How To Get More Traffic to Your Blog www.socialmediamarketingnow.com SocialAgent’s 10 Quick Tips Series: Blogging
Everyone wants to know- How can you get more traffic to your blog?
You Have To Give to Get Results First things first-you are actually going to need to spend some time on promoting your blog. So when I say you have to give—I mean you have to give it some effort and time to really get results. Now I will share some proven techniques for increasing traffic to your blog. A little bit of time and effort can make a huge difference in your traffic.
The more often you post, the more traffic you can get from search engines because the search engines are indexing your content more frequently which should help raise your page rank for the keywords associated with your blog. While speaking on content let me also share that quality content is important—no one wants to read something that is not valuable-try posts that are interesting, educational or entertaining. Quality posts will turn readers into subscribers! #1: Publish often
#2: Great headlines (Blog Post Titles) Take a little time in actually coming up with a great headline—think of using keywords that are found in your post. You can also use numbers (such as Top 10 Tips) which usually generate good traffic. The words (how to) also attract a lot of traffic because people understand immediately that they are going to learn something .
It may sound simple— but it works. Don’t be shy. Send an email to your subscribers list when you have a great blog post you want to share. They will appreciate it if you have a good post to back it up. They subscribe for a reason—so don’t be afraid to engage them. #3: Send an email blast
#4: Add a blog link in your email signature While we are talking about Email. If you use web-based email like Gmail or Yahoo, add WiseStamp to your email signature so you can include links to your blog. Add your blog’s RSS feed so your recent posts are always featured in your emails. Even if you don’t have web-based you should still add the link to your signature.
Most blog platforms have RSS feeds built in, but don’t forget to add an email subscription option as well. You can try one of these email subscription services- Feedburner or AWeber are my personal picks. #5: Include multiple subscription options
Facebook: use either the Facebook notes application to pull your blog feed into your profile and/or fan page or consider a blog application like networked blogs which allows people to subscribe directly while still in Facebook. Twitter: Use a plug-in like Twitter Tools ( Wordpress ) or an application like Twitterfeed.com to syndicate your new posts to your Twitter stream. Hootsuite , the Twitter management tool, also offers this option. LinkedIn: You can add your blog as one of the three URLs to your LinkedIn profile, and then syndicate your content with the Blog Link application as well. Google Buzz: If you haven’t yet go ahead and set up a Google Buzz account. Once you sign up it will automatically update your Google buzz feed for you once you add your other social media accounts. #6: Syndicate to Social Media
I would recommend you add your blog to Technorati , the largest blog directory on the web, and Alltop.com , a very popular directory organized by topics. #7: Submit your blog to directories
This is all about boosting your visibility on complementary blogs. Target influential blogs, read them and then contribute to the conversation when appropriate. When you comment, you may have the option to include the URL to your blog—which equals more traffic for your blog! This tactic also helps you reach new readers—if you post insightful comments. #8: Comment on blogs in your industry
Writing on other people’s blogs can introduce you to a new audience and create a new source of traffic to your blog. This can easily be accomplished if you know how. First consider places where there are multiple contributors already, or consider cross submitting within your industry—say as a Realtor you could offer a guest contribution on a mortgage lenders newsletter or blog, etc. Many times you will find that people are very open to the idea. #9. Guest posting
It is common knowledge that most people love to give their opinion-so use that to your advantage. Use a service like Polldaddy or SurveyMonkey to ask your readers what they want or get their opinion. Many times those people will also share your content once they have participated. #10: Engage your audience
