Setting SMART goals
The first step to any successful plan is to set specific, measurable,
achievable, relevant, and time-based goals. These goals help
developing an attainable strategy. (Dod, 2016)
1. Gain 10K followers on Instagram by 2017.
2. Increase brand awareness through Twitter by creating a
marketing campaign in the next three months.
3. Keeping the company social media accounts updated by
adding different posts everyday.
4. Raise the engagement rate with the users on Twitter, Instagram
and Facebook by 100 comments on every post by the end of
2016.
Define the target audience
It’s important to target the correct segment of users to create, design
and send the correct message. (Dod, 2016). The next step is to
conduct a survey and a research to identify the company target
audience and which social media platform they prefer. The survey
will identify location, age, gender, income and education level.
4
Analyze the Competition
It’s always a good idea to search for inspiration from industry leaders
and competitors. To Benefit from their previous experiences, they
have already built a wealth of knowledge, which the company can
integrate into the social media strategy plan. (LePage, 2014) The
purpose of this examination is to see how the competitors are doing
on social media and how they are engaging with their potential
customers. (Patel, 2015)
1. 4SPOTS company
They specialize in design-led brand communication and
digital innovation. They are using three social media channels,
which are (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
• Twitter
This is their Twitter account it’s updated, they have 654
followers and they have few retweets. They don’t have
engagement with their followers.
5
• Facebook
4SPOTS Facebook account is updated, 8190 people like
their page, they don’t have reviews and they have few
likes and comments on every post.
This is their progress from their Facebook page.
6
• Instagram
This is their Instagram page, their page is updated they
post the same pictures that they used for Facebook and
Twitter they have 470 followers, the highest likes they
got is 38 and they have few comments. They don’t have
any customer engagement.
Their social media accounts are updated, they have few likes and
comments. There is no engagement between the company and
their followers; they are not doing well on their social media
accounts.
2. Ignite Software & Design company
Founded in 2015, Ignite Software & Design is a digital
marketing company aimed at enhancing your online and
digital presence. They are using three social media channels,
which are (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
• Twitter
7
This is Ignite account on Twitter, their page is not
updated frequently, and they have 358 followers. They
are sharing useful and funny post but they aren’t any
engagement with any of them.
• Facebook
Their Facebook page is updated, 4,962 people like their
page and they got 11 positive reviews. They almost don’t
have any like or comment, their engagement rate is zero.
This is their progress from their Facebook page.
8
• Instagram
The account is updated with the same pictures are
shared on their three different social media accounts.
They have 1020 followers; they have few comments and
an average of 30 likes.
Some of their social media accounts are updated; they have some
likes and comments. They have original content but there is no
engagement between the company and their followers; they are
not doing well on their social media accounts.
The research of two local competitors (4SPOTS Company and
Ignite Company) social media accounts shows that both of them
are using (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to connect with their
customers. The accounts show that they don’t have plans for
engaging with their customers and raising their brand awareness.
Which means that they are missing consumers, it’s a good
opportunity for MADigital to distinguish	on the social media.
It’s important to engage with the customers on social media
channels because the company can gather valuable information
from the customers. As well as engaging on social media
channels, makes the company has a great impact on search
engine rankings. (Domocos, 2015) It also reduces the marketing
costs and builds a relationship between the customers and the
brand where they can express their feelings freely about they
service or the product. (Winbush, 2015)
9
To create a successful social media strategy, the company must
research social media leaders.
1. Oreo
According to the guardian Oreo is one of the top brands that got
social media right in 2015. (Daykin, 2015)
• Twitter
They have 808K followers; every post shared on their
account is retweeted, liked and got many comments.
Their account is update with different media posts.
This post retweeted 501 and favorites 2.7K. The

very successful.
10
• Facebook
This is Oreo Facebook page, 42,115,606	people	liked	it.	It’s
updated	with	different	content,	like	picture	and	videos.
This is the same post that they post it on Twitter; on
Facebook it got 8.7K like, 216 shares and 134
comments. That shows how high is the engagement rate.
This is Oreo progress on Facebook.
11
• Instagram
They have 1.5M followers on Instagram, which is a huge
number of followers. They share different pictures and
videos from their Twitter and Facebook accounts that
make Oreo creative and unique in every social media
platform. On every post they have thousands of likes
and comments. They are very close to their audience.
Based on the research on Oreo social media accounts, the results
as the following:
1. They have a clear social media plan that includes customer
integration and satisfaction.
2. They have different content for every social media platform
3. They encourage customers to be creative through posting
unique content.
4. They have a huge audience in more than three different social
media channels.
5. Their Facebook page still alive because of their interactive
posts.
6. They have several marketing campaigns that make them more
connected and popular.
12
Content Plan
1. Focus on three social media platforms “Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram”.
2. Create different original content for every social media
channel.
3. Create interactive and engaging content.
4. Keep the social media accounts updated.
• Twitter
The company will use Twitter to educate people about
social media, SEO, logos and brands. Tweet popular
quotes that relate to the brand and to the audience.
Share the important events that are coming soon.
Moreover the company will create hash-tag every month
to share favorite brand, logo or any type of technology
or media. The goal is to make the hash-tag popular to
engage with users, speared brand awareness and have
more followers.
Plan the content and make schedule to be post two
times a day.
• Facebook
For Facebook page the company will design original
infographic that explain how the company works, how
to create the designs and what’s the process of any
project. In addition MADigital will create videos about
the work environment, logo design process from the
paper to the end result and the joyful moments at the
office.
13
• Instagram
On the Instagram the company will share every finished
project and ask about the users opinion of it what they
think the company should improve or change.
MADigital also will post related content from Tamkeen,
because it’s a credible account for Bahrainis and they
like their creative content. As well as that MADigital
Instagram account will have contents to engage with the
followers and have more followers.
Improve social media account
There are some tools that can help in improving social media
accounts. One of the efficient tools is Google analytics because it
allows seeing where the users come from and if they engage with
the content or not.

Another idea to improve the company social media account and to
promote it is to use Instagram ads, which are popular and low cost.
Moreover the company will try to be a part of Tamkeen events that
help people to improver their skills in different levels. That helps the
company to expand the relationship between the brand and Bahraini
people.
An additional idea is to get an interview in Startup magazine, to talk
about MADigital brand to introduce it to more people through the
magazine.
The last thing in the improving list is to make a marketing campaign
that involves helping people on Instagram and Twitter to have a
value and credibility.
14
An example of TOMS marketing campaign on Twitter.
Track and evaluate
The last step is to analysis the social media accounts constantly to
see which post it getting more likes and response from people.
What’s or isn’t working, what to improve in the strategy, and what
adjustments need to be made. (Patel, 2015) (LePage, 2014) To stay
on the track and don’t lose the followers and their trust.
