John 13:1-1
"When everything
begins as a learner"
•Our actions can tell or reflect on what
kind of Master whom we serve and
whom we follow.
•As a person who was called by Christ to
be His servant we must be first a
disciple, it means we need to learn
from Him and for Him.
•How do we see ourselves right
now as followers of Christ?
•Do we still remember what is
the real meaning of being a
disciple of Christ?
•As a learner or as a disciple of
our Lord Jesus, we must
remember three things about
what He wants us to have along
the way we study in this school.
•I. A learner must have a lovable
heart (vv. 1-11)
•A. We must serve
unconditionally (vv. 1-5)
•B. We must love even those
unlovable (vv. 6-11)
•Having a lovable heart means we are willing
to be a servant, being a servant is not a
great position here on earth but something
to be laughable or being mocked. When we
see the definition of heaven about it, a
servant has a greater value in heaven.
•II. A learner must have a teachable
heart (vv. 6-12)
•A. We must be willing to do the basic
command of the Lord (vv. 6-15)
•B. We must be willing to do it as a sign
that we are one in the Lord (vv. 6-9)
•When we committed mistakes or
someone corrected us we must leave a
room for improvements. It is a sign that
we are always willing to learn
something new while serving God
•III. A leaner must have a reachable
heart (vv. 12-17)
•A. We must be willing to put our titles
down to reach people (vv.12-16)
•B. We must have a down to earth
attitude to reach people (vv. 12-17)
•The more we learn or we know something
we need to use it to reach people and not to
use it to build a barrier between them just
because we already know a lot. We should
not put our title in front of people because
that's what Jesus did even though He is God
He became a man to reach us (John 1:14 &
Phil 2:1-11).
• Conclusion:
•What are the three things we should remember as
disciples of Christ?
•I. A learner must have a lovable heart (vv. 1-11)
•II. A learner must have a teachable heart (vv. 6-12)
•III. A leaner must have a reachable heart (vv. 12-17)
•Are we willing to do it along the way we study here?
