Global Warming
# What is global warming?.
# Describe the problem.
# Solve this problem.
What is global warming?
It's the result of billions of decisions. Decisions
made by individuals – like :
- driving big cars rather than small cars.
- burning fossil fuels for hundreds of years to get
energy.
What is global warming?
- burning coals for electricity.
- burning natural gas to heat their homes and
cook their foods.
Also, it’s caused by decisions made by
corporations and nations, like pumping waste into
the atmosphere.
What is global warming?
What is global warming?
Burning fossil fuels release many types of
gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor,
methane, and nitrous oxide. These gases trap heat
and light from the sun in the Earth’s atmosphere,
which is increasing the Earth’s average
temperature and changes in global weather
patterns. This is called global warming.
Describe the problem
The problem is that human pollution is causing
the planet to heat up. This is affecting climates all over
the globe. The increased heat causes changes in
average precipitation patterns. Tropical locations have
stronger, more severe storms like hurricanes,
typhoons, and tsunamis. Some locations will
experience heavy rain storms and flooding. Other
locations will get very little rainfall and experience
droughts.
Solve this problem
# Human can stop burning fossil fuels for energy.
# People should use renewable forms of energy.
# Governments, universities, and independent
researchers should invest in the development of new
energy technology to implement across the globe.
# Also, humans can change their diets, by eating less
meat and more vegetables.
