Telnet is a network protocol that allows users to connect to other hosts or services from a terminal or terminal emulator. On CentOS 7 and RHEL 7.x, the telnet package is not installed by default and must be installed using the yum package manager. Once installed, telnet functionality can be tested by connecting to port 25 on the local host.
