Thomson Reuters during an acquisition Kent managed.
[Platinum award] “Customers are the heart of everything”.
Kent, thank you from for your effort in 2013 supporting our IT infrastructure and leading its integration
with that of TRH&S. After only 2 weeks of getting familiar with our environment, you took on the primary
support role. Spending nearly every M-F for 9 months away from home to provide our IT support here,
you demonstrated dedication by being apart from your family and home so long. Your attitude was one of
"I'll do whatever it takes", never grumbling or complaining and always acting kind and respectful. You
helped lead us through many integration/migration projects, and dealt with some failing infrastructure and
leftover problems from the prior IT support team. Thanks to your demonstration of "customers are at the
heart of everything", we have a stable IT infrastructure that is integrated with the rest of TRH&S, and a
properly trained IT staff.

Projects:
Migration of large health care business:
• Assisted with the migration of 20,000 users, 45,000 workstations and 5,200 servers. This project
consists of 8 legacy domains.
• Setup Dell migration manager and performed dual ACLing, switching of scheduled tasks and
services accounts to insure seamless migration when the server was migrated to new domain.
• Created power shell scripts to run on all servers to insure all accounts were properly switched to
the new domain accounts, and if they were not, troubleshot the cause.
• Created a database and scripts to gather application information from hundreds of resources.
Successfully linked applications, servers and app owners on 90% of the 12,000 apps in the
business.
• Ran the migrations from the RUM tool and where it failed, determined the cause of failure and
corrected it or ran the domain change manually.
• Project management for the server migrations. Made sure the IT group, the application owners
and management where heavily involved with the migration of all server migrations.
Worked with a large corporation to lockdown their IT infrastructure
• Built out new OU structure for new domain. This involved combining 100’s of ou’s into one,
creating a lot less redundancy in GPO’s.
• Brought the total amount of DOMAIN ADMINS from eighty six down to ONE. Company had
assigned all admins as domain admins.
• Created new security groups and delegated specific admins to these groups, based on their
responsibilities.
• Created PowerShell script that edited the schema to reflect the rights for these new security
groups.
• Did an analysis of 600 GPO’s and removed redundant ones and combined ones where necessary.
• Ran report showing all IT employees and the rights that had both before and after.
• Installed Dell Auditing Tool as well as, Active Roles server for the company and showed them how
to keep track of all processes being performed within the AD environment.
Thomson Reuters, Philadelphia, PA May 2008 – December 2014

 Arranging and chairing weekly team meetings, focusing on targets & achievements.
 Involved in the recruitment of new staff.
 Praise team members and create a positive working environment.
 Ensuring all administrative and IT records are entered and updated correctly.
• Working on new PowerShell interface that will automate hundreds of the most common processes
performed by Tier1 and Tier2 technical staff. This will save thousands of hours by automating the
process of repairing remote machines. Some of the tasks now automated include registry key
entries, computer domain rejoin, computer renaming, user renaming, WMI repair, install/remove
printers, software installation, reset IE and Re-register dll files, performance monitoring, too many
to list.
• Upgrading SCCM 2007 R2 to SCCM 2012.
 Running in parallel. Created new packages and pushed out new images to virtual
environment. Setting up Application Catalog web service point for distribution of software
to clients. Creating customer queries for the reporting service point. Setting up
underutilized servers as site systems (BDP’s). Setting up WSUS integration within SCCM
2012. Testing the use of the State Migration Point to save user profiles while updating OS
on workstations.
• Maintain and update hundreds of GPO’s.
 GPO’s install software, run login scripts, and push policies on 60,000 users and 120,000
machines globally. Others are startup scripts that pull information from WMI and install
software.
• Designed script that automated process of renaming thousands of machines and users if they did
not meet proper naming standards
• Designed fifty PowerShell scripts, which saved thousands of hour’s anually inputting data.
 The scripts pull data from AD on several legacy domains. Others pull data from static files
that LSA’s (local site admins) place into a dedicated folder where the scripts automatically
load the data from csv to a SQL server. Others send out emails with embedded html to
users that inform them that they are scheduled for migration. Also designed scripts that
pull data from all SCCM servers and combine them to one excel spreadsheet for reporting
and review.
• Project requiring the migration of 30,000 pcs from Windows XP to Windows 7.
 Responsible for the testing and implementation of migrations utilizing both SCCM and the
Dell Automated Deployment (DAD) tool. Trained group to successfully implement the tools.
Ninety percent of the upgrades were zero touch, saving thousands of hours of man hours
• Project manager for acquisition
 Worked with multiple vendors and groups to obtain a flawless migration. Oversaw four
other System Engineers and worked with several groups. Responsible for total migration of
acquisition to our network infrastructure. This included DNS, All AD objects, Mailbox, Public
Folders and Distribution Lists.
 Convert internal IP subnet to Thomson network. Set up of DHCP scopes to reflect new IP
subnet. Switch all Blackberry devices from legacy server to new server. Determine ACL
rights on all files/shares throughout the organization to insure that new domain accounts
have seamless access to existing files on legacy domain.
 Learn all software and make sure that the migration will not produce any problems or
downtime. Documented all steps and procedures for a successful migration. Provided daily
reports to management.
• Assisted with the move of 175,000 AD objects from one domain to another using Vmover and
user.ini.
• Help design, test and implement scripts and reports needed for management meetings.
