Message to Students
My goal this semester is a shift to truly personalized,
competency-based instruction, while still maintaining integrity in
meeting course goals and objectives - a big request all around.
Facilitating the movement to personalized instruction, first
requires that I loosen my grip on control of ALL course activities,
and second requires you to take primary responsibility for your
own learning. So with that in mind, the tasks and activities I have
planned are designed to allow you as much control as I, or you,
can possibly manage.

Project Description
One of your primary responsibilities this semester will
be the development and sharing of a major deliverable
that is determined through self-selection and
negotiation.
VOICE AND CHOICE
• Online Course Development
• Professional Development
• Tutorial Resources
• Collaborative Inquiry

Project Plan
• What do you plan to do?
• What applications or tools will
you use?
• What are your goals and
intended outcomes?
• What are your anticipated
milestones and deliverables?
• Who are project members and
what are their roles?

Best Practice Indicator:
Community Building
How does your project demonstrate that community is a valued
component? Does your project leverage social networks or other
tools to build community? Does your project provide
opportunities and a space for your audience to share their
experiences with you and with others?
© 2012 Boise State University 19
Best Practice Indicator:
Collaboration
Does your project provide opportunities for teamwork or other
collaborative experiences? What tools and processes facilitate
collaboration?
© 2012 Boise State University 20
Best Practice Indicator:
Multimedia Development
How do you use multimedia to promote engagement? Does your
project recognize that all learners are unique and learn by
multiple means of representation?
© 2012 Boise State University 21
Best Practice Indicator:
Evaluation Plan
Do you have an evaluation
plan that is based on
research and best practice?
How will you know if your
project goals and outcomes
have been reached? How
will you know if your
instruction/materials are
effective?

Best Practice Indicator:
Collection of Resources
Does your project contain ample resources and supplemental
materials? Can learners find answers to questions they may be
pondering or extend their learning? Are the resources easy to
find and access?
© 2012 Boise State University 23
Best Practice Indicator:
Synchronous Interactions
Does your project include opportunities for synchronous
interaction? How does this interaction support the goals of your
project?
