George Bernard Shaw was an Irish playwright, critic, and political activist born in 1856 in Dublin who lived until 1950. He wrote over sixty plays, including major works like Man and Superman, Pygmalion, and Saint Joan. Shaw received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925 and shared an Oscar for the screenplay adaptation of Pygmalion, making him the first person to receive both a Nobel Prize and an Oscar.

more than sixty plays, including major works such as Man and Superman (1902),
Pygmalion (1912) and Saint Joan (1923). Shaw died very old, at the age of 94 from
kidney failure formed by injuries caused by falling while he was pruning a tree.

prize in Literature in 1925 and in 1938 he shared the Oscar for the best screenplay
adapted by the film version of Pygmalion, becoming the first person to receive the
Nobel Prize and an Oscar Award.
