Hassium is a synthetic radioactive element with an atomic number of 108. It has an unknown melting point and boiling point, a density of 41 g/cm3, and was discovered in 1984. The most stable known isotope of hassium, 269Hs, has a half-life of approximately 9.7 seconds. Hassium is named after the German state of Hesse and has an atomic symbol of Hs.
