LOCATION REECE
LUCY PEARSON
DUNSTABLE DOWNS
• EXT
This location will be used to show the man at the start of the sequence, where he
will be running through a forest area. When I visited the downs, at around 11:30am,
I entered the woodland area to access it’s practicality. In terms of lighting, the vast
amount of trees made the area perfect – because it appeared quite dark and
menacing – however it was also light enough to be able to shoot effectively. The
forest area was also very large, meaning that there’s plenty of space to film
someone running in order to keep the scene fast paced. It’s also away from any
main roads, so it was silent enough to be able to film without background noise.
Overall, I think I will definitely be using the downs to film.
BENNETTS REC
• EXT
• The first place where i went was Bennetts Rec park - and i noticed that the park was
fairly quiet, except from a few dog walkers. This is good because it means that
background noise will be minimal and we will be able to film where we need to
without worrying about other people being in the way/crowds. There's also a bench
there next to a building towards the left of the park, which i thought would be perfect
for filming as a location for the friends to be sitting and the man to walk out from
behind the building - close by but also hidden away for the mysterious effect.
Therefore, i think that this location is ideal for my opening scene.
HOUSE
• INT
During looking at locations, I used my house as an example to see how effective it
would be. I found out that the lighting was all ideal, and the bedroom (which would
be used as the protagonists bedroom) was in the perfect location for the scene. This
is because the window was large enough to show the road outside, and I tested a
few shots to see how I could film this scene. I figured that an over the shoulder shot
would be ideal of the protagonist looking out of her bedroom window onto the
road, because you could clearly see both inside and outside the house – acting as a
good perspective.
THE HOUSES DRIVEWAY
• EXT
I also used my houses driveway to test this location for the scene where Charlotte
will pull up outside and the protagonist, Sam, will run out of the house and get into
the car. In terms of space, the location was ideal because I had enough room (as the
camera room) to shoot from different angles as she ran across the drive, and the
natural lighting was also good too. This location is also good in terms of lighting in
darker conditions, because the road is lined with street lampposts.
Therefore, I think that this location will be definitely be one of the possible options
for the protagonists house – and me and my group will discuss this further before
coming to a decision.
