species distributed mainly in tropical and sub-
tropical regions of the world. Most members are
cultivated for their edible fruits.
The common are:
Cucurbita maxima (Kadu),
Luffa cylindrica (Ghia tori),
Cucumis sativus (Cucumber),
Citrullus vulgaris (Water melon)
momordica charantia (Karela).
