Trees
Land scape and its types
Eucalyptus is a
diverse genus of
flowering trees
and shrubs
(including a
distinct group with
a multiple-stem
mallee growth
habit) in the myrtle
family, Myrtaceae
• Saman tree is
recognised by its canopy
of evergreen feathery
foliage and puffs pink
flowers. It is frequently
planted in group or
avenue. It often reaches
a height of 27m and a
strong spreading
branches may be nearly
as long.its bark is dark
grey often bearing
horizontal weals.
Laburnum, sometimes
called Golden Chain or
Golden Rain, is a genus of
two species of small trees in
the subfamily Faboideae of
the pea family FabaceaeThe
Laburnum trees are
deciduous. The leaves are
trifoliate, somewhat like a
clover; the leaflets are
typically 2–3 cm (1–1 in)
long in L. anagyroides and
4–5 cm (1.5–2 in) long in L.
alpinum.
• Bauhinia trees typically reach
a height of 6–12 m and their
branches spread 3–6 m
outwards. The lobed leaves
usually are 10–15 cm across.
• The five- petaled flowers are
7.5–12.5 cm diameter,
generally in shades of red,
pink, purple, orange, or yellow,
and are often fragrant. The
tree begins flowering in late
winter and often continues to
flower into early summer.
Depending on the species,
Bauhinia flowers are usually in
magenta, mauve, pink or
white hues with crimson
highlights.
Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre is a
legume tree that grows to about
15–25 metres (50–80 ft) in height
with a large canopy which spreads
equally wide. It may be deciduous
for short periods. It has a straight
or crooked trunk, 50–80
centimetres (20–30 in) in diameter,
with grey-brown bark which is
smooth or vertically fissured.. They
are a soft, shiny burgundy when
young and mature to a glossy,
deep green as the season
progresses with prominent veins
underneath.
Flowering generally starts after 3–
4 years with small clusters of
white, purple, and pink flowers
blossoming throughout the year.
The raceme-like inflorescence bear
two to four flowers which are
strongly fragrant and grow to be
15–18 millimetres (0.59–0.71 in)
long.
• Ravenala is a
genus of flowering
plants with a single
species, Ravenala
madagascariensis,
commonly known
as traveller's tree
or traveller's palm,
from Madagascar.
foxtail palm, is a
species of palm in the
Arecaceae family, native
to Queensland,
Australia.
Plants
Land scape and its types
• Nectar is a sugar-rich liquid
produced by plants in glands
called nectarines, either within
the flowers with which it attracts
pollinating animals, or by extra
floral nectarines, which provide a
nutrient source to animal
mutualists, which in turn provide
antiherbivore protection.
• Lantana is a genus of
about 150 species of
perennial flowering plants
in the verbena family,
Verbenaceae. They are
native to tropical regions
of the Americas and Africa
but exist as an introduced
species in numerous areas,
especially in the
Australian-Pacific region.
The genus includes both
herbaceous plants and
shrubs growing to 0.5–2 m
(1.6–6.6 ft) tall. Their
common names are shrub
verbenas or lantanas.
• Adenium is a genus of
flowering plants in the
Apocynum family,
Apocynaceae, first
described as a genus in
1819. It is native to
Africa and the Arabian
Peninsula
• Nerium oleander is a
shrub or small tree in
the dogbane family
Apocynaceae, toxic in
all its parts. It is the
only species currently
classified in the genus
Nerium. It is most
commonly known as
nerium or oleander,
from its superficial
resemblance to the
unrelated olive Olea.
• Catharanthus is a genus of
flowering plants in the
dogbane family,
ApocynaCatharanthus
roseus, known formerly as
Vinca rosea, is a main
source of vinca alkaloids,
now sometimes called
catharanthus alkaloids. The
plant produces about 130
of these compounds,
including vinblastine and
vincristine, two drugs used
to treat cancer.
Creepers
• Allamanda is a genus of
flowering plants in the
dogbane family,
Apocynaceae. They are
native to the Americas,
where they are
distributed from Mexico
to Argentina. Some
species are familiar as
ornamental plants
cultivated for their large,
colorful flowers. Most
species produce yellow
flowers
• Rangoon creeper vine is a woody
climbing liana with green to
yellow-green lance shaped
leaves. The stems have fine
yellow hairs with occasional
spines forming on the branches.
Rangoon creeper blooms white
at onset and gradually darkens to
pink, then finally red as it reaches
maturity. Flowering in the spring
through summer, the 4- to 5-inch
star-shaped aromatic blossoms
are clustered together. The
fragrance of the blooms is most
striking at night.
