Students will show an oral presentation
about World principal coins. They will
explain history and importance of each coin.
They can use power point presentations,
pictures and videos and show it to the class.
Group: Pairs.

An adjective is a word that

A, an, and the are called
articles. An article is a word
that modifies a noun or
pronoun. Often an adjective
separates an article from the
noun or pronoun it modifies.
Example 1:
The new boy ate lunch with us.
• What is the article in the sentence? The.
• What does the word modify? boy.
• What word separates The and boy? new.
Example 2:
She has a big heart.
• What is the article in the sentence? a
• What word does a modify? heart.
• What word separates a and heart? big.
The is a definite article. The indicates a specific
noun or pronoun. A and an are indefinite
articles. A or an indicates a noun or pronoun
that nonspecific. An is used when the word that
follows it begins with a vowel sound.
Example 1:
Dan wants the red bike.
Dan wants a red bike.
• Is the first sentence about a specific red bike or a
nonspecific red bike? A specific red bike.
• Is the second sentence about a specific red bike or a
nonspecific red bike? A nonspecific red bike.

• Is the first sentence about a specific movie or a
nonspecific movie?
• Is the second sentence about a specific movie or a
nonspecific movie?
This, that these and those can function as
adjectives or as pronouns. This, that, these, or
those is an adjective when it modifies a noun.

takes the place of a noun.
