The networking event was a Guardian workshop on February 27th 2023. The event was with Jane who works behind the scenes at the Guardian news website and newspaper. I learned that producing news requires looking at different information to base reports on facts rather than opinions. There are many career opportunities in the news industry, such as journalism, research, and social media management. The event helped me understand the importance of fact checking for clients.

It was with Jane who works with the Guardian news. Information about the person/company The guardian is a news report website, and they produce physical copies such as newspaper. What do they do? Jane works with the Guardian news and her job role is to work for behind the scenes. What is their history in the industry? Jane has been doing this job for a while and she focus on journalism. What did you learn? I learnt that there are different types of news evidence such as your opinion and facts. There is a lot that goes into the news such as looking at different information and making sure what you are going to produce is based on facts and not opinions. More about the industry? They work 24 hours a day whether that is producing news, creating and forming ideas or delivering the newspapers to different places. potential career facilities or opportunities available to you? There is loads of different jobs in news such as journalism or forming ideas. You could be the one who is researching topics to fact check them, or you could be managing their app and social media pages to make sure people are getting updated news at the right time of an event or story developing. Has it helped you with your current projects? It has made me realise that for different clients I use I need to make sure I am fact checking and making sure all the information is correct.
