Male koalas are larger than females. Koalas are an important part of Aboriginal culture and their name means "ash grey pouched bear." Baby koalas spend their first six to seven months drinking their mother's milk and living in her pouch, and they begin eating pap, or intestinal bacteria, from their mothers at around six months old. Koalas live for around 17 years and are most active at dusk.
