To Whom It May Concern:
As the AIAS Montana Chapter Vice President I would like be the voice of the Montana Board in the
nomination and full support for Elizabeth Siedel for the Chapter President Honor Award. As we all know,
Ms. Siedel was elected West Quadrant Director for the upcoming 2016-2017 year. By the elections the
majority of her support has already been showcased; however, her true desires and talents as a leader is
really exemplified in her role here in the Montana Chapter serving as our President.
Ms. Siedel has focused on a variety of aspects involving AIAS and our school. Creating and sustaining a
positive and supportive teamwork environment on the board has us working together stronger than ever.
This past year we have moved towards an “Ego to Eco” environment where the importance of each board
member is common knowledge and the tasks don’t simply lie within the title given. As a board we are
collaborating and executing a variety of events. We are one of the most active chapters in the nation, and
I truly believe this energy radiates from Elizabeth Siedel.
The events we hold promote networking throughout the school, throughout the Bozeman community,
and throughout the nation. Ms. Siedel has done an exemplary job at promoting professional development
through firm visits, presentations, workshops, and an overall greater involvement with the advisory
council and staff. Ms. Siedel’s energy within the organization without a doubt has spread to the
profession. Our annual Celebration of Architecture dinner and auction raised a record breaking amount
that is entirely contributed to students through scholarships, conferences, etc. The architecture
community is excited about what we as AIAS members are doing within our school, and the eagerness to
be involved and contribute is greater than ever before.
The excitement, however, is not simply being generated throughout the professionals, the excitement is
growing within our school. Our general membership is higher than last year’s membership. This, I believe,
comes from Ms. Siedels advocacy for a positive studio culture. This year Ms. Siedel has implemented
#gratitude into the studio environment: advocating for the idea that “we are all in this together”, and
rewarding those who not only are involved in AIAS serving as the student’s voice, but also at a personal
level within the school.
Elizabeth Siedel is a motivated, energetic, and involved member and here at Montana State University we
believe she is the best candidate for the AIAS Chapter President Honor Award.
