made it more difficult for the colonists to even pay the tax. The actual cost of the Stamp Act was pretty small in fact.
